Since winning the Championship play-off final with Southampton back in 2024, Russell Martin has only won 3 of his last 28 league games across two years with three different clubs.

Anthony Gordon has 10 goals in 9 champions league games this season.

In his last 54 Premier league games, he has 9 goals.
Gordon has 10 goals or assists in his last 11 international matches. Think the phrase "streak player" was made for him.

Edit: Make that 11 in 11

He strikes me as one of those players that play better for  England than their clubs.
Like Darius Vassel, Danny Welbeck and Crouchie.

Sorry for quoting myself but I got the above fact from pie 'n Bovril ( a Scottish football forum) and someone then raised if there had ever been a Dumbarton player who had previously played against Real Madrid players and turns out there has in 1931 and perhaps the coincidence thread would be more apt because he was my best pal's grandad

Katie Taylor, world champion boxer won 11 caps for the ROI women’s team scoring 6 goals.
I think there’s Welsh woman player who was a boxer, or a boxer who was in the women’s team, one or the other.

AA, the amazing Lauren Price had 52 caps for the Welsh women's football team, was a world champion kick boxer and won the middleweight boxing Gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
You would think both Katie Taylor and Lauren Price would play football as Strikers !

A Charlton player scored the first ever goal in a European knock out cup game , whilst playing along side one of his Charlton colleagues.

I know how can that be true, but true it is.

    Well i'm confused.

The first-ever European knockout club football match was played on 4 September 1955 between Sporting Lisbon and FK Partizan.

    Result: 3–3

First Goal: João Martins (Sporting CP, 14th minute)

It seems there isn’t any more detail on this then.
So should we just assume it’s bollocks?

    Not fact checked…

  • Hector Bellerin created the same amount of big chances (4) in one game for Arsenal v Stoke in the 15/16 season as Florian Wirtz has created in 39 games for Liverpool.

This will be the 1955 game in Switzerland where a London XI beat a Basel XI by 5-0.

The first goal was scored by Eddie Firmani who lined up alongside Billy Kiernan.  Three of the goals were scored by Arsenal's Cliff Holton, who went on to play for us in the 1960s.

    And, no.  I wasn't there.
