if you do not get my 'mossad black op' comment is a joke, then there is no hope for the world.Diebythesword said:
I was making an observation about the art, I'm not sure why me doing that is seemingly a worse thing than the two comments i highlighted but hey, as I said, there are some odd people on here!Callumcafc said:

I support the Palestinian people and my profile pic went up when i was raising just over 16k for a charity that was helping the people being slaughtered during recent years.... doesn't mean I'm pro hamas though and the actions of them. I definitely think that the Palestinian people should have a home and these issues have been widely caused by the Balfour declaration which was enacted by us Brits.
The Golders green event by the person with mental health issues was awful, as were all the other 1000's of knife related incidents in this country over the last 12 months.
As yet I'm unaware of any manifesto being found declaring direct potential targeting of Jewish people, even though we've been told that it was his sole intention.
I would say though, if we continue down this route the thread will end up being closed and it would be a shame.
There are some odd, odd people here. Well, great sculpture nonetheless, perhaps people could take “their flag” out of their eyes for a second.MrOneLung said:

Anyways, to keep on topic, it is obviously a very thought provoking piece of art, as evidenced just by this thread, so I would say it has met its raison d'être1 -

What was so bad about my comment ? If it was a racially motivated attack its obviously disgusting, but the only people saying it was are the media. There are 3 victims and we are only being told the ethnicity of 2. Im going out on a limb, but I'm guessing Ishmail Hussein isnt Jewish. There's only 1 person on this thread with a Nationalistic outlook and it certainly isnt me.3 -
Just as a reminder, you said: “Perhaps somebody should have a think about their profile pic in relation to this bit of art…”Diebythesword said:

Not sure the conversation would’ve even gone there otherwise.Other comments you highlighted are a separate discussion that I don’t wish to engage in due to expectation that it will get this thread closed (it’s probably already there anyway).0 -
I met my wife whilst working in Waterloo Place in the 80s so it’s quite clearly a depiction of me blinded by love stepping into the unknown!15

I just can't fathom how Banksy after all these years has never been totally identified. Especially in this day and age with CCTV and social media. Really hope that continues0

Its been known in circles for years and the media seemed to respect it, but unfortunately Reuters decided to do a deep dig into it all this year, not Idea why as there must be more important things to report on.Karim_myBagheri said:

Back to the Art of Banksy, I saw Keith Allen share this piece a few weeks ago, apparently he hung from a scaff pole (not a euphemism) in Banksys studio to model for this work that went up in Bristol many years ago, thats the collage which became the reference image.1 -
He has been distracted for the last 20 years thinking of Nigel Farage's arse!DennisBooth said:

I was under the impression that those even venturing within a tiny bit of political conversation would be banned by the moderators.
In terms of history 2026 is the 100 year anniversary of the seminal British General Strike, which had marches and banners and flags, so maybe Banksy has created a memorial to those brave idealists that participated in that General Strike.

Maybe that's what makes the Banksy piece so clever, that it encourages discussion in places where it wouldn't usually be a thing. I wasn't taken with it at first, but it's growing on me.jose said:Isn’t it true that despite everything political comments are on this thread and the fuel thread?

I think there is a common disdain in the art world for Banksy.EugenesAxe said:My friend who is curator at Tate Modern just sent me this
They say he has a 50 million pound bank account and given his subversive subject matter the two are hardly compatible.
Either way I like his new work. My suspicion lies around the H&S aspect of a large lump of metal balancing on one foot above a London Street. I reckon Westminster council must've had more input than they're letting on. They're certainly revelling in the reflective glory.2 -

There is definitely snobbery against street art/graffiti as a genre, which is a shame as people like Banksy and Keith Haring deserve a spot. The 'beyond the streets' exhibition in 2023 at Saatchi was incredibly well attended for months, so there's definitely a appetite for it.Raith_C_Chattonell said:

Tate modern is a bit of a wasted opportunity, unless you're paying for one of the specialist exhibitions that change 3 times a year then you could attend years apart and the exact same work be on display.2 -

One of her favourite pieces of conceptual art is "Evidence Locker" by Jill Magid, just as some context for you, as that's the thing about Art isn't it, it's about context, and everyones perception of that is different.1 -
I said a very similar thing, and as a Curator you get assigned a particular space, some areas of the place do stretch the concept of Contemporary Art as they seem just as much a Museum. I've not actually been in there for a couple years now.shine166 said:
