Could not be doing all that again so walked back to the closer station in Pudding Mill Lane and jumped on a DLR back to Stratford and then caught a fairly empty Elizabeth Line train from there. There were definitely some striking visuals of empty seats at some games. I assumed it was a case of season-ticket holders not bothering to turn up, which happens everywhere of course.lordromford said:

The "extended" highlights package. which is Sky-ed and featuring a useless commentary ( prattling on about background stuff while we stick the ball in the net) showed a number of Spammer chances but not the JRC chance to make it 3-1. I haven't seen that anywhere. I have two points:
1. That (IMO at the time) was a bad miss, and he needs to up his game if he is to stay around and be part of this squad
2. I wonder what it is in the Sky EFL contract that appears to dictate that clubs have to use Sky's highlights packages? Why? What is the commercial loss to Sky if the clubs use their own commentary and edit highlights to be of maximum interest to their own "target audience" ?

I don’t think the miss was as bad as you do. It reminded me of the goal he scored last season where Kelman fizzed it across goal and the keeper could only push it to JRC. Appreciate the support on my comment from everyone. Was genuinely caught between a rock and a hard place as I really wanted to deck the lad, but I don't want to be associated with violence and having to deal with fights at football, especially with Charlton fans*
I full well know he wouldn't dream of saying it to me on his own and that should be enough to get me over it, but unfortunately it's still wound me up.

I enjoy analysing a game with the emotions taken out and I'm sure this takes place most Mondays at Sparrows with the Analysts after a Saturday game.
Charlton definitely played too deep in the last 15 minutes or so and we had 9 players in the box when the handball occured. The chance of a deflection or a hand ball is increased. Also we were too deep on their goal and the bodies all in the way made it difficult for Arthur to see clearly.
I watched Hull city defend against Man Utd and they defended on the edge of their Penalty area and had the forwards and attacking midfielders just in front working their socks off forcing United to over pass.
Now obviously if Man Utd can get around the outside out wide that forces the defenders back but they hardly ever managed that. They were slow and predictable and Hull who conceded 66 goals in the Championship gave a defensive master class which was a surprise!
Great result for CAFC but we relied on the penalty miss for the win and I just wish we could defend on the edge of the area and not the six yard box as it just invites pressure (England/Argentina 🤦🏻♂️)
Fantastic 3 points but hard headed analysis is needed as another time we could snatch a draw from the Jaws of victory.

Well the commentary team ( the proper one) were less than impressed, and they clearly had playback facilities. The separate issue is that it was at least as good and important a chance as several West Ham efforts in the 9 min Sky package, yet we are not able to see it, and discuss it here. And I’d like to know why we have to put up with that sort of shit when we have the facilities to do our own edit and use our commentary. Doesnt the full match replay which eventually goes up, feature our lads?fenaddick said:

I’m an older bird like @KBslittlesis and only tend to dip in and out on vlogs etc. I also appreciate that we had a little exchange on here last season after Birmingham away @Braziliance. But I’ve finally spent half an hour watching your WHU vlog all the way through and really enjoyed it.
Thank you for the effort you put in and as others have said, please do find the strength to file it away / rise above / move on. I know from my own personal experience that it can be easier said than done to take that advice and I’ve been on the receiving end of ridiculously abusive and basically ludicrous stuff on occasion over the years. The vast majority do appreciate what you do and ignoring the eejits rather than taking their bait is usually the best approach. To quote Lloyd Jones, UTFA!18 -

King Arthur may well turn out to be the player to take us to the next level. Our defence was already good, but he brings a calmness, can pull off worldies when required, and is such a huge presence, which I think contributed to the penalty miss.
