He's not lived up to that yet, but this is a risk free way for Charlton to see if he can develop into a rounded championship player without the risk of spending money for it not to work out.

When you consider how strong the talent pipeline is in south London and how strong our academy is, you would think it should be a sure thing if someone is deemed good enough to come from abroad and join it. We are not exactly short of home grown talent0 -
Wasn’t Kelly Youga a youth signing under curbs but didn’t get a decent run for a couple of seasons. Djiksteel is another that turned out in the end.4

If this problem is likely to come up again (& it may have already done so when he failed to move last summer & bizarrely ended up going to Turkey) then Palace need to decide whether a small fee this summer is better than no fee at all next summer.
They are v.unlikely to find any club happy to pay £4m for him if he comes with a medical issue & consequently big insurance challenges.0 -

It would appear that there were issues arising from the medical rather than failing a medical. This probably resulted in the purchase price no longer being attractive to us and was deemed too high a risk. This comes from people more itk than most.soverncomfort said:

The only thing that concerns me is the physicality of the championship and adapting to the pace of the game here.
I believe he can adapt though especially with the levels of training here.
Watching him week in and week out, it was clear at 16/17 he was wave lengths ahead of anything else in the league.5 -
