I bet AFKA must be tearing his hair out, thinking 'why on earth did I kick this one off'? Then again, whether we recognise it or not, climate change is the biggest thing in our lives and for some of the younger people it could very well be the thing that kills them. Yet, collectively we're still pissing around doing next to nothing and some are even at the point of denying it. Asking people to share, 'light hearted anecdotes about this mini heatwave' is akin to asking for some funny stories about people dying of COVID. The difference being, that this is far far more serious. We can remain silent. We could even close the thread. @cantersaddick and @Garrymanilow you both make very valid points in your information regarding all topics. I’m not denying burning fossil fuels is good or healthy for the planet but do I think every time it goes over 28 degrees it’s for that reason no, do I think it will be end of the world no, do I believe cow farts also warm the planet no. So let’s agree to disagree otherwise we will go on forever.Sometimes just enjoy the fact it’s sunny and warm rather than put a negative spin on it which unfortunately seems the norm nowadays. Thanks to everyone who didn’t call me stupid or other insults much appreciated takes the bigger and more intellectual person to not go down that route. Although the person who called me thick as Boxing Day turd that was pretty funny to be fair 😂.5

You obviously don't seem worried by it and hopefully you're right. There are numerous people in the world who can't ignore the problems facing them regarding the climate.

Well methane is the second biggest contributing gas to the greenhouse effect which is directly driving up the temperature of the Earth, and the biggest contributor to methane emissions is livestock, but sure we'll let you wave the play the ultimate Denier's trump card of "agree to disagree"1

This week has been a typical week in the life of a south east water customer, either we have had no water, or very low pressure.We are already being told that, when we have water, we should only use it for essential purposes.This follows on from a hose pipe ban last summer that went deep into the winter, and all signs are that another ban is just around the corner.For this ‘service’ we pay almost £70 a month.Before long I expect to see a tv ad with Ewan McGregor asking for donations to provide water supplies for West Kent.4

Interesting though looking back over the thread, there are some who are happily trying to put those who have an opposite opinion to right, but were happily bragging about driving gas guzzling cars for a bit of fun on the fuel shortages thread, but didn't understand the damage they do to the environment, or didn't care when it suits.0

There are some fundamental issues here. Firstly London is in the wrong place. If it had been in Applecross, Scotland then would have peaked at 14 degrees C last week. Can't blame the Romans, just blame the English.Secondly cannot believe a thread about hot weather has got a few posters all riled up cause they cannot accept differing opinions. Happy there were a few funny posts in between. But blimey lighten up everyone 🙃1

part of the hopeless south east water wankers as well. I live now in a rural place. I cant get on their priority list. Last year several times I was without water for weeks on end. We have a perfect storm of a privatised monopoly that has prioritised profit, shareholder dividends and high executive salaries and bonuses. The South East being the most water stressed and driest part of the country. Climate change that is bringing wetter winters and drier springs and summers. Too many new houses without the infrastructure to cope with the extra demand. All new houses should be built with rainwater harvesting, water recycling so that grey water can be used for flushing toilets. Solar panels should be mandatory on all new houses. And for some reason despite being a nuclear power we let all that knowledge drain away and now if we want a nuclear power station we have to beg a French company to build it for us. I mean i know its a stretch to say nuclear power is green but still.
