    Chalobah is a big miss.
I would not call him that to his face

I sit close to Jim Rodwell right by the press box and as he walked back into the lounge he looked exasperated and had a furrowed brow,
Maybe he was about to try to buy a half time pint on the upper west concourse.

Can those who are criticising the Cov Skipp midfield partnership explain why please?

I genuinely don’t get it. For me they’ve been our brightest area
Coventry had a good game but 35 year old Marlon Pack showed us what type of player we need next to him. He ran the game and easily MOTM. Chalobah a huge miss.
All Marlon pack did was chase the ref around trying to tell him how to referee🤷🏻‍♂️
Not for me or others watching the game

I think we need to try and make it through to the long international break. Hopefully three more points next week then use that time to get the nearly-fits fully fit, integrate the likes of Bindon and Skipp a bit more, refine and practice on the training ground and with luck we come out of it a bit more honed, with a sharper edge up front and a bit more depth to the bench.

What £39.50 a ticket gets you. 18,836 for a Saturday game against Pompey, with a full away, is terrible, especially considering the start we have made.
That's a whole lot for a ticket. I used to go for £20-25 for a ticket and thought that was a lot. I guess I am old now. But yeah, I imagine that prices out a lot of people.
The thing is, it isn’t just the ticket, it’s the travel, food and drink, programme, taking kids and the extra costs involved. It used to be a very reasonably priced thing to do that takes a good part of a day to do with family, that’s not the case anymore which is a shame, we need to make it accessible now for the sake of having support in the future.
Couldn't have gone today. But absolutely would have attended on Wednesday if prices weren't ridiculous. Won't be paying that on principle when I can watch for free online.

Love that Leaburn has a bit of venom about him now, scrapping with players, throwing his weight around. Proper player this season.
He’s better at it now but he was just getting there with this stuff last season and then we signed Dykes. The difference this season is is the only player up top being this physical

Getting rid of Dykes is the best thing we’ve done for Leaburn.

Really enjoyed the game. It might have been poor if you watched on TV, but thought it was a good game to watch live.

Definitely the better team in both halves. Alli miss was bad. Almost as bad as the referee missing the penalty on leaburn.

Watched on a stream on holiday. Plenty of decent performances including Skipp, TC, Grant and Mesik.

Leaburn and Coventry standout for me though! Anyone that doubted Coventry needs to give their head a wobble, his engine is just ridiculous and he is now trying to pass through the lines which is something he has been criticised for previously (was this something he was being held back on tactically)?! Leaburn was absolutely quality leading the line once more, he just has to stay fit and I’m confident the goals will come.

A clean sheet after last Saturday was huge to be honest! Take that all day long, even if it means we drew the game!

If Bournemouth can get promotion from Championship and survive in Premier League with a capacity of 12,357, why should we worry if we cannot get 20,000+ every home game

We look unfit. Players blowing at their arse from 60 mins onwards. The game is screaming for subs and we make one.

2 wide men who can't cross. Alli was so poor after his miss.

We made some great defensive additions in the summer but our inability to improve our attacking options means we are unable to break shit teams down. Horrific to watch.
Might be due to the fact Pompey had a week off and were fresh?!

I needed to remind myself of the goals Kaminski conceded in that game... Yeah I'm fine with that comment.

  • We were the better side throughout, Portsmouth had a few little spells but can see why they are struggling and fully expect them to be in a relegation battle.

Mesik, Okonkwo, Leaburn, Coventry and Skipp all put in excellent performances. We should have been at least one up at half time and really should have been able to capitalise.

