Top guy, I think we'll miss him off the pitch. I'm sure he'll have something lined up.
Similar to Gillesphey, in that both are good L1 and "struggling Championship club" players, but not quite good enough if the club wants to progress.
Not The Valley, but away to Spurs isn't a bad game to go out on.4 -
Doc follows this guy on insta, he commented this on the Nathan Jones tribute post for Doc.3 -
If he’s got a deal lined up we probably would have paid the difference between that wage and what he’s on now so he’s still on the same money. If no deal lined up then we’d have probably negotiated something similar based on what he will probably earn elsewheregringo said:Would we have paid his contract up, or a percentage only?0 -
Thanks for everything Doc you have been an exceptional leader and leave the club in a much better place than when you arrived and I am sure you contributed greatly to that. Wishing you every success in the future.3

Nothing but the very wishes for Doc. A proper captain in how he conducted himself. A shame with how his time has ended as contract termination never sounds nice from an observers point of view.1
-
Still think he could have done a job this season especially in certain games but expect he wants to play regularly.. thanks Doc2

Very sad, I wish him all the best and hope he gets a decent move. Great servant for us.1

Tackling a Hull player, in our vital win, whilst only having one leg stands out to me.
Shame to see him go, great captain and hope he gets a good gig.13 -
Amazed that someone didn't sign him yesterday as shown himself to be a proper leader. Best of luck to a good guy.0
-
Gutted, even though understand why he’s left. Always difficult situation when a player that feels Charlton leaves.Proud that he was a captain for us. Brilliant guy on and off the pitch for our club.4

So what though? Pretty laughable to call Nathan Jones a terrible manager. He objectively isn’t.Radostanradical said:

If anyone wants the template of what a true pro looks like then Doc has to be that. Hope he gets the move he wants and is a success at wherever he ends up.9
-
A real shame.
Yes, as a professional football club on the up we will move on players no longer needed but on a human level it's a sad day when the skipper of a promotion/Wembley winning side moves on.
Wish him nothing but the best.
Passes the "if you saw him in the pub in a few years time, would you buy him a drink?" test with ease.34 -
We’ve been lucky to have had some good captains over the years. Doc is right up there with the best. Wish him well and a warm welcome if he ever sets foot inside The Valley.5
-
Good luck , wherever you go Doc0

Somewhat worrying we couldn’t shift him.Doc was an outstanding captain and was certainly the perfect man for the job when needed0

Asiimwe has not been kicked out. He has gone out on loan like many other players past and present. He has a path to returning to our first team squad, if he is good enough. It is up to him.golfaddick said:... and like with Asiimwe is then kicked out a week later.
With things going so well, you are getting rather desperate and careless in your attempts to find things to moan about.7 -
I just looked at that thread. Where are the hissy fits.Radostanradical said:

Just to add, I of course do not agree with this guys comments but thought it would be worth sharing.DoctorCharlton said:

When you saw his reaction at the end of the Hull match last season you could see just how much captaining Charlton made to him. Top man.7

I’m really emotional about this.
What a top sweaty Doc is, lovely man.
Go well fella, if you’re ever in West Cork the Guinness is on me 🍻7 -
Nothing but love for Doc. A proper pro and captain that played a major part in getting us to where we are now but unfortunately was never going to be what we needed to get to the next level. No shame in that. It is what it is and he leaves with huge credit from me. Saw him training solo before the Preston game and knew then it would be the last time we'd see him on the Valley turf as a Charlton player.4

Football really can be brutal at times, DOC gave nothing less than 100% for our club, not sure if it’s enough to describe but he is a complete professional that captained our side through thick and thin, really pleased he was around to contribute to a successful period in the clubs history. Thankyou for all you’re effort and all the best for the future.👍1

I wish him all the best, as I do with (nearly) all our departing players. He always tried his hardest.
If I met him in a bar, would I let him buy me a drink. Why not?1 -
Good luck Doc, class act.0
-
Nice words and I’m not sure how long left on hic contract but feels like we’ve done the right thing - by mutual consent / cancelling contract we have allowed him to pocket the fruits of signing for another club as a free agent - it’s better for him than sitting on our bench at best - thanks Doc, you did a great job and all the best for the future5

Very best of luck Doc, you have been a great servant for CAFC.0
