    He looks more comfortable in this formation because he's not receiving the ball under pressure while facing his own goal – something he's not good at. He's got more time and space in the pivot, and he also has twice as many options out wide so there's always someone to pass to. Defensively he's always been excellent and now his main weaknesses aren't so much of a factor. 

    It is interesting that in his pre-match interview, it sounds like there are no talks ongoing, even while he's out of contract in the summer.

    Fair play to him, looks much better so far this season and is getting further up the pitch in his press and when we're attacking compared to last season. Long may it continue

    Just a thought, but if we let his contract run down, release him, and re-sign him on new terms, we'd probably lose that hefty sell-on clause that WH has in the contract. At a risk of course.

    Coady and Doc ahead of him last season and early signs he can kick on this season is starting to feel like this could be similar to what happened with Kanu and TC in NJs first half season. If he keeps his place I’m sure we’ll be offering him a new deal, no guarantees with Mwamba and soon Ouma pushing for more minutes.

    He did start last season very strongly as well. Let's hope he can keep it up this time.

    That's some 4d chess. But if the club thought he had much resale value, surely they wouldn't let him run his contract down because he'd be snapped up somewhere else.

    And with Chalobah needing canny management and potential fitness issues I think Coventry will be playing a fair amount this season.

    It would be criminal if we don’t get him signed on a new deal. Was great news Kayne signed, but if he has surely CC deserves one. Also, if he leaves at the end of the season, and we don’t sign Ouma on a perm, and Doc leaves, we will have a whole midfield rebuild

    I have always liked this kid and felt he needed better around him , like Leaburn for example, to really see the best of what he offers.

    Personally think, while he’s undoubtedly playing very well at the moment, he’s always been much better than he’s given credit for but because we are winning and other players are doing their jobs better, Coventry is no longer being scrutinized for not doing things that were never his role and, instead, people are noticing the good parts of his game more.

    I totally agree he needs a new deal too.

    I’d hold out on giving him a new deal just yet but if he continues this form no reason why we shouldn’t. Looks so much better when he’s playing next to someone who can play with the ball

    I’ll admit I wasn’t certain of Coventry prior to this season, but he’s been excellent so far

    The ball to Alli before his cross to Karlan for the goal was inch perfect. Exactly the kind of ball to feet that players like Alli thrive on.

    I think he's been working on his passing. His passing was never as good as it was yesterday in League 1 or last season. 

    If he carries on, well worth a contract.

    Having 1 rather than 0 passing options in front of him probably helps quite a bit

    If you asked me to remember an eyebrow-raising pass from Coventry prior to this season, I would have to go back to Derby away in 2024 when he set Kanu free. I'm sure the formation change has been a factor but he's definitely made some leaps in his range and vision.
