What I meant is, I don't think he'd barely get on the pitch if we signed Holsgrove...NabySarr said:
If we have Holsgrove, Chalobah, Ouma and Coventry then Costello would barely play. Mwamba came on before him on Saturday too and we won’t want to block his minutes. I think the only way we’d be able to sign Holsgrove is if we can shift Costello or Knibbs and Costello would definitely be the one we wanted to move on, it’s just finding a takerSteveACS said:

I wouldn’t mind seeing both Doc & Knibbs out the door if this is the case (in the nicest possible way) 👍🏻stjohnshill said:A certain Jordan Holsgrove arrived in London yesterday… No word yet on which club, but I’ll update when I know more.Certainly an interesting development, and one NJ has been desperate for all summer…
I think he'd never get on the pitch if we signed Holsgrove.
Not going to happen, though. NJ said so. And in NJ I absolutely trust...0 -
Hosgrove connecting flight to sheffield?0

The only thing about this is... wasn't he supposed to have had a medical late on the night AO signed?Callumcafc said:

It's 'JR-S'.
Jim ... if we do sign Rak-Sakyi, can I suggest any from "We're pleased/happy or We're very pleased/very happy" ... just for a bit of variety?0 -
Playing devils advocate a little bit here. We all know we currently have the nubers we need across the pitch (except arguably RW) Is it possible that we have enouhg "powder" for one player of quality who will take us up a level but arent dead set in which area of the pitch it comes. So possibly it could be that if JRS falls through we go back for Holsgrove. The only thing that changes is who we look to ship out. We can say if we dont get JRS then Apter as 4th choice winger is good enough and Holsgrove will take our midfield up another level so lets move on Doc and JRC.
Just random speculation tbh.0 -
You don't fly to England because a deal that's clearly going to go through might not go throughcantersaddick said:Playing devils advocate a little bit here. Cawley is only as good as the info he is given. Things may have changed since his last chat with his sources, or his sources may not be in the loop on this one.Yann897 said:Rich Cawley said yesterday a winger would be our last signing, hopefully he’s wrong and we get Holsgrove but he’s rarely wrong .
i still think the info that he is reporting is correct and holsgrove is here to sign for someone else6 -
I think we’re at the point where it’s pretty much a formality that JRS signs.
Which is incredible. There can’t be many teams who will have as much one v one threat as we do with TC and JRS on either wing.3 -

As someone said, QPR would be a good fit for Holsgrove. They don't have anyone of Conor Coventry's quality in midfield. Ireland's manager will surely rectify the Harvey Vale mistake at the next opportunity2

Pretty sure Holsgrove arriving in London is a red herring. If he is flying in from Portugal then London would make sense as it is pretty easy to get to anywhere else in the country.
Just can’t see him and JRS signing.
Just to add, I have zero opinion on Holsgrove as a player as before he was mentioned on here I had never heard of him and have certainly never seen him play.9 -

