It’s a free hit, I’m expecting nothing, just going to enjoy the atmosphere and hope we show some pride5

Coming back from holiday for a day for this one, going Corporate. Hope we put on a show. Would be great to beat them but frankly just not getting spanked would do me.1

This is a joke right ?NabySarr said:
We need to get minutes into our squad players. We will need them when we have 4 championship games in 2 weeks coming up. I honestly don’t care about the result, save the big guns for PrestonDamoNorthStand said:Be interesting to see what kind of side we put out. Don’t want to see 11 changes or anything dramatic such as playing the kids. But think there will be a few looking for minutes plus some to protect:
Mesik for BellMwamba for Chalobah
Knibbs in (suspect Leaburn may be rested and Grant moves up top)
Maybe Alli in as well.
Something like:
Okonkwo
McNamara
Jones
Big Bill
Mesik
Coventry
Mwamba / JRC
Alli
Knibbs
TC
Grant
Leaburn, Carey are options off the bench. Ouma can get another 45 mins under his belt here as well
Donr want or break up the Jones / Koumetio partnership just as they are building up a great understanding and good luck getting Lloyd out the team anyway.
Mannion (think he probably deserves to play and Jones always plays his backup in the cups)
Sichenje
Jones
Koumetio
Mesik
Costello
Coventry
Mwamba
Alli
Mbick
Knibbs
Would even maybe put Burke in for one of the centre backs and then just let Jones and Koumetio do 45 minutes each. If Ouma is fit enough I’d start him too0 -
Apologies for any duplication, but haven't the time to read through the thread and a quick search didn't bring anything useful up.
Don't have access to the Sky coverage on Wednesday. Can anyone confirm any pubs showing the match? I'm in Tunbridge Wells, but willing to travel further into town, or actually into town. Thanks.0 -
I would sit grant ( a lot of distance run this weekend) Carey (let’s see what Knibbs can do) and chalobah (obvious). Otherwise would keep the remaining starters0
-
Ideal run out for Ouma, be good to see Knibbs, sichenje, apter, mesik start and some minutes for Edwards (if fit), docherty, mwamba, mbick, alli0
-
Probably need to rest a few more with the short turnaround to Preston. Bell (can't risk him 3 times in a week), McNamara (looked tired towards the end) and Koumetio (lot of injury problems in his career so far) as well. Go with something like:Bostonaddick said:I would sit grant ( a lot of distance run this weekend) Carey (let’s see what Knibbs can do) and chalobah (obvious). Okonkwo
Sichenje

Would swap Bell for Mesik. Another who needs to be protectedBostonaddick said:I would sit grant ( a lot of distance run this weekend) Carey (let’s see what Knibbs can do) and chalobah (obvious). Otherwise would keep the remaining starters4 -
We do not need to rest anyone. The players will want to play.Take every game seriously.8
-
They will all want to play, but physically with quite a few we know that’s not possible.valleynick66 said:We do not need to rest anyone. The players will want to play.Take every game seriously.
Preston is a bigger game13 -

I'm expecting almost a full rotation
Brooks

Burke
Jones
Mesík
Coventry
Ouma/Docherty
Knibbs
Apter
Alli
Grant/Mbick

Do we reckon Spurs will rotate the entire eleven as well? Didn’t see their line up / bench yesterday. Presume it will be their U21s so perhaps we can get away with a bigger rotation than I suggested (can’t see Brooks in goal though - no chance)0
-
I predict Ouma will start.2
-
Get 60 mins out of Ouma after he had 45 for the U21s you would hope. Good chance to see how he does without the risk of it being a league game…… but at a high enough standard that we can act on it if he does well0
-
Got to keep King Arthur in2
-
Especially with an injured Mannion. If it wasn’t Spurs we could risk Brooks but it could be so demoralising for him to make his debut thereWeegie Addick said:Got to keep King Arthur in0 -
After our respective results yesterday I think it’d be silly for them to play their U21s. If they do that then we will win imo.DamoNorthStand said:Do we reckon Spurs will rotate the entire eleven as well? Didn’t see their line up / bench yesterday. Resting already…the season has only just begun and I’m sure they need minutes in their legs to get match fit.1
-
Can imagine TC will be desperate to play as he’s a big Arsenal fan1
-
I’m sure he will but he was overplayed last season and we have a big squad. I’d rather he was rested and fresh to put in a good performance on Saturday to show Preston what they’re missingWeegie Addick said:Can imagine TC will be desperate to play as he’s a big Arsenal fan0 -

Last two seasons until this summer he didn’t get a rest because of international duties. Looks fit, well rested and raring to go imo. No need to break his rhythm.fenaddick said:

For me it’s more about protecting the more injury prone older players eg Bell and Chalobah and then bringing on subs pretty early for others, which we have already been doing. It’s about utilising the full matchday squad as much as the full total squad.1 -
Yeah I think if they had won yesterday (or at least not been thrashed) then De Zerbi would have had flexibility to rest their first team. Now I think they’ll pick a pretty strong side.Leeds_Addick said:

That’s an international break where he’ll get no rest though. We can’t complain he was overplayed and then also expect him to play every minute. Give him a rest for the first 60 mins on Wednesday. We also have to give minutes to players like Alli otherwise they won’t be match fit enough to help off the benchWeegie Addick said:

Never mind them, after yesterday I’m knackered already but I’ll make sure I’m OK by Wednesday to go again.Solidgone said:Resting already…the season has only just begun and I’m sure they need minutes in their legs to get match fit.1 -
We put out a decent strength team for the first round. No need to do differently this time.1

My Lincoln City supporting mate wanted to go, didn't you @Boom?newyorkaddick said:Realistically how many people who either aren't CAFC fans at all or are relatively uncommitted will be that fussed about going to a midweek Carabao Cup 2R game in such a grim inaccessible part of London? Appreciate visiting the stadium holds some appeal but there are not exactly a lack of alternative opportunities to do so.
(But then he is half Charlton anyway, and has probably been to more of our games than theirs in the past 20 years!)1 -
Resting our key players who have not played in stadiums like this before would see them seriously pissed off imo. I see something like
Okonkwo
Mcnammara/Collins
Jones
Burke
Mesik
Coventry
Ouma
Knibbs
Grant (although possibly Alli comes in)
Campbell
Leaburn

If anything Spurs need to play their main players, to get them match fit. Their pre season tour down under was good for finances, but not good for actually getting their players ready for the season.se9addick said:

As for our team, I imagine all the players will want to play this one. But one or two will need to be rested, like Bell and Chalobah, plus there are others like Sichenje, Mesik, Knibbs, Alli, JRS and Apter who will benefit from decent minutes - Sichenje looked quite rusty yesterday. And it seems like an ideal game for Ouma to make his debut. We can still put out a "proper" team, even after making changes, whereas the Cambridge lineup last season had several kids, and a bench of kids.
The no 9 spot will be interesting, as we don't want to overplay Miles, but he'll want to play this game. I wonder if Kanu might feature - just because he's on his way out, it doesn't mean he can't still play for us.1 -

I get we absolutely do need to protect Bell and Chalobah but saying we should be giving minutes to Apter, Kanu et al is too far.killerandflash said:
