Mexico in the Azteca followed by Brazil in the heat of Miami doesn't look easy.Callumcafc said:It’s quite straightforward for England who know the paths to the semi final, whichever position they qualify.

We are going out for the three group games - flights including internals, match tickets and 13 nights accommodation (3 Dallas, 5 Boston and 5 NY) has worked out around £7k each. There will be quite a lot of beer tokens required on top of that. We’ve also got tickets for the final and that’s about the same again for match tickets, flights and accommodation but all refundable if we don’t make the final.ElfsborgAddick said:cafctom said:
It’s an expensive trip, but genuinely could be a lot worse.ElfsborgAddick said:
For the amount of dough it's costing you I hope you have a bloody good time.cafctom said:I’m flying to America next week, starting in Chicago…the first of ten cities on my trip.
Yes, there will be parts of it that will be a ballache, too expensive, too hot, too corporate etc.
But it’s an event that comes around every four years, and life’s too short to find the negative in everything.Bring it on.
Tickets, accommodation, flights all in this is setting me back about £5-6k for a three week trip.
If we get to the Final and I end up going back out for it then that number doubles. Even as a member of the England Supporters Club. Thats the part that I find is really disgusting from a price perspective, because they actually take the money off of you (£3k for a ticket) before the tournament and hold onto it!
But that factor aside, it is doable to make the rest of it seem reasonable. I literally pressed the pause button on my TV when Englands name came out the hat so I could start booking flights, hotels etc on free cancellation before anything surged too much.Whilst this is not loose change, I would have thought this would have been a bit more. However, for major tournaments around the world nothing is cheap.I hope you come back thinking it was money well spent.
is that money well spent? All relative of course but the memories of sharing that trip with my beautiful boys will live long in their memories after I’m long gone. For me that is worth every penny, and if we get to the final and win it? Absolutely priceless.8 -

Got a feeling the QF is 5pm local time in Miami as well so just a little bit warm!Chris_from_Sidcup said:

Indeed. For every pint you buy, the government will contribute 40% in inheritance tax relief - as good as a pension!2

Big upsets in mine include Uruguay beating Argentina very early on in the tournament, a couple of big names not winning their groups and therefore meeting other big sides earlier, and us beating Colombia in a knockout game, breaking Mexican hearts in the last 16 in Mexico City, only to lose to Brazil in a World Cup Quarter Final (sound familiar?)1 -

I was in Miami last August and it at least has a bit of sea influence and breeze there. We went as far up as Georgia and thats where it got unbearable......0 -
A song about a Georgia summer. One of my favourite REM songs
Mercury is rising stillTurn the fan on highI won't step on my own shadowNo one wants to crySomeone put a pox on meI'll spit in their eyesSummer turns to highWith my bed-sheet cape and sandalsCircle citronella candlesSummer's here, the light is raising hopes and dragonflies. If those hopes are overshadowed by cotton candy, caramel appleSummer turns to highSummer turns to highSummer turns to highSummer highAfter wine and nectarinesThe fireflies and timeMove like syrup through the evening with the sweet resignI won't pine for what could have been-I'm preoccupied0
