Thanks @MarcusH26, basically the same as the consensus here
I look forward to the ‘only on NTT20…’ ‘typical NTT20 negativity writing him off before he’s kicked a ball’ posts….

    :-)
They’re more qualified than anyone on here to make a judgement on a player. It’s literally their profession.
That doesn't make them qualified, it makes them good podcast hosts. I like NTT20, I think they're pretty even handed but they aren't 'qualified' to judge players any more than the rest of us are. I could quit my job and start a football podcast tomorrow; it would be my profession but it wouldn't make me qualified to judge a player any more than I was the day before
They’ve done it professionally for over10 years, they’ve worked on sky, itv and quest. they are supremely more qualified than you or anyone on here to make a judgement on a player. Ridiculous to suggest otherwise.
I think you need to review what the word qualified means

Who actually played for us most recently, it must be SCP.
Bent, Young, Parker and Konchesky were all capped for England after Powell while playing for us.

I meant more who was the last player who played for us, who represented England. Surely Powell when he returned and returned again?

I can't understand. NJ says we need to sign athletic players but signs slow donkeys, many of whom are vertically challenged.

    Get rid.

If you can’t admit that they more knowledgeable about football and the players than you there is no helping you.

Have we had someone since Darren Bent? I know Gomez and Konza played for England, but not whist at/before Charlton.

Having watched a 36 year old Radostin Kishishev have an outstanding game for Brighton at the Valley I am very hopeful that Conor Coady might fit in for us.
If it doesn't work out at least we tried.

In terms of songs (chants) are we going with the scouser in the team, or has someone got a better one?

Lots of Lifers writing him off before he's kicked a ball for us.

He’s a very confident chap, certainly blows his own trumpet very well, let’s see it on the pitch Conor.
I'm not certain, but blowing your own trumpet on a football pitch is probably a straight red

Definitely in an early KO match but you may get away with it in a night game !

Many more displays like last week and we will be hearing the last post played 🤦🏻‍♂️🎺🤷🏻‍♂️

Conor Coady will either be a Cult hero or a Cunx zero; we need it to be the former.

    Amari bell is 31.
    Van dink 34.

Coady has prem and international experience. Played prem most of his career i think. How are we criticising already! Give him a chance.

Had no idea he'd come in to play DM. We desperately need more strength and quality on the ball in that area. He did well today, and didn't stop talking / directing.

Still worry about the lack or legs he has but other than he looked very good in the holding midfielder role today

Can see why we signed him. His experience and leadership qualities showed today. He made himself heard a few times straight away, also to established players like Lloyd Jones. Nothing spectacular beyond that, but you can tell he’s played at a higher level.

He’s been brought in to galvanise the squad. Jones will know better than anyone that his legs have gone he don’t need a load of Wrexham and Leicester fans to tell him that!

Posted in the transfer window thread…

“Now he’s lined up there (DM) it makes perfect sense to me.

I was far from convinced about him coming in to play centre back but it was a “in Jones we trust moment”.

Instead, he’s coming in to be the shield and the general in the middle of the pitch. Couldn’t ask for a better January option for that role.

Jones has done his nut on multiple occasions in the last month over our midfielders not doing what he wants them to do. At Blackburn, against Chelsea, Millwall…

His nous in front of the back three is going to be invaluable.”

It's good that we no longer have to break Coventry. A jobshare will suit both Conors

I'll admit I wasn't completely sold on his signing. But posted the below on the post match thread.

Coady at CDM may just be the "Small at RWB" moment for this season. Will need to see it against 11 men whether it holds up but essentially having him there to drop into the back line allows both wing backs to play with a little more freedom and to get up the pitch more. Width on both sides and crossing ability makes us a completely different prospect going forwards and gives our strikers more space and more to work with.

Coady there to organise and dictate play in midfield and defence whilst also being all over the ref will be key at the business end of the season if we are in a relegation battle. He has a decent range of passing too.

I did call last weekend this season’s Crawley game. So good to see an instant turnaround and end any talk about losing the dressing room.

As well as Coady in the middle, Clarke and Chambers look more suited to wing back than most others we’ve played at wing back. They offer enough going forward to avoid being pure defenders, and seem to have a bit more pace than Bree.

Looking forward to Monday to see how the squad looks once the window closes. I listened to some of Braziliance’s post game chat on X, a good point was made about Collins giving us another athletic CB as an alternative to Ramsay and Bell. Assuming the deal goes through I can see him making the bench ahead of Gillesphey and Burke once he’s settled in.

It all suggests Jones has recognised we need more pace across the whole team, and while Coady doesn’t offer that, he gives us another experienced leader and strengthens that DM position.

Feels a bit of an Alou Diarra signing, very good start so far.

Tough to fully judge playing against 10 men for a good while but I loved how he was constantly instructing those around him and was welcome calm in an often problematic area for us.
    Long may it continue🙏

Thought he was excellent, from the kick off in others ears and instructing and encouraging, calm head with plenty of experience

Had a solid game. Many were sceptical about this one but his experience will only be a good thing.

Thought it was odd that he played CDM. Only Nathan Jones would play a 32yo who has played CB all his career, out of position. Worked today, but will it against 11 men for 90 mins? Who knows.
