Back in 94 I had just moved to New York for work and went to a few games there, Bulgaria v W. Germany being one, cannot tell you how different the atmosphere of these games are. I don’t think anyone I worked with back then had a clue about the World Cup. I think the US have embraced this pretty good. I wasn’t sure I would but I’m really enjoying it. My Mrs is at a family wedding this week in Boston said it’s been totally taken over by the Scots but in very good spirits.

Find Danny Murphy a pain in the backside. Just regurgitating the same old nonsense time after time.

Every time Olivier Giroud appears on screen I think “Why have they got that dopey sod Rylan on the football?”
    🤦‍♂️

Supposed comment by boss of UEFA:
”We have a huge number of matches that are completely uninteresting.”
Now, we may think that, although the supporters of those countries most definitely won’t and it’s a dreadful comment by someone in his position.
It's a perfectly reasonable comment actually, I wish more people in positions of power in football spoke up about how shit it is.

We already had minnows qualifying for the world cup with 32 teams, 48 is ludicrous and just a cash grab, and judging by how empty the stadiums have been so far, not a great one at that
Totally disagree, it’s incredibly disrespectful to the people who play for and support those minnows and I think everyone in Cape Verde will back me up. It’s a conversation to be had in private.

Doesn’t do any research at all.

Also, how bad is Giroud as a pundit? Do they even screen test these guys before chucking them out there?

Giroud is up there with the worst pundits I've ever seen.

Doesn't say anything interesting and then mumbles and pauses to make it even worse.

Oh God, Danny Murphy's on co-comms for Belgium Egypt. May have to mute, and put the radio on.
I’m watching in Türkiye and can’t understand a word except for the players’ names.

Don't forget to get your tv licence. Hoping for another reminder before the end of the programme.

If Egypr had a bit of composure up top they could be 3-0 up here.

I never understand how a defender blatantly shoving a striker in the back when they shoot is not a foul.

Other way round and the defender gets the decision 100% of the time.

Oh stop, it’s a bit of strength and a shoulder. Proper defending.

    Exactly.
Sometimes you get a penalty because you were touched.
Steve Gerard got a penalty for Liverpool v Sheff U without even being touched.
    It was given for intent.
But shove a player over as he's about to shoot and that's fine.
    Make it make sense.

I think the idea is so you can see the skyline of the city from the rest of the stadium, does look odd though. They design a lot of stadiums over there to get the city backdrop.
