The same man who told me we were getting Okonkwo also said we were getting JRS. I took the 2nd with a pinch of salt, but not it seems he was on the money. What surprises me is how much he knows given his no longer associated
Appleton has been in football a long time. He has numerous contacts.

All goes well JRS is signing next few days.
Mmmh, nothing is done until it's confirmed. Parish doesn't have much class and also likes to move goal posts out the blue.
Short delay due to Godden being injured again and thought was we might want to move funds to an ST. Attention back to JRS now.

We definitely need to shift a few players out. I imagine there are other Championship clubs in a similar position, let's hope there are enough L1 clubs with spaces in their squads...

It'll be interesting who does go out, as it may boil down to who attracts interest rather than who NJ really wants to move out. For example (hypothetically) he might want to keep Knibbs and loan/sell Apter, but if we get a good loan offer from Reading for Knibbs, with nobody interested in Apter, then it might end up with Knibbs going instead.

Really depends how many other  concrete offers are in for him, if not many he can’t be too fussy can he?
Agreed in reality and we don't wanna face it jrs is proper small fry to their own plans I actually doubt he gives that much of a f to be bothered and it's in the players court.

Do we think we’ll loan out Apter if we get JRS or keep him?
Spoke to a load of Bolton fans staying down in Camden, they really don’t like Rob 😅

From the Cawley and Mendez ost match pod, Cawley confirmed that Burnley are in for JRS.
He said it does depend to what level of Palaces demands they’re prepared to go to.
I’d suggest its also very much up to JRS then.
If he wants to be in London as some have suggested then that would probably tip the balance and force Palaces hand.

Any idea what Godden’s injury is and how long he’s out for?

They mentioned hamstring on the Cawley and Louis substack pod.

All this talk of Grant playing the 10 role I think is wide of the mark imo.

He might do it in-game if we are chasing a goal, but from the start I just can't see it in this setup. Jones requires a lot from the 10 role, on the ball like a traditional 10 but off the ball a lot more like an 8 but also often leading the press. They are expected to have exceptional workrate but also be positionally good and be able to drop into CM positions. Can't see Grant fitting that role unless we are in a throw everything at it situation.

For that reason I can't see Knibbs going anywhere. Would have to be Apter out on loan for me.
  • I wouldn’t mind Kanu staying as cover for Godden. Does he count to the squad numbers?

    Getting £18m for him?
Nuno made the offer when they shook hands after the game yesterday.

Think you have to imagine Doc is one of the outs now, can’t get in the match day squad ahead of Mwamba and will likely be 6th choice when Ouma is up to speed

As I suspected , we’re much better without him.

Like others have said, we need to use our squad and maybe give a few players a rest on Wednesday night?

I’d play Apter/Alli, Knibbs, Mbick, Collins and give a few players a chance to recover in time for Preston

No idea if it is a pull, strain or just tightness.  Hopefully the latter.

Probably not, When fit we would have
    Leaburn
    Kelman
    Godden
    Mbick
    Grant

DK is still surplus to requirements

Sounds like from the injuries Ramsay and Godden could be longer than expected but hoping Kelman is shorter than expected seeing as he was on the grass in the training video and the word from NJ was 2 weeks a week ago wasn’t it?

How long is Kelman out for?

think he does really well in this formation with his running / pressing

I think he’ll play a strong side but rest the usual suspects that really shouldn’t play 3 games in a week - Bell, Chalobah, Leaburn, Grant .  I’d probably rest TC too .

Also said he thought we wouldn’t be able to meet their demands and JRS wages etc, but he’s now heard that we are prepared to! It’s not a done deal though according Rich but sounds a lot more positive and with TC signing a new deal, I think it could balance in our favour.

Fully expecting 7-8 changes on Wednesday , probably an entirely different front 4 with Apter, Knibbs,Alli and Mbick in. Ouma for Chalobah , Mesik for Bell and maybe Collins for Big Billy?

    Collins for Danny Mac maybe?
I’d keep LJ, Billy and Arthur so they can build more understanding / partnership.

I’d say Mesik for Bell and maybe Ouma / Mwamba for Chalobah for sure. Knibbs for Carey probably wouldn’t weaken us that much……. Maybe Miles gets a break for Mbick but can’t see much more than that.

Maybe Alli for Grant? That’s the main risks out the firing line and we can always bring them on around 60 mins

I suspect Palace will force JRS’s hand here .  I never expected it to happen but will be delighted to be wrong
