Biggest league away game for many years (since the prem days)? Fingers crossed we can keep it tight at the back for an hour and then could get interesting.0

Nice interview with Coventry on club website. Very level headed player.2

It’s already been noted that it will be the biggest attendance in England. Turns out that it will likely be the 3rd biggest in the whole of Europe ( I checked on Bundesliga, Ligue 1, serie A, La Liga.)BalladMan said:Biggest league away game for many years (since the prem days)? File under “ Here for the Charlton”😂2 -
The London Stadium today in front of a 62,500 crowdThis will be the highest attendance Charlton have played in front for a Second tier league fixture since they played Blackburn Rovers at the Valley in front of 56,435 on the 26th April 19586

I just hope it doesn't get to some of the newer players but i still see a 1-2 win.shirty5 said:The London Stadium today in front of a 62,500 crowdThis will be the highest attendance Charlton have played in front for a Second tier league fixture since they played Blackburn Rovers at the Valley in front of 56,435 on the 26th April 19582 -
Expecting a heavy defeat...0

I wouldn't take anything from that. Jones does not give his plans away and is more likely to misdirect.se9addick said:
Probably reading way too much into it, but from the Jones quotes on Cawley’s Substack today I get the impression 352 is a distinct possibility.fenaddick said:It could be chaos but I really want NJ to stick to his guns and play the 4231 rather than going to the 352. TC has the pace to cause them problems on the counter if he has support1 -
I would expect Leaburn to start as I think height is an issue for them at the moment.2

West Ham looked very shaky at the back against Burnley and thought they looked vulnerable on multiple occasions, even giving away a stupid penalty as player panicked. If we can attack them with pace and on the run, I think we will have some decent opportunities. However, there forwards are too good for this league, so can see 2-2 today.1

If we get that result I swear I will go out and drink Prague dry!stoneroses19 said:West Ham looked very shaky at the back against Burnley and thought they looked vulnerable on multiple occasions, even giving away a stupid penalty as player panicked. It’s not ’the highest attendance since’ if it’s higher. For ’the highest attendance since’ you have to go back further until you find one over 62,500. If you can’t find one then it’s ’the highest attendance ever’shirty5 said:The London Stadium today in front of a 62,500 crowdThis will be the highest attendance Charlton have played in front for a Second tier league fixture since they played Blackburn Rovers at the Valley in front of 56,435 on the 26th April 195810 -
Going for the same as Derby, 1 down, 2-1 win.2

I predict we will get at least a point.
West Ham will get better as the season progresses.
This is a good time to play them3 -
On one hand Jones has a knack of getting his teams to get good results in away games against strong teams.
On the other hand - Wrexham in league one, Millwall last year - we can also seem to get blown away if the team and crowd are really up for it.2 -
Feels like too much optimism on here. I hope you're right! I'm definitely treating this as a free hit, Preston at home is where we need the win.4

shame theres some on here think he's useless!😤charente addick said:Nice interview with Coventry on club website. Very level headed player.2 -
Not at all confident, and I'd have been more so if we were at home, but this is probably the best time to play them. Going for a thoroughly entertaining 2-2.0

This statement is so true. Yet they’re trying to rewrite history and make out they were nearly all against the move from the get go. Absolutely rubbish. Just have a look at the early comments on the thread about the stadium on KUMB. The vast majority were in favour of the move and excited about it taking them to ‘the next level’. Well that next level never came, not consistently anyway, and now of course they were always all against the move. Utter b*ll*cks.PragueAddick said:You know what, whatever the result, this is a landmark game for us. Hear me out, as they say...
It's hard to recall now but round about 2000-2005 that lot were a team we'd expect to get FAPL points off (if they were even in the FAPL with us). Based in Prague I used to pray they'd start Tomáš Řepka against us, because Robbo would torture him. It seemed like only a matter of time when we'd become a bigger club than them in London.
Then the wheels came off our wagon. And meanwhile along came the Olympics. And then came the shoddy deal for the Stadium. And then my little campaign to uncover how shoddy it was.
Because of that, I paid more attention to them than most. Yeah, I know, the club rather than the fans, but you know what? They were mostly for that stadium and didn't like anyone who questioned it. They certainly didn't like me on KUMB, but what bothered me was how Brady orchestrated intimidation of those few of their own fans who opposed it.
The thing was, even though we (there was a coalition of Supporter Trusts on the case) arguably won the argument, I always felt a tinge of sadness about it. I could not see how we would be playing there in my lifetime in a league game. I could not see it in 2018 when we'd got the whole deal out in the open. I certainly could not see it just 3 years ago when they all pitched up in Prague to win the EuroConference thing against Fiorentina. Two divisions between us, and financially on different planets.
And yet, tomorrow, here we are. At the Taxpayers' Stadium, in a league game. Think about that for a moment.
Rationally, we will do well to escape from there without a heavy beating. Yeah, well rationally 3 years ago this game was never going to happen. Football doesn't always do rational. And actually of all our recent managers I can't think of anyone better than Nathan Jones to lead us in there and show them what this league is about.
COYFR!And now they’re back down here in the second tier and they’re all giving it the Bertie big b*ll*cks and they’re going to piss the league and the standard is shit, the grounds are shit, the crowds are small, and they shouldn't even be down here anyway blah blah blah. Well I would absolutely piss myself if they nauced it up and blew it and failed to go straight back up.Yeah they’re a big club. Their crowds have rocketed since the move as they were able to offer cheap tickets to any floating fan and soccer tourist. But they’re no Arsenal. They’re not even an Everton. They’ve spent plenty of their history at this level but now they think they’re too big for it? Arrogant twats.Anyway, rant over. Carry on. 😁
(sorry for jumping on a thread that has nothing to do with Millwall. Just needed to get that off my chest 😂)19 -

we normally look very shaky up front so should cancel out nicely.0 -
Absolutely buzzing for today’s game and I don’t think we need to fear this West Ham side. Yes they have very good attackers, but they haven’t looked fit in either of their games so far. Portsmouth were getting in very promising positions. Burnley were walking through their midfield time after time. One thing we have which they don’t is finishers off the bench. If we keep this tight until 60-70, we can do what we did against Derby. UTFA.2

Looking forward to the occasion, pretty sure we’ll get smashed though.0
