This year's Champions League final will be only the 4th Champions League/European Cup final with 2 sides from different capital cities playing against each other, and first since 1971.

    1962: Benfica Vs Real Madrid
1966: Real Madrid Vs Partizan Belgrade
    1971: Ajax Vs Panathinaikos
    2026: Arsenal Vs PSG

Chelsea have been outrun by their opponents in every single league game this season.
35 times in a row. Until today, when they outrun Liverpool.
Although I think that says more about Liverpool.

Ousmane Dembélé has been named as Ligue 1 player of the season. He started just 9 games and has played the full 90 minutes once all season.

This year in the Bundesliga, the league’s top scorer (Harry Kane 36 goals) has scored the same number of goals as the second and third placed players combined (Denis Undav 19 goals, Serhou Guirassy 17 goals)

If West Ham are relegated it would mean 14 of the 17 teams that have finished 9th in the Premier League since 2009 will have been relegated within 5 years.

It's still possible the other 3 could as well:

    2022 - Brighton
    2023 - Brentford
    2025 - Bournemouth

Dara O'Shea played every minute of the 46 game season for Ipswich without picking up a yellow card.

That’s pretty impressive, even more so given he rugby tackled Kelman

If Jadon Sancho plays in the Europa League final for Villa tonight, he'll have played in 3 different European finals for 3 different clubs in the last 3 years.

2024 Champions League final with Dortmund
2025 Conference League final with Chelsea
2026 Europa League final with Villa

Clapton CFC vs Rayleigh Town had an attendance of 2,375 on the weekend
It was the Play-Off Final for the Eastern Counties League Division One South, tier six of Non-League Football
The games attendance was higher than three Saudi Pro League games from the same weekend
Is that the football hotbed that is hosting the world cup in eight years time?  :(
    Forest Gate?

Unai Emery has now won the Europa league with 3 teams with "villa" in their name: Sevilla, Villarreal
and Aston Villa. Or as Google AI reports it, 'Unai Emery has completed the iconic "Villa" Europa League treble'.

Unfortunately you don’t get a yellow for a two arm wrap tackle in rugby.

The coach of the Haiti national football team, who'll take them to the World Cup this summer, has never been to Haiti.

Neither have several of the players.
  • Over 120,000 tickets were sold for the 2026 Championship playoff final.

Next season will be the first in the 138 year history of the top flight that hasn’t included a team whose name begins with a W.

David Corbett owner of Pickles the dog was rewarded £6000 for finding the World Cup - that's six times more than the England squad got for winning it.

There are 99 players named in squads for this year's world cup who were born in France. They would have cleared 100 but there are 3 players in the French squad who were born elsewhere.

According to Opta, from the top 20 leagues around the world, only 1 player (in Ecuador) had fewer defensive contributions per 90 than Kylian Mbappe this season.

There will be 8 sets of brothers taking part in the world cup - but 4 will be playing for different countries:

    Souttar - Scotland/Australia
    Doue - France/Ivory Coast
    Williams - Spain/Ghana
    Brobbery/Luckassen - Netherlands/Ghana

The 4 for the same country are:

    Bacuna - Curaçao
    Hernandez - France
    Timber - Netherlands
    Duarte - Cape Verde

    From Le Monde.

In 1994 when USA last hosted the World Cup, football was the 67th most favourite sport in the US, just after tractor pulling in 66th place.

Now it’s in 3rd place - ahead of baseball!
