Two very different nights out this week.

The Stranglers on Tuesday outside at Hampton Court, which seemed to work surprisingly well, with a hits set which went down nicely. Ticketholders were welcome to use the grounds for a few hours beforehand, lovely and all a bit surreal, I shouldn't think m&s picnics would have featured much in their somewhat chequered history.

Thursday night, Andrew Cushin at Signature Brew brewery in Walthamstow. A few technical delays but a great evening. Two good supports, including the Rolling People, a young band who we really like. Seen him three times now, a decent character as well, happy to come down from the stage at the end for photos and signatures. Nice to see a snippet of his latest tune is being used on the BBC's World Cup coverage.

Trip to Musgrave aka Virgin Media Park Cork last night to see Skunk Anasie and Alanis Morisette.

Fecking brilliant. Skin is still awesome and the female rage that was palpable in the audience as we all belted out ‘You outta know’ was unreal.

I might slightly ache this morning from the dancing 😎🤣🤣

Watched The Sex Pistols and Frank Carter live at the IOW Festival on catch up last night.

Oh the irony, Frank Carter belting out Pretty Vacant and Anarchy in the UK whilst wearing a Stone Island Jacket…….

Took my wife to see Take That, with Belinda Carlisle & The Script tonight (booked it ages before the football fixtures were announced). Not 3 acts I’d normally go to see but all put on a really good show. Getting home from The London Stadium is a fucking nightmare though

Read this a couple of days ago, very sad. I’d heard he had dementia as he’s been using a ghost bass player behind the scenes to fill in for him when he lost his place mid song. Was just too young to see The Jam before they split but managed to see From The Jam when Brice and Rick Buckler were playing.

Poor Bruce really has been put through the wringer health wise in recent years. Lovely to see him being so positive and I really hope that he’s right and knowing his diagnosis and getting the right meds. Would love to see him playing live again.

Metallica at the Olympic Stadium last weekend. Was freaking boiling in there!
  • Wolf Alice at Finsbury Park were amazing. My favourite band right now. It doesn’t seem long ago they were playing small venues in London. The Last Dinner Party and Lykke Li provided decent support, but felt tame compared to Wolf Alice.

Went to the Tunbridge Wells Forum on Sunday to watch Inspiral Carpets... They were amazing. It was sweltering in there and they even had a Hydration Break in between, to the amusement and relief of everyone.

I planned to go to this until I realised it clashed with Wolf Alice at Finsbury Park. Sounds like a good gig at a venue that gets very sweaty when it's packed.

Saw Duran Duran supported by Scissor Sisters and Chic/Nile Rodgers on Sunday at Hyde Park.

DD excellent and impressed by the organisation of the event.

Went to Kasabian on Saturday at Finsbury park, quality gig and Razorlight supporting were excellent.

Didn't really watch any of the others and when that bloke sung North London Forever I totally switched off.

Saw Razorlight a couple of weeks ago, they were really punchy, not something I’ve ever seen from them.

Yeah it a cracking little venue. I also watched The Smyths (cover band) on the Friday & Saturday. If you like The Smiths they're a really good cover... thoroughly recommend...

Heard some of the new album, due out later this year, and it sounds really good.

Yeah they did about 5 tracks from the new album and they all went down well. It was such a quality evening out, except the outrageous heat. I live in TW so get down there 4 or 5 times.... Next up The Bluetones in September. Actually got a few exciting gigs lined up, ending on a real high with Johnny Marr in October at Wembley OVO... not been there for yonks !!

I saw My Chemical Romance at Wembley last night, and I thought it was the best concert I have ever seen.
They were magnificent from start to finish, the energy never dropped, it just grew.
From concept to intimacy these guys nailed it.
And a shout out to the support act Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, they had Wembley rocking within a few moments of starting their set.

    An absolutely awesome night!
  • From Wolf Alice last Sunday to Ludovico Einaudi at the O2 five days later. Very different but not so much at times. Two brilliant shows.

I went to MCR on the 8th and have to agree that they were absolutely fantastic. Been a fan since 2005 and this was my first time seeing them, genuinely blew my mind how good they are live

I did all 3 Finsbury Park gigs last weekend, Biffy, Nothing but Thieves and Wolf Alice all top draw, Razorlight and Miles Kane both surprisingly good, The K's were great, really enjoyed The Last Dinner Party even though I'm not their biggest fan, Kasabian were good but a lot of their younger fans are absolute twats - just there to get pissed and make a mess, saw so many kicked out for being too drunk long before Kasabian had even taken to the stage!!!
