    I think great at what he does is wide of the mark.  I agree he’s a lovely guy and has played a part in us becoming a likeable squad again but NJ has clearly made a decision that he’s not part of his plans and I support that.

    We needed a midfielder to go to make up the numbers and unfortunately Doc will be the consequence of that which would be the right decision. Will and deservedly would get a very good send off when he does go a lot of L1 clubs would love him.

    And yet despite his shortcomings had 2 decent shots last night, one properly testing the keeper, the other one in the last seconds of the game where he dropped a shoulder and left a defender in his wake, and got a stinging shot off that was well blocked. 

    He's not perfect, but he's never given less than 100% and I'll miss him, and I'm sure our squad will miss his presence around SL too

    The shot that tested the keeper was a rocket that deserved to go in. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be.

    Bound to go to Scotland. Not sure he'd even be registered if he did stay.

    I mentioned on the transfer rumours thread that it’s strange that there’s been essentially no speculation around which club he might go (other than it’s Scotland because he’s Scottish, and as of 10 hours ago it’s one of the only countries that can actually sign players). 

    The standard of the SPL is abysmal (I actually think it’s worse than most English fans assume) and Docherty would actually be a decent signing for the majority of teams in that league.

    I'm shocked there weren't teams in for him at L1 level. He's technically lacking but he's got two L1 promotions on his record, he's shown that he can step up into the Championship and be part of a team that survives there and he's a real leader. He also seems like the kind of player who would take a bit of a hit on wages to play regularly and be part of something. Amazed that someone like Wycombe or Luton didn't see a use for him

    I was convinced he'd go to a promotion chaser in League 1 , someone that could use his experience and leadership skills because he knows what it takes to get promoted out of there. Weird it was only a very tenuous link to Leicester that ever came up. 

    Scotland or MLS is an interesting one.... The Daily Record bit his agent planted last month to try and get a new deal out of us did mention he had interest stateside.

    Realistically, it would have needed to be done yesterday and I don't know why it wouldn't have been announced

    It's the right time for him to leave but it's a damn shame that we didn't get to say a proper goodbye, hopefully he'll come back to The Valley one day.

    Really good attitude - worked so hard, looked to lead from the front, brought experience.

    Glad he's left on seemingly decent terms and can hopefully get a good move somewhere.

    Doc was there when we needed him most in that dog-fight period last season. Always gave 110%... Wish him nothing but the best.

    A critical cog in our promotion. One of the standards setters that Nathan Jones needed to turn around the squad mentality.

    A special bloke. Had the exact qualities we needed from a captain. Never hid, always worked hard and led by example.  I thank him for getting us back where we should be, I doubt very much improvements would have happened so quickly without him in the team.

    Hope it got done yesterday for him, so he got his own send off today, and also so he can go off and find a club anywhere he wants now.
