Jaydn bowled to give Bamber his fourth wicket

Blinked & it was FIVE.0

We’re not going to qualify unless Finch, Grant and Joey can cobble something together0
-
Wankers0

I wouldn't forget my boy Ekansh. Sadly, we aren't going to qualify anyway because Lancs are going to win.LenGlover said:We’re not going to qualify unless Finch, Grant and Joey can cobble something together0 -
Agree but there's something called pride.Addick Addict said:

Dawkins has had a horror of a tournament, at least SNE got a couple of 50's.1
-
Don't disagree with that. At least Finch and Ekansh have begun a fight back.Fanny Fanackapan said:

Maybe Peter G read my post, & ran onto the pitch between overs to relay to our batters ...Addick Addict said:

82-5 (17) and the dreaded drinks interlude that can be counter-productive for batters in breaking the concentration1
-
And there it is - Finch, inexplicably, the second ball he faces he plants it straight down the throat of long on for 31 (38)Addick Addict said:82-5 (17) and the dreaded drinks interlude that can be counter-productive for batters in breaking the concentration
83-6 (17.3)2 -
And then Ekansh does the same as Finch - this time off Linott and caught at long-off for 40 (42)
100-7 (20.2)1 -

Ran! 🥴3 -
I just had a walk right round the ground with my camera and took some snaps. It’s a little bit better than my old school in Sidcup.3
-
And Evison becomes the third consecutive batter to get caught in similar fashion. Out for 12 (21)
105-8 (24.4)
Start the engine1 -
Stewart has just hit three successive balls for six
154-8 (30)2 -
Grant Stewart has just hit 6, 6, 6 off Booth. That’s a little bit of pride restored. 154/8 off 30.0
-
Stewart just snaffled behind for 41. 161/90
-
Stewart caught off an inside edge by the keeper for 41 (34)
161-9 (31.4)

Well at least I had the good fortune to find a parking space right outside the gates here. We are staying about half an hour from here so we’ll be back in plenty of time for a family curry night in Nuneaton.
Milnes is just out lbw having just hit 4, 4, 6. Warks win by 87 runs.4 -
176 all out0

Merchant Taylor school, where we play Middlesex next week in the CC is another of those super impressive school grounds.Peter_G said:I just had a walk right round the ground with my camera and took some snaps. It’s a little bit better than my old school in Sidcup.1 -

Not sure if it’s already been mentioned but apparently the telegraph reported the other day that Zak Crawley was expected to sign a contract extension at the club for next year0

AA will be surprised (as am I). Wonder if it will be white ball only000__Jaaaaay__000 said:Not sure if it’s already been mentioned but apparently the telegraph reported the other day that Zak Crawley was expected to sign a contract extension at the club for next year1 -
His white ball record is hardly stellar, he's not going to make a lucrative living out of the T20 franchise leagues.fenaddick said:

And his red ball record this season has hardly been of the sort to attract richer counties either, so perhaps it wouldn't be that surprising if he stayed.2 -
Perhaps because of his red and white ball record not too many counties are going to come knocking. That one-year contract is the key. If he has a great season then he might be back in the England frame and become more attractive to other counties. If he doesn't then Compton and Dawkins (and assuming he finds his form) might put him under pressure for his place.fenaddick said:

With the cat out of the bag, courtesy of yesterday's Warwickshire commentator, Lintott joining permanently at the end of the season, the question remains about whether we will be offering Parkinson a new contract. Jaydn (left arm finger), Lintott (left arm chinaman) and Parkinson (leggie) all offer something different but, of the three, Jaydn is the work in progress both with bat and ball but is seen as the future. If Jaydn and Ekansh can develop to the extent that they become fixtures in all formats then we will never have issues with the balance of the side.3 -
The West Kent Hub has been named National Hub of the Year at the MCC Foundation Awards 2026. The award will be given at Lord's on Finals Day on Saturday 5th September. Having coached them throughout, Seb missed the final last year when his team won the U14s because of a golf trip but will be there this year with the U15s.Pedro45 said:
I have umpired three of the regional finals recently at which West Kent represented our county, against teams from Essex, Middlesex, Surrey, and Sussex. WK made the regional final match and won all of them.Addick Addict said:I've mentioned previously how things have changed in the last few years in terms of pathways available to youngsters.
In addition to the county age group squad, we now have five Regions that act as a feeder into the county side and that gives exposure to players who, in a former time, would never have been seen in action by county coaches. There are also the MCC Foundation squads - these cater for those who aren't a fixture in the county squad AND who go to a State school and who are again coached by county coaches. By definition, there are some players who might appear in both the Regional and MCC Foundation squads.
Last year, the Kent West U14s won the national MCC Foundation competition for their age group. A year on and with some of the same players, though certainly not all as some have progressed to the county side and others have come in that have impressed this year in trials, the U15s have progressed to the final at Lord's in September.
A fantastic achievement which serves to demonstrate the depth of talent in the county and that there is now an opportunity for those who go to a State school and who might previously been totally missed especially those that do develop later.6 -
Hasan Mahmud returned figures of 17-3-55-6 against Australia. What a find for us! Although he will miss the next CC match, he should be available for the four games in September. Bangladesh need to wrap him up in cotton wool until then!