I honestly thought Yassin Moutaouakil was going to be a £4-5million pound player going into bigger and better things after his first couple of games. Then he got terminated away at Stoke City and was never the same player again.Garrymanilow said:
You're still a mile off. Just in the not so distant past we've had Yassin Moutaouakil, Lee Cook, Dean Sinclair, Izale McLeod, that version of Andy Gray, Matt Spring, Tresor Kandol, Keith Gillespie, Graeme Murty, Martin Cranie, Tom Soares, Salim Kerkar, Danny Seaborne, Eggert Jonsson, Abdul Razak, Simon Church, Loic Nego, Polish Pete, Reza, Yohann Thuram, Marcus Tudgay, Davide Petrucci, Franck Moussa, Oguchi Onyewu, Christophe Lepoint, George Tucudean, El-Hadji Ba, Christian Ceballos, Bergdich, Vaz Te, McAleny, Makienok, Rhys Williams, Yaya Sanogo, Hemed, Ledley, David Davis, Matt Smith, all at Championship level. And that's not even all the absolute creatures we've had to suffer at this level. JRC hasn't had a lot of opportunities and it doesn't look like he fits in that well with Jones' style but that performance against Coventry alone puts him ahead of the majority of these immediately. There's more to come from JRC, whether or not Jones can fully extract it I don't know, but my God. One of the worst? When Salim Kerkar exists? Behave.wolfgang said:
My first match at the Valley was August 31, 1957: Charlton Athletic 2–0 Grimsby Town. Leary scored both goals, one direct from a corner. I had watched them two or three times previously at Stamford Bridge with my Chelsea-supporting father and brother. I was the red sheep of the family.TellyTubby said:
FFS, Is this your first season watching Charlton?wolfgang said:
Chalobah is notoriously injury prone. if he were not, he would not be with us because he is real class.ns9 said:
Given our recent history of dreadful injury records and paper thin squads I think depth is always a big part of the puzzle, however in the position you reference we currently have Coventry, Chalobah, Ouma, Mwamba, Docherty and (if need be) JRC and even Carey who NJ I think ideally wants to play deeper. I’m not sure there’s space for much more realistically, even if one goes outwolfgang said:I will be pleased and relieved if JRS signs, as I think he will strengthen our first XI, and we are unlikely to sign anyone else as good at this late stage of the window. However, in an ideal world, I would rather we had signed, for a similar amount of money, Jordan Holsgrove, or someone of that ilk, as we will still be left with a paper-thin midfield that will look vulnerable if Chalobah is injured. And that was obviously NJ's strategy for the window, too.
On another matter, why has no report been posted of our u18's 3-1 win over Huddersfield on Saturday?
Ouma is a punt. He be wonderful or may be crap. We will not know until which months after the window closes.
Mwamba we have great hopes for, but has looked lost in his two cameos so far, so may take some months to be worth a place in the team.
Docherty, JRC and Carey are all crap and should be nowhere a Championship side. JRC is onw of the worst players I have ever seen in a Charlton shirt. He finds it hard to break into a slow trot. Maybe our best passer, but that is not enough.
Coventry has played really well this season. So much better without Docherty confusing him. But that is only three games. After three seasons of League One standard play, where he looked solid but unenterprising, I have yet to be convinced he will maintain his new level.
We need a rugged box-to-box MF in there who can defend when called on. Someone like George Dobson. I know we cannot sign him, because a section of posters throw temper tantrums at the thought of re-signing former players, but someone of that type. Sam Morsy would have been ideal. He left on a free.
When I wrote "one of the worst", I meant for the level we were playing at. We may have had worse in the lower divisions. Hard to compare. Charlie Kirk was worse, but I only said "one of the worst", not "the worst".7 -
Both need to return to The Valley ASAP !

Did a little scour on instagram! Jordan Holsgrove has since I last checked 3 weeks ago continued to exclusively follow models (good on him ) however a reading player followed him recently aswell as someone a bit further backwho looks like charlton lifes very own Cabbie8

Greg Docherty other than following AO hasnt followed anybody interesting so not indication of a move Instagram wise.9 -
QPR did bring in Glen Kamara on loan in that holding role but seem to be starting Ronnie Edwards there first couple of games.Leuth said:As someone said, QPR would be a good fit for Holsgrove. A winger will be our last business…..Holsgrove is next, then JRS later this afternoon to be our last bit of business.

In the last couple of weeks, it’s Swansea fans who have been mostly mentioning Holsgrove’s name.Separately, Swansea are the latest club to sign up for Jamestown Analytics, Tony Bloom’s sports data firm.8

Interesting because Cawley said only yesterday when asked about Holsgrove still potentially being one we’re looking at due to him not yet signing for anyone else:stjohnshill said:A certain Jordan Holsgrove arrived in London yesterday… No word yet on which club, but I’ll update when I know more.Certainly an interesting development, and one NJ has been desperate for all summer…
“No. Last signing of window set to be a winger.”He seemed very certain.Battle of the ITK’s. Stjohnshill v Cawley.
