No gains tonight as we also lost at home to Wrexham.

However Oxford beat Ipswich at home in November so anything less is a swing in Oxfords favour vis a vis our results.   The fact a draw keeps us up and sends them down is very baffling.

Had to laugh this morning at reports of Pompey players and fans celebrating on the pitch last night like they'd won the FA Cup, after losing 5-1 at Coventry, apparently they're safe for another year...😉

Would be surprised if the WBA deduction was anything more than 3 points. More likely to be 2 and they'll be fine.

    It will be 2 points

I can see Ipswich beating West Brom and QPR who have nothing to play for. I can see us (don’t laugh) grabbing a point. They may lose at Southampton. Millwall will win their last two games. It’s going to be very close and may be down to GD.

Ipswich can afford to lose one of their three remaining games, and that assumes Millwall win both their games - the goal difference is too big for Millwall to close. I was at the Stoke game last night and would expect Hollywood or Southampton would be too strong in the play offs for Millwall - Stoke are atrocious (but they continue to have massive injury issues) and Millwall were not impressive at all.

My prediction is Millwall finish third with Ipswich promoted and then they lose to Hollywood in the semi-final, before Hollywood lose to Southampton in the final.

    We can live in hope!

Probably won’t happen this season anyway as it’s unlikely to have any impact whatsoever. It all comes down to what Oxford do, if the win their last two games then it’s worth the RFl taking pints away from WBA. If Oxford fail to win at least one game then it’s worth the EFL applying points deduction next season

Is that when the Larkfield coach departs for The Valley?

Leicester should have cashed in on Fatawu in January, as his financial worth will have declined since then,  and with the money they could have strengthened their defence and signed a striker.

The second relegation will be a disaster for them,  as their income will tumble, but they'll still be stuck with highly paid deadwood. If those players couldn't be arsed this season,  they'll be even worse going to Bromley and Burton next season.

Great night, in my mind we are relying on others to fall short and tonight’s results were perfect . Oxford proper put it on second half, 16 shots
Every time i looked up to the screen in second half, it seemed Oxford had a free kick in attacking half ! How do they do that ?!

Do what: get free kicks or get in the attacking half?

Either way it's something that don't happen to us.

Leicester are fucked and I can see administration coming very quickly round the corner.

Whilst nowhere near the same scale, I am interested to see how Oxford would deal with a relegation if it indeed happened to them.

They spent a fair bit in January I seem to remember (or were they loans with relegation clauses in them?).... and they have a new ground to fund as well.

Football is in such a precarious place at the moment.

Maybe it's just be, but again, I thought Oxford were awful, Wrexham did what was needed, and could have put the game to bed earlier.

Oxford are a poor side, but they are staying in games, and there's always a chance if you do that of nicking a goal.

We've just been better at winning and getting results then them, hence 6 points more. But some will still insist they'll win both games left

Oxford are an interesting one, wealthy Indonesian based owners and they did go on a January spending spree to try and keep themselves up , think Donley from Spurs had a £4m option to buy if they stay up and McDonnell from Forest was a seven figure permanent.

Think they're one of those sides that's just going to yo-yo between L1 and the Champ until they get the new stadium built.

I wonder if Bromley have had a stroke of luck with the timing of their promotion.
It seems likely that the strength of the Sheffield Wednesday and Leicester teams may continue to deteriorate and they may even have more points deductions coming their way.
As the favourites for promotion are usually the relegated sides, this might mean League 1 is a bit less daunting this year and might give Bromley a better chance of consolidating their position in the division.

No one will insist they will win both games; but it's not unreasonable to think they may beat the statistically worst team ever in the Championship, at home in their next game..

I don't think many give them much hope v Millwall but it's a one off game at that stage and who knows if Millwall will have any motivation by then or not?

I'd rather we got a point in our next two games and didn't have to worry about them at all to be honest.

Especially after what Barnsley did in 2020, winning their last two games against promotion chasing sides, games that nobody gave them a chance of winning.

I thought we played pretty good to be honest and I’m usually our biggest critic. Yeah Stoke were shit, we made some silly mistakes at times, but thought our overall play was decent. I’ve seen us play a lot worse than that this season. Still, 2nd in the league after 44 games. You don’t get there by chance. You get a few false positions in the early stages of the season but not after 44 games.
