    And the most ironic thing is, they're almost always of an age where the roles they are talking about are never played by people wearing those shirt numbers these days - shirt numbers are in the 20s and 30s!

    Id tend to agree that to get to where we need to be we need better than Doc, however when you take in to consideration we have kept -

    Mwama (could be great and has looked good last couple games but still untested, personally dint have a problem with giving youth a chance)

    JRC (who hardly got a look in last season and most his appearance were as a sub)

    Ouma (again an unknown quantity that we seem to have to get fit before he can make the squad)

    Ollie Skipp (widely derided by leicester fans and was relegated last season)

    Was Doc worse than all these ?

    From his farewell message, I'd imagine it's too raw right now. It seems clear that leaving wasn't what he wanted.

    You’re well behind mate. Double pivot has been about for well over a decade at this point. It’s all about transitions, rest defence and inverted full backs these days.

    You’re well behind mate. Double pivot has been about for well over a decade at this point. It’s all about transitions, rest defence and inverted full backs these days.
    Double pivot has been around for 20 years at least.

    Spent the whole summer saying we needed to upgrade on Doc to progress. We have given the players we brought in to replace him a total of 165 league minutes before giving up on them and pining for the days of Doc. I would say Doc had maybe 2 good games in his first 10 league appearances in L1, we need to give players more time

    Agree with this, the amount of changes didn’t help any of the new players.

Perhaps its ruthless by NJ and in the sense of TK its not a bad decision but Doc going is actually affecting the squad negatively. I don't think a lot of our fans realise how close we came to imploding or how bad things were last season with tensions within the squad.

    Well he is better than Ouma, playdd more than JRC last season so clearly NJ thought he was better and has more experience that Mwamba ?

    Sounds like Doc would be the perfect fit for a side with limited ability but a load of squad tension and impending implosion. Maybe a group of under 12s from the local comprehensive.  ;)

    Could you expand  regarding tensions within the squad last season? I can recall there were comments on here regarding a fallout between NJ and Docherty but nothing more than that.

    Quite apart from which, nothing about the Stoke loss makes me think it would have gone much better with Docherty. Maybe he wouldn't have made the challenge Ouma did but we lost control of the midfield and I dont see Docherty being the one who rectifies that.

    I think all of them have a potential upside compared to Doc, potential being the key word. They also have the potential to be worse than Doc either due to lack of availability or quality. With Doc you knew what you were getting evrey game and always available.

    Was it worth trying to get 2 players with potential upside on Doc and keeping him as 4th chocie solid reliable backup? trouble is i dont think he would be that happy with that.

    Pretty embarrassing to have your mum posting like that on club socials. Sounds like his family are sore about the decision to let him go. Can they complain if he ends up at a League One side? Still without a club. 

    No idea if they've fallen out, but if they have, so what... Managers fall out with players all the time. Alex Ferguson used to bomb people out at the drop of a hat, and he was pretty successful as I remember.
