Hi everyone…

Welcome to yet another 12:30 kick off up at The King Power Stadium where Leicester City await, suffering relegation from The Prem last year, they have had an "ok" season so far currently sitting in 14th spot on 38 points, having lost 1-2 at home to bottom three side Oxford United last Saturday, but again a side who seem to get enough points to hold their mid table spot.

Today we are still without Josh Edwards, and Harvey Knibbs, Leicester will be without Ben Nelson, Harry Souttar, Victor Kristiansen, Jordan James, and Aaron Ramsey, while Oliver Skipp could return for the Foxes'.

We've gone toe-to-toe on 54 previous occasions, winning 24, the Foxes 19 and the remaining meetings resulting in draws, Leicester edged an undeserved 1-0 victory in the reverse fixture at The Valley back in August, with Abdul Fatawu scoring the decisive goal, so 'bout time we repaid them in full.

Andrew Kitchen will be the man in the middle on this afternoon, and we will be sporting our home red kit also…so COYR.

Team news…Conor Coady will make his first start for the Addicks in today's Sky Bet Championship clash against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium (KO 12.30pm GMT).

The new signing comes into the starting XI as Nathan Jones makes four changes, with Amari'i Bell, who has missed the last three matches with a hamstring injury, captain Greg Docherty and Miles Leaburn also in from the off, fellow new arrival Jayden Fevrier, is named on the substitutes bench.

The game is on Sky Sports+ in the UK and Ireland, while those in the US can tune in on Paramount+ .

The Addicks are likely to line up in their normal 3-5-2 shape, with the versatility of the squad allowing Jones a number of options on who plays where.

Fevrier is joined on the bench by Will Mannion, Macaulay Gillesphey, Conor Coventry, Tyreece Campbell, Luke Berry, Charlie Kelman, Matty Godden and Joe Rankin-Costello.

Charlton: Kaminski, Ramsay, Jones, Docherty (c), Leaburn, Carey, Coady, Bell, Chambers, Clarke, Dykes

Subs: Mannion, Gillesphey, Coventry, Rankin-Costello, Berry, Fevrier, Campbell, Kelman, Godden

  • Surprised by this. "We've gone toe-to-toe on 54 previous occasions, winning 24, the Foxes 19".

The league one years have really made a small club mentality set in.

Brooks on the bench...? - Fevrier with the next number to annoy the fans, picking "77"

    Cawley:

    #cafc team out.

Heard during the week that Conor Coady set to play as the holding midfielder. Looks like that might be the case.

What is Docherty doing out there?
Lovely to see Bell back, does look a bit of a defensive team...
Guess we'll aim to get into HT drawing at the very least and go for it more second half

They haven't lined it up in a formation like they usually do so it reads like Docherty is LCB, Leaburn is RWB and Clarke is up top with Dykes!

    Suspect it's actually

    Kaminski
    Ramsay Jones Bell
    Clarke Coady Docherty Chambers
    Carey
    Dykes Leaburn

Makes the last month and a half all the more baffling that suddenly Docherty is back and starting

    But ... but ... but ...

I thought Dochers was on his way out after falling out with Rev Jones?

    Back ... and as skipper!

Leaburn and Dykes upfront is not one for the football purists
  • This is why we're after more defenders, Jones is going to have us with a 10-0-0 formation by the end of the season.
  • Coady as a holding midfielder? Alongside Doherty? Slow as hell in the middle

Not convinced by Coady coming in to play in midfield, for all his experience and ability on the ball, you do need pace in midfield.

We’re relying on Chambers as our pacey attacking outlet which worries me.

Returned to Leaburn and Dykes when we saw that didn’t really work.

Does Coventry really have an injury or is Jones not happy with his defensive work?

Great to see Bell there, but hope he’s not been rushed back.

Maybe Doc isn’t on the way out, so if not him, who? Likely we’ll need to let some go to make space for more signings.

Well NJ is shaking things up it seems. Either a masterstroke or mental time will tell. At least it’s not the same thing expecting a different result which for me is a positive

Guess its a mixture of events... Docherty probably hasn't liked being dropped and probably hasn't liked some feedback given, Jones doesnt feel that he's had a falling out and has just been honest with his player... Docherty has responded in the way he should, and is back in the team
As I've been saying since Millwall, if Docherty had actually fallen out... Why was he in the dressing room there

Coady as a holding midfielder when our midfield is already slow as it is sounds like a great idea

Jones has lost the plot with that team selection

Who knows how that lot might set up???

Maybe 4 at back (Ramsey, Jones, Coady, Bell) with 4 in middle (Clarke, Doc, Carey, Chambers) and two up top?
Maybe 3-4-2-1 with Coady in midfield?

At least the bench gives us options for -

    a) if it goes wrong;
    b) someone gets injured
    c) someone gets sent off
    d) we are winning so well we think about resting some players...

    COYA!

What a rank line up that is. 8 defenders and 3 forwards 2 of them being lumps

Best we can do I suppose but still not happy that Coventry is on the sidelines. Must be a niggle maybe?
Anyway just give it a real go and show us you can get away from the bottom will do me.

5 at the back with doc and Coady in midfield and 2 giants up front, I wonder what the tactics are going to be 🤔
