    Tickets available for the final for $7500 in the gods on the fifa official site
    BA flights and decent hotels not silly money
    Do you take the chance?

    Tickets could easily be sold (might lose money though)
    Cancellable hotel
    Rebookable flight

    If we do get there those tickets will be double the price

    I was at Wembley and Berlin is it 3rd time lucky and how much is it worth the gamble ???

    It’s a gamble but buying through FIFA site makes it slightly less of a gamble? You will easy resell them back if we don’t make it?  I didn’t look at the final but the quarters and semi finals have definitely come down on the FIFA resell site today.

    It’s complicated as I only gamble when @PeanutsMolloy talks !!

    It’s quite straightforward for England who know the paths to the semi final, whichever position they qualify.

    Qualify 3rd
    R32 -> 1st Group K in Kansas City (Portugal)
    R16 -> 1st Group B in Vancouver (Canada / Switzerland)
    QF -> 1st Group J (Argentina) in Kansas City
    SF in Atlanta

    Qualify 2nd
    R32 -> 2nd Group K in Toronto (Colombia)
    R16 -> 1st Group H in Dallas (Spain)
    QF -> 1st Group D/G in Los Angeles (USA/Belgium)
    SF in Dallas

    Qualify 1st
    R32-> 3rd Group K in Atlanta (as long as 3rd Group K qualified)
    R16 -> 1st Group A in Mexico City (Mexico)
    QF -> 1st Group C in Miami (Brazil)
    SF in Atlanta
    We have booked flights in to Dallas for the 3rd July... booked the hotels all the way through to the finals for the two routes.  All hotels can be cancelled before the cut off needed, obviously we will let one lot go once we know where we qualify. Fly out of NY two days after the final - ho ho.  The UK flights are also changeable.

    Last week i looked at the hotels again and rebooked some of them saving over £1,000 as the price of the hotels have dropped drastically - not the take up they thought?

    Don't have any tickets for any games but really hope to get at least one but going with the view there is a chance we might not even get to see one... possibly a mistake not going earlier.

    You are only 60 once and given Tavern was born in 66 we think it’s worth a go.  Fingers crossed.
    Are you looking for tix to the England - Ghana game, because I’ve got two spares. Up in the gods, section 312, row 25. PM me if you’re interested.
    Thanks but I’m coming out afterwards. Let us know if you end up with any more spares for the knockouts!

    We did the same on hotels, Bren. Rebooked all 13 nights accommodation a week or so ago into better quality and located hotels actually, and saved the thick end of $2,000
    Woke up to another price alert this morning so changed another booking and saved 300 quid!

    All hypothetical of course as we might not be playing in Miami! Bloody hope so tho. See you out there Bob if we make it all the way!

    We can dream..

    Impressive by Scotland.  If Dykes had played that half, they'd have scored 8.

    If we get there we are on the red eye from Heathrow at 7.45am - gets in to Newark at 10.30 for a 15.00 kickoff - at a wedding the day before!
    So unlikely to have had any sleep for 48 hours but will be wide awake if we win! Fly back on the Monday night.

    See you in Times Square for the celebration!

    Yep, a massive storm here last night. Not surprising given the Austin stadium is open air. Both of the stadiums in Texas that will be used for the tournament in Dallas and Houston have retractable roofs and will be kept closed for all games.
    Are you in Texas then Callum?....just hope games without roofs don't get held up like the Saudi game, a 10pm KO may not finish till 2am.

    I think the games most in danger of being stopped due to weather are the ones in Miami and Mexico.

    The Canadian venues and Seattle will be fine, San Fran doesn't get hurricanes and storms anything like the cities on the Gulf of Mexico.

    Atlanta, LA, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta all have roofs, and unless there's a major heatwave the other American stadiums are far enough North and Central to not really get affected by much.

    Lightening is the issue right? There’s a set time they have to go off for if there’s lightening nearby

    It’s if the lightning is within a set distance from the stadium. It’s either 7 or 8 miles, I think. Play is stopped and you have to have a period of 30 minutes with no lightning within that radius to start again.

    Yes it's within 8 miles according to that post I posted with regards to the Saudi game.

    I think there's only three scenarios where you don't lose money.

    1. England reach the final
    2. Argentina reach the final (probably Messi's last ever international game)
    3. Portugal reach the final (probably Ronaldo's last ever international game)

    If the final is Argentina v Portugal, then god only knows what tickets will cost for a Messi v Ronaldo final.

    Yep - happens in the NFL sometimes. Although they’re not usually playing in the middle of the summer. Another stupid decision from
    FIFA.

    Whoever wins The World Cup hosts it 4 or 8 years later.
     If a team then wins it again at home then it goes to the runners up.
    Simple.

    Whether they can afford to or not?

    Costs millions - might not if FIFA didn't pocket billions from it but can't see that changing....

    An over night incident near (described as a short drive) their base camp in Kansas City, Missouri. The players are still in Florida.

    Don’t make it so difficult to afford. 16 teams in four groups in four stadiums is enough. It’s only because FIFA wants to make it into a circus that it costs so much.

    European teams should play in the Nations league and the top team in each group should qualify directly from that. That gets rid of all the boring, unnecessary and costly qualifying system.

    Judging by the NZ game, if it was the England players practicing there would only have been a few shots and they all would have been high and well wide.

    Named by FIFA to officiate during the World Cup, the Somali referee 🇸🇴 Omar Artan was denied entry to U.S. territory

    Due to his difficulties in obtaining a visa, he had benefited from the support of the Somali embassy in Nairobi, which notably enabled him to obtain a diplomatic passport

    Insufficient for the American authorities, who immediately sent him back...
