Can’t believe I’m typing this, but are they? They want to get the highest fee possible, so they’re going to try to do that by waiting it out.
Then you don't "agree" the deal.

I don't believe that anyway, I don't believe that Jones and the club are willing to wait until the end of deadline day when there's a risk that the man we want can end up signing somewhere else, with no time to sign someone else.
Agree, I don’t think we are going to get mugged off anymore, under previous owners/ managers that would have happened. NJ is a stubborn fucker and would likely pull the plug if he feels things are going tits up.

    Yea this is true.

I can’t see jones agreeing to wait on this deal that might end up with us having nothing. It makes no sense whatsoever

From a source at Palace, I am told that both Charlton and Palace have agreed a deal for JRS and that JRS has also agreed terms with us.

Apparently, everything is ready to go, but Palace are holding off in the hope that a bigger bid comes in. If no bid comes in by the end of transfer deadline day, he will be joining us.
Like to think we wouldn't wait until deadline day. Hope we tell that tosspot Parish to fuck off and sign off the deal else we'll go elsewhere and they'll potentially end up with nothing.

My predictions are 1) Doc gets released on a free to a Scottish club 2) Kaminsky ends up in the Netherlands or Belgium for an undisclosed fee at the end of the window (probably for 1 million or a little less) 3) Asiimwe is loaned out to league two side. 4) Kanu is sold on the last day of the window for much lower than the 1 million asking price 5) Apter is loaned back to Blackpool with us covering a majority of his wages. 6) Kelman is left out of the 25 man roster until the January window due to injury.  Burke is left out of the 25 man roster with no takers
So we're deliberately leaving 2 players out for no reason? No chance

I’d suggest taking a look back at us apparently messing Plymouth around and people saying we are within our right to ask for more money.

Plot twist, we're actually signing Samuel Rak-Sakyi. Sorry to burst more bubbles than we did on Saturday at West Ham.

Just think they could have done this at any time and would have happened by now if that was the be all and end all of it

Surely that means a deals not been agreed then
There's a difference between verbal agreement and signing on the dottted line.

I think we can afford to wait it out. We have Apter so it’s not like we will be left with nothing. We will just keep hold of Apter until we bring in Rak-Sakyi or maybe a plan B on deadline day

Don’t make sense if a deal agreed and they got a gentleman agreement that’s it .. all terms agreed ..

Difference was no deal had been agreed until Plymouth upped their offer .. unlike this where the clubs have agreed a deal and the player agreed a deal nothing more to do .. there no way Charlton would agree to waiting .. don’t believe it ..don’t make any sense at all

I really hope this isn’t the case and we have the deal wrapped up in the next couple of days we can’t risk being left short when we’re so close to getting it right.

That has been reported before, we can but hope that JRS pushes it along.
It sounds promising that two different sources are saying the same thing as I wasn't sure how reliable mine was when I was told this yesterday.

I would hope not, but I'm told it's what Palace are looking to do, which is understandable. Hopefully we can apply some pressure and get this done before transfer day as, while they aren't happy with the price we have offered, they would rather sell him for whatever we have offered than risk losing him on a free transfer.

There's also the hope that, even if somebody else does come in with a bigger offer, JRS will turn down the contract in order to join Charlton/not relocate.

What if JRS is Burnley’s back up if they can’t land their first target.

An average 3 bed semi in Plymouth is currently around £300-350,000

Carey is still young and will get better, I find it a bit ingenuous that people are focusing on the part of his season that dropped off, over the absolutely blinding part of the season he had, this indicates he has the quality and deserves a bit of support and trust. He is still the best we have in his position at the moment and IMO should start until someone challenges and does better than him. Not sure who people think is available that is better than him. Also can’t believe after 3 wins people are considering changing the team for our league games.
All people are saying is that he could be better if occasionally when he is carrying the ball upfield he looked up and tried to lay off a pass to a teammate before he gets blocked off. He has some good attributes but there is  room for improvement.

It may sound overcritical given his good performances in the past 3 games, but I don’t think it is unfair to also say that Campbell still needs to improve on his crosses not that he had many opportunities against West Ham.

Carey has a lot to improve on no doubt, but people calling for Knibbs to replace him is absolutely barmy, Knibbs if he did get a chance has a damn site more to prove than Carey, which is why Carey should be keeping his place. If Carey did all things people suggest he improves on, he wouldn’t be wearing a Charlton shirt for long. This isn’t football manager where you just try things out and hope it works, over all Knibbs has be a bit of a let down for us, I was expecting more of him, he hasn’t really produced enough yet.
Oh, I agree with you regarding Knibbs. But I wouldn’t didmiss the idea of Grant eventually playing in his position.
No agree, but that’s a completely new discussion, how effective would Grant be at it?
He is already doing half the job, coming off the wing deep to gather the ball, turning and driving forward or laying off. We know he can press. The putting players in, is an unknown, but the benefit of signing experienced players is that they can play multiple roles.

The only way that agreement would make sense is if we are absolutely getting a pucker deal should they not do anything else. We wait, if no other sale, we pay this no going back on the agreement.🤷🏻‍♂️

Hull City have reportedly had a £7m bid rejected for Stoke City winger, Sorba Thomas and Leicester have put a 7 million price on Mavididi…. Just shows how tough it is getting these sort of players ..

I'm not for a moment saying Carey is lazy btw, but Knibbs is actively known for his workrate in his career so far.

You can't just base it on what he's done for us when half fit and then injured
I'm not saying you're wrong but I do recall the Reading fans saying Knibbs didn't do much, but he had the knack of popping up and grabbing a goal.
Basically, what he's done for us.

Things are now at the stage where only a massive offer from elsewhere would STOP JRS becoming a Charlton Athletic player

I just can't see Rak-Sakyi going to Sheffield Wednesday in League 1.

JRS enjoys playing but it his his ball. If things don't go his way he takes it home and Palace can moan.

Leicester have their backs against the wall - they will have to accept well under that figure for him. They have no choice
