I think if you’re comparing how we do our transfer business to how Chelsea do theirs you’re an insane person. At this level getting the contract length right is a big thing; too short on a good player and you lose resale value like with Lyle Taylor and too long on a bad player and their fee and wage become a problem for the club, like we had with Kirk and have with Ahadme. If we go down then we don’t want long Championship wage contracts on our books, which will be why Grant is on a 2 year deal, but giving 4 to Alli must mean his wage isn’t that high and we’re confident that he’s good enough to merit the outlay on a long deal. The amortisation of the fee will not be the basis of that decisionSteveACS said:

Wide players/wingers at this level are all inconsistent. That’s why they play at this level. Any wide men that can produce quality every game is not going to be found at Championship level.That’s the intriguing thing about them is that they can have a blinder one week and an absolute mare the next game.Lloyd Sam, Kyle Reid, Blackett Taylor all capable of the outrageous and all capable of dross.
So reviews of him will be very similar - capable but inconsistent. Let’s hope for more of the former than the latter.17 -
I’m cool with this signing. “Blows hot and cold” seems to be the description of almost every winger at Champ level and below (even at Prem level tbh) so I take those kinds of comments with a pinch of salt. We badly needed pace out wide/up top and 1v1 ability and now we have 3 in Alli, TC and Grant (and Apter if he can get his arse in gear) so we are definitely improved on that front from last season. Who knows how this will turn out but for now I’ll be backing Alli 100%.
Just need those 2 quality centre mids now please10 -

26, 4 year contract, based on his previous records, unlikely we make a profit unless he transforms as a player within 2 seasons.
If he has taken a big chunk out of our transfer budget then I think it's a poor signing as we need that money in key positions. If it's not gonna dent the budget and he's seen as a punt, could work out.6 -

They were asked to play on the left side because of the trend for inverse widemen.
TC is right footed and has pace and can certainly play on the right and Alli is two footed looking at his video so this really isn't a problem.
Grant can play both sides though did tend to play left and come central when for instance, Taylor was attacking down the right in Karlan's first time at CAFC.1 -
I predict he will be largely similar to Campbell with the difference being that RonnieMoore will love him whilst continuing to slate TC.14

We have Ramsey and McNamara to play traditional RB and the days of Bree and Clarke bombing forward as wing backs will be less. In many games Harry Clark would get our 1st chance in matches but he alway missed !
It feels like we will play 4-2-3-1 which will be a radical change and lots of work is needed so we are solid in defence and in transition.

I'm guessing we're going to see him on the right with TC/Grant on the left and Godden/Leaburn/Kelman up front. Apter (if he sticks around) to then have tired defenders to run at off the bench1

Not so much marquee signing, more two-man tent with a small opening vent on the right hand side!
It appears (reading between the lines) that Nathan is saying in the press release, that this guy is not really the first 11 standard he is seeking, but that he's been bought as a squad player, and better is needed, and very much hoped for!
Whether come season opener, those new quality signings have arrived, and we haven't let our own better players leave, time will tell.

Delving some more into his stats, I saw he scored 4 in 16 for Luton in the championship. Not too shabby for a wide player, especially when you consider that Luton went down that season. Also had a decent scoring record at Exeter, albeit it in league one.4

Quick, strong and likes a trick, he could get fans onside very quickly if the effort is there with a bit of end product. Good thing is if it's not we have Grant and TC (for now, on the latter, wouldn't be surprised if he's sold).0

Oftentimes last year we were competitive in games while TC was on the pitch and then fell behind when he faded or wasn’t about to offer a threat going the other way.fenaddick said:At the very least we won’t be running TC into the ground anymore which is positive
If we’ve got a TC clone here willing to offer a similar direct threat, it’s something we can sustain for a lot longer across a full season.3
