If a player fails a medical, a club may not be able to get insurance, or have to pay a prohibitive premium. This is why players like Solly don't move.bobmunro said:golfaddick said:
I reckon he'll sign for Burnley tomorrow.ElfsborgAddick said:If Rak Sakyi has not moved to another club by tomorrow I'll consider that we are still in the game and will eventually sign him.
If the medical issue is true then I can't see him signing for anyone.
If you're drowning in parachute payment money, you might say "Stuff it!", and pay any medical bills out of petty cash...2 -
4 year extension for Kayne!11

Particularly if there is no other interest. It's a hard life being a professional footballer.

Think the club knew they had to get that good news out fast. Fair play14
-
don’t shoot the messenger because I Have no way to verify if this story was posted today or not as I’m not following him. But This apparently came up on Thomas Kaminski’s agent story15 -
I guess it depends - it might be that it’s not too bad, but an issue we weren’t willing to pay £4m plus x amount per week to take on.bobmunro said:golfaddick said:

Makes you wonder if we may go back with a revised offer now us and Palace are presumably aware of an issue? I have no idea0 -
In this day and age of sports science within football, I always wonder how it’s left until a medical to find out any issues, surely a club continuously monitor they’re assets( the player), is it a case of hoping they get through another clubs particular medical? Thing is we all know he will end up somewhere perceived to be a bigger club than us like he has no medical issues at all. Is it just down to the risk a particular club is willing to take? Or Jes about to retire from football?😂 think there are things we will never know.0

And in lighter news, Kayne Ramsay signs a 4 year contract...0

That is why you hold onto good news!16

Do wonder if this was rushed out as they had expected to announce JRS today and need something to keep the fans onside?
Even so, it’s a great bit of news. Glad it’s another four year deal done.14 -
Great news re Ramsay. Hopefully a speedy recovery as well3
-
To everyone who has been asking why you wouldn't immediately announce the re-signing and instead might keep it in the back pocket - this is why! We needed some good news in the worst possible way today

I mean seriously what was Rodwell doing yesterday on Talksport with this going on in the backgroundSword65pf said:

Thanks.
Please consider not telling people what they can and cannot post.
Thanks5 -
Fair play to the club for securing Jones, Ramsay and TC. For all the talk this summer about the owners and backing, they must be paying them decent championship wages39

Exactly my thinking. The other day people were questioning why we wouldn’t immediately announce contact extensions and this is whyCallumcafc said:Do wonder if this was rushed out as they had expected to announce JRS today and need something to keep the fans onside?

Are you saying you purposely held back positive news until after a potential big loss in a cup game and while the JRS deal was looking like it would fall through?

17 -
The fact that NJ broke into Ramsay's house at 2 am this morning and pinned him to the wall by his throat until he signed the deal, and then the club did the photo shoot for the socials with him still in his pyjamas is totally coincidentalCallumcafc said:Do wonder if this was rushed out as they had expected to announce JRS today and need something to keep the fans onside?

Congrats to McNamara's backup on signing a new deal, crisis averted21
-
Another one of JRS’s mates signed up long term.

Excellent news. Was unsure we would get Jones, TC and Ramsay to sign and all three have which is fantastic.8

Really? Less than a week since we beat Wet Spam at their place? That wasn't good news?MrBurns said:Finally some good newsYesterday/today hasn’t exactly been great for the club, has it? Losing three players to injury and JRS not signing (through no fault of the club) hasn’t exactly given fans much to shout about. So yes, I’d say Ramsay signing on is finally some good news after today. Doesn’t mean I’ve forgotten about the West Ham win

Happy with my favourite player extending his contract - Kayne Ramsay.2
-
I am starting to think that, a la the Millwall model, we are gonna have to shift someone on for c£10m or so in order to take that next step.
Develop, sell, invest.
Ramsay and TC probably represent our best chance of that at the moment. Maybe Mwamba and Mbick in the future.22 -
Unless Ramsey is our new signing at RW 😂

Things to be positive about - mesik looked good and can hopefully step in for kometio - Ramsay I rate very highly and he’s much better than macnamara who is decent but limited - if jrs has fallen through we may still get him for nothing in the summer or reduced in the Jan window or we may sign an alternative - if koumetio just a hamstring then shouldn’t be more than 6 weeks and we can hopefully cover that and push on with the RW position which I think is key7