The balance between the front 4 was better today, Alli was nervous throughout and the Pompey crowd definitely got to him

Getting really fed up with watching teams target Leaburn, week after week.  They can't cope with him and just resort to constant fouls everytime he gets the ball yet he gets absolutely zero protection from the referees.
Stoke was the absolute nadir of that, especially when Madley then booked Leaburn first.  It's a disgrace really.
Leaburn was superb today, hopefully he can get himself into a goal scoring groove, if he could get 12-15 this season we would have a very very valuable player on our hands.
Campbell was excellent too, swung a great ball for Alli to score (but he didn't), and put lots of other decent balls in. He isn't perfect but if he was he wouldn't have with us.
Thought Skipp and Coventry looked excellent together.  We badly miss a good number 10, Grant, JRC, Knibbs, Carey; none are good enough sadly.  Hopefully we find a way to fix that in January.
We have had an excellent start to the season.
It shows they are shit refs. The league gave us a decent ref against West Ham as it was West Ham. He could see Leaburn didn't foul Taty for the second. Today's ref would no way have done that as he has a preconceived idea that because Leaburn is big he fouls and can't be fouled. Too many refs at this level ref in this prejudiced way. It isn't bias against us, it is a bias against big, tall players but what can you do? These people shouldn't be reffing but if they didn't they wouldn't have enough refs. The penalty was ridiculous as the defender didn't even try to hide the push. He put both hands out and pushed. It isn't for the ref to decide how hard he pushed. He can't possibly know that unless he had magic powers. The player pushed, clearly pushed and Leaburn went down. What can you do with these clowns? No way between them that the officials could have missed that. Wankers. I think there is no better word for these type of officials who don't ref what is in front of them.

That was a penalty on leaburn at end. Clear. But we should of took our chances before then.

We cant play skipp and Coventry together at home. No creativity and they dont move ball quick enough.

Love Leaburns displays but wish he would attack the near post especially when Tyreece is crossing.
    Charton v Portsmouth today yes?
Yeah 47% possession at home to Pompey
Well that's an improvement on midweek anyway

I think @Airman Brown has mentioned on occasion that ticket sales are comparatively speaking, not the biggest source of revenue in the grand scheme of things

30 quid max or even 25, you may even pick up a few folk who don’t know what to do with a Saturday afternoon

Plus it helps with the atmosphere
those picture are taken about 10 mins before kick off - the crowds have dipped since last year due to the reasons mentioned but lets not exaggerate - much better football today but its disappointing that TC is still our only 'go to' attacking threat - rak saki on the other flank today and 3 points would be in the bag - we had 3 centre forwards on the pitch at the end + TC and 2 defensive midfielders - no wonder we couldn't sustain pressure - we are crying out for another TC and have been for 4 transfer windows = guess they just cost more than we can pay

Well that told me. He is inconsistent then. Maybe West Ham try to beat what they consider fairly through their own talents rather than perform the dark arts on Leaburn.

I take it you didn’t see Skipps pass for the TC “offside” goal in the week then? Or Coventry opening up the space for a goal earlier in the season? I know you didn’t see any of the creative work they did today because you didn’t watch the match but still want to criticise them!

No chance Leaburn is getting anywhere near 12-15 goals. 7 games in = 0 goals. Not his fault really because he spends much of his time battling 2 defenders about 40 yards from goal. Even Kane would struggle to score in our team.

I'd be surprised if any of our strikers score more than between 6 & 8 this season. Double figures is a pipe dream.

I have been to 38 games so far this season and the three best referees I have seen have all been National League referees. It's almost as though the refs at Championship level know they won't make it to the Premier League and know they can get away with poor performances.

What struck me though was how consistent today's referee was in the first half, before turning inconsistent and making mistakes in the second. I think I would honestly have preferred it if he was terrible all game. At least we would have known what to expect throughout the match.

  • Not there today & neither did I watch it online so cant comment on the match itself.  But......

    3 games without a goal
2 goals in the last 5 games.
Only one team (Lincoln) have scored less than us, and they also played a game less too.

Nothing had really changed from last season with regard to our attacking intent. Nothing in midfield to create chances & Leaburn is not a "sniffer" or fox in the box so any half chances go a'beggjng.

As for NJ and his non use of the subs. Just baffling. Never want to hear him moan about fixture schedules or muscle injuries again.

All that from someone who didn’t bother to go or even watch the game online . 😂
    A special kind of "special".
