Kelman has been doing the fitness work and had already had half a pre season. Would expect him back on the bench sooner rather than later.4 -

Carey could have slipped him in on Saturday. Just have to remember moments like that when we talk about wanting our strikers to score goals. I don't think he had another chance other than the one he made for himself taking the defender on the outside.Sword65pf said:

They're not that well laid though are they? Burke is a player you can stick on the bench if he's available but know he probably won't be. If you start him you absolutely have to have a player ready to come on for him if the likely thing happens and he pulls up. At RB we have two very good options, one of whom is fairly injury-prone. At RCB we have Burke, Jones who has played through injuries for the past three seasons, and Sichenje who unfortunately might be going in the injury-prone pile. At LCB we have Koumetio who has been held back in his career by injuries and maybe Mesik, though that's uncertain in a 2. At LB we have Mesik, who can't play two positions at once so can only solve one injury position at a time, Bell who missed large chunks of last season with injuries and Edwards who missed almost all of last season injured and still isn't ready now. We have a lot of defenders but the balance isn't quite right and with the hopeful exception of McNamara and Mesik they're all ones who have struggled with some fairly hefty injuries in their time with us. The Koumetio situation is fairly similar to the LWB one last season, we only really had Edwards there and we suffered so badly when he got injured, I don't think we properly prepped for a bad injury to Koumetio despite his injury history.StrikerFirmani said:

Nathan Jones believes Charlton are on the same “trajectory” as his former Luton team – after they remained unbeaten thanks to a 1-1 draw at West Brom.
Tyreece Campbell cancelled out Callum Styles’ opener, as the Addicks maintained their blistering start to the season at The Hawthorns.
And Jones believes there are big similarities between his current charges and the side he had in a previous spell at Luton, who went on to reach the Premier League.
He said: “We are on that trajectory with what we did at Luton during my two spells there.
“We built a team to go through the leagues, I went and then came back and built a team that was on the brink of promotion and got promoted.
“We are on that trajectory, after four games we are in a good place, and let’s not mess about, we are favourites to go down.
“Not one of the favourites, we are the favourites and people are saying they can’t sustain it, but that is fine.
“We gave the ball away too much at times in the first half and were not brave enough.
“After they scored and we made subs, we were much better and got back into it. It’s optimistic to say we should have gone on to win it, but we did finish strongly and it is a great point.”

I think if anyone was to disagree with any of that interview would be saying so purely for dislike of him. Thought he spoke really well and explained things in a lucid manor. I have to say in the past my view has been’ well I’d like to play two games of football a week and be paid for it’ just get on with it, but it is very clear on a physical level and a human level what these players are dealing with and it isn’t a surprise we are seeing so many injuries.
