    A greatest hits run through and a great show. Dave Rodigan was on good form and The Hot 8 Brass Band (new one for me) were really good. Kid Kapici a bit hit & miss. 

    If I’d been paying attention, I’d have stayed down there for today (Maccabees, Editors, Miles Kane, Ash, Badly Drawn Boy, Anna Calvi). 

    An absolute ballache getting out afterwards though.

    I thought today's lineup looked good. I particularly like Editors and Anna Calvi. I didn't realise it was on. Fortunately, the Madness show finished by 10, so I was able to get away from the Concorde2 gig with relative ease.

    Madness finished at 10.30. 90 minute set which was 30 odd minutes shorter than the Christmas gigs. I wonder whether that was something to do with Chrissy Foreman’s health. He did the whole set last night and spoke a bit, but you can see it’s drained him.

    Shout out to the fellow Addicks at Latitude last weekend. Bigger shout-out to Palarse supporting comedian Chloe Petts who told me I was committing a hate crime wearing a Charlton shirt.

    The Flaming Lips was the standout band of the weekend, probably followed by Wet Leg and Jalen Ngonda. Latitude is always about the comedy for me though - got chatting to up and coming comic Lucas Jones-Ho who lives in Charlton and has a season ticket. Watch out for him...

    Australian octet Ukulele Death Squad at Brixton Hootananny last night.  Slightly less mad than a box of frogs but not lacking in fun and good music.  The guy in the see-through nightie, he's the one with the beard, his sister was similarly attired but less hirsute, wasn't a pretty sight but he sure could sing.

    Will be about for the Norwich game on October 24th.
    Difficult choice between Transvision Vamp on 22nd or Swervedriver on 23rd.
    We've seen Swervedriver before albeit back in '93 so opted for Transvision Vamp at Shepherds Bush Empire.

    Victorious Festival last weekend.

    Ashcroft, White Lies and Primal Scream were brilliant.

    Really enjoyed the The Coral, The Vaccines and Hard-Fi.

    Doves were a bit disappointing but still tried hard to enjoy it as I love some of their songs.

    Happy Mondays were good/entertaining and had the fortune of meeting Bez, their current bassist (Michael) and tour manager in a hotel they were staying in next to our campsite.

    I’ve been meaning to write this for a while, but tonight got me going. It’s not about a band, but about a local live music scene, and how important that is. 

    Where is live, we’ve got a bunch of small venues, most less than 100 capacity, but some larger. And every night someone is playing. Normally someone you’ve never heard of ,and probably never will, but if you just take a chance, you never know what you’ll find. 

    Tonight I went to see a local band I’d seen a few times, always entertaining, never going to be famous. They were in a basement bar with three bands I’d never heard of before. It was a real fun evening. Every band, all playing original songs, put on a show. Three new bands for me to follow, and hopefully see again. 

    That’s the fourth show in the last couple of weeks, all in small rooms, all different types of music, none more than $20 to get in, two were free, just dump money in the bucket. Nobody is making money from this, apart from the venue. Band just playing for the love of playing. 

    I still love big touring bands - the Pretty Reckless are up next - but these small shows are just an absolute joy. Life would be much duller without them. 

    Get out there, support local bands and venues, you’ll miss them when they’re gone.

    Despite previous acrimony between certain members, my mate has manged to get his old Mod revival band, The Rage back together for a gig at the 100 Club in December. Original line up including Jeff Shadbolt from The Purple Hearts and Buddy Ascott from The Chords. Should be a great night.

    Always special to get a front row seat, particularly when it’s seeing Blondshell at her album lunch at Resident Music record shop in Brighton. A short, stripped back set but fabulous to be there.

    Our EP Launch is on Saturday 10th October at Blondies Bar in London. After Charlton V Bristol City at home.

    If you would like to come then it would be amazing to have some Addicks there. We'll be playing our new single "The Valley (Home Again)" and maybe "Tyreece Campbell" live....

    Only 70 capacity so will be a nice intimate rock gig!

    If you want to come it's only £12 for a single ticket or 2 for £20.

    Afternoon fellow Addicks...

    Did anyone on here have tickets for Jonny Marr at Wembley Ovo ?? The event got cancelled and refunded pretty soon after. Was told it would be rearranged but not heard anything for probably 2 months now and nothing being advertised on Social Media about it....

    Two gigs in two nights! The second one was Prewn at The Garage near Highbury & Islington station, a venue I’ve always liked. I wasn’t expecting anything special but they were very good and really rocked at times - not what I expected having listened to their recent album.

    Saw bloc party at rough trade today.  Their new album live set. Songs are truly awful, what a difference to their fantastic debut. 

    Exciting October.  Strokes + Angine de Protrine (not together).

    My neice flew over to visit as a band she likes were playing at the Clonakilty Guitar Festival in DeBarras Folk Club.
    Haiver were the band, from Glasgow. And bloody good they were too. Thoroughly recommend.
    It was the first time I’d experienced the festival and it was jolly good. Lots of free stuff in all the pubs. A really good vibe in the town. If you’re into your music it’s definitely one to attend 👍🏼

    The Crooks at 229 London on Saturday. Decent litte venue, a new one for me. First time I've seen them, strong oasis influence and some very decent tunes. A good evening after the Cardiff trip.

    Support were worth a mention, The Public Eye, really enjoyed them and will try to see them again. 

    A few personal favourites coming up again, Reytons, The Rifles, Freddie Halkon, Andrew Cushin, and the annual Shed Seven singalong.

    Jon Anderson and The Band Geeks at Bath Forum last Thursday.
    Awesome gig, mostly Yes songs with a smattering from their own 2024 album.
    81 years old and he still has the voice.
    Starship Trooper took me back to those happy carefree days in the 6th form common room.
    The constant stream of people to and from the loo told its own story of the audience age, although my daughter was with me and loved it.
    Had lovely few days in Bath, with a quick whizz over to Cardiff on Saturday morning to meet up with my son and be brought brutally back down to earth in the drizzling rain by our blinkin' football club
