We need Millwall to keep winning so they have something to play for on the last day. I don't care if they go up if they save us

Reading all these posts and the possible permutations, it's simple really, all we have to do it beat Ipswich, Hull, and Swansea, and everyone else can just fu*k off...including Millwall...🤷‍♂️

Best just to see what happens tomorrow night.

Things will look a bit clearer come 10pm.

It maybe fulll out panic mode or just chill & relax.

If before the last game Millwall cannot get into top two they might save some of their better players against Oxford for the playoffs

I actually fancy us to get a result against Ipswich. Most of our better performances have been when we don’t have much of the ball and can just be defensively solid and play like the away side.
Yeah, but we're so much more lethargic now. Our lethargy vs Ipswich nerves.

Too hard to call - they might prefer to avoid, say, Southampton in the semis, and therefore want to finish third.

Ssshhh...they probably haven't even thought of that one...the simple folk from The Dark Side...🤦‍♂️

They have the easiest fixtures of any of the sides going for 2nd place, Stoke (a), Leicester (a) and Oxford (h). No chance that they won't be fighting for that automatic place against Oxford.

As much as Millwall would enjoy seeing us get relegated, I doubt their team selection will be anything other than their strongest possible for Oxford.  They may either still be in with a shot at the autos, or if not, won’t suddenly rest a lot of players, as they will want to have as much momentum going into them as possible

In our 3 successful years in the play offs and all the other times we made it, not in any of the final league games of the season did we suddenly think it was the time to rest of experiment.

There may be a one or two changed, but they will be putting out their best possible team.  Depending on results between now and then, we will have to see how much we will need them to do us a favour.  I think we can pick something up out of the 3 games between now and then and for some odd reason I think Jones and the team will give us a bit of response tomorrow night and Saturday

There's nearly a week before the playoffs start anyway (Friday/Saturday). And the experience of the NL playoffs, where the top teams have a long rest before they play, shows that the momentum and confidence from winning games is often more beneficial than having more time to recover.

If you end up on the play offs you want to be the third placed team preferably with next best 4th placed. That gives you the advantage of playing the second leg at home. Also from memory I think it gives the better end at Wembley for your fans and pick of what shirt to wear - someone correct me if I’m wrong. Next thing you want is to be the form team out of the 4 clubs in the play offs. If you rested any of your key players leading into the playoffs or failed to win any of those last few matches near the end of the season then you won’t be the form team in the play offs and basically might as well resign yourself to playing in the Championship again before you start, more so this season as it’s starting to look likely there will more than one form team. It would be funny to see Millwall stuff it up themselves but I would think we’d all rather they beat Oxford.

…besides, I’ve heard in recent home games they’ve been raffling off the balls that will be used in the final home game as it will be the last game in the championship before they are a PL club. With that jinx hanging over them they won’t be able to afford to take chances by not going all out to win their remaining games 😂

See I’m not convinced. Both times they have played us along with the other games I happened to have seen this season, I think they have been bang average.

I just don’t buy into the belief on here that Oxford are any good, they were woeful at Derby at the weekend

Without having watched all their games this season I could be wrong but I'd say there is a pretty high chance Oxford have been 'bang average' far more often than Wrexham have this season.

No no no that's not how it works, they're going to get 7 or even 9 points in their last 3 games, nailed on, no questions asked, and we'll be lucky to get 1.

They weren't woeful at Derby. A narrow 1-0 defeat (xG 1.07 vs 0.68). They created very little, but neither did Derby also.

Oxford's game plan is similar to ours really. Keep it tight, and hope to nick a goal. In recent weeks they've done that better than we have. Unbeaten in 5 at home.

I can certainly see Oxford getting 6 points.  From the highlights it looks like they were unlucky v Derby.  Playoff chasing results were very kind to us this weekend though with Wrexham still in with a real chance.. I think we need a Wrexham win massively and to hope we pick up a point v Hull (I see nothing v Ipswich).
Were Oxford unlucky in the same way we were against Wrexham and some others recently, either way we both still lost, my point is just because they were unlucky doesn’t mean they are going to win the next two games🤷🏻‍♂️

yeah, I flicked between the three early games. They were shite; didn't cause Derby any problems, took a few shots from outside the box, and didn't make the Derby keeper work. There's almost a desperation to think they are suddenly going to become peak city on a run in, to prove a point about ourselves.

If this happens, let's just park the bus against Ipswich and get the point to kill off the season.

    So you didn't watch it.
They remained a threat in the game until the end. Other than the goal there wasn't a huge amount in it.
Believe me, I'm not desperate for them to be world-beaters but I am realistic and they have shown far more heart and desire than we have in the last 6 weeks or so.
I hate having to rely on other teams but that's the position in which we find ourselves.

I watched the whole game, they were very poor. They conceded from their own corner (what's that like..), didn't manage to get a shot away in a one on one and when they did get a very good opportunity at goal it was because Derby gifted it to them and even then they wasted it. Derby could and should have won about 3-0 but they were very wasteful in their approach play, partially because they didn't want to give the ball to Brereton Diaz, and partially because sometimes they did give the ball to Brereton Diaz and you understood why they didn't want to give it to him. Oxford are organised and defend well but they can't deal with pace and struggle to create serious chances or sustain pressure. They are an awful lot like current us but fortunately we have 6 more points than them.

Will be interesting to see how Derby adapt to not having Agyemang or Clark for the rest of the season. Bereton-Diaz hasn't really impressed me at all but Carlton Morris will always cause problems at this level , shame we didn't have the financial clout to get him last summer.

Think this will happen whatever the score in the other games, Ipswich will be all over us again, like they were in the away game, but they are very open to a counter attack, we just need to be up for a scrap...

Wrexham kept Stoke at arms lenght at the weekend, didn't give up a shot on target, and have better attacking options then Derby do. But some will still say Oxford will roll them over

If Oxford lose I will be in chill mode. I think that’s their race run if they lose.
