Dont go mate dont let the bullies see you off. I find your views are one of the honest and realistic here and to the point as you see it, I have read most of the posts here and you would think by some of them it was a goal fest of 5-5 draws, not the bore fest the last 2 games have been. There were a lot of frustrated fans around me yesterday.
I had it for years on the political threads and note some of the same are giving you stick. I wouldn't have it and they hated that i stood my ground against them.
This forum is about opinions and all are valid remember that.11 -

He's pushed him over, with two hands. Just like Ouma was supposed to have done against Stoke, except that Miles has his back to the defender so cannot see what the defender is doing.Croydon said:

Nevertheless I used a sharp tone there because his remark is exactly an example of what is bugging me. It implies that if I just fall into line and subscribe to Sky, I will get what I am asking for. But even if I bowed down and paid my dues to the Sky money machine I still would not get the coverage we all should expect, the old Charlton TV package which was tailored to our interests as committed Charlton fans.
Anyway I see ,thanks to @Dansk_Red post above, that Sky have now kindly permitted the Club to replace the 2 minute package they had up last night with a 10 minute one which shows the incident. And I'm looking at a clear penalty, whereas some dork in the EFL's Osterley "superstudio" in his dubbed -after-the-event commentary, doesn't think so. But does not then go on to ask why the ref didn't book Miles for simulation.
"Allo, allo, fucking useless, fucking useless".
So if it's not a foul, you're saying Miles took a dive. In which case it's a free kick to Pompey, and a yellow for Miles. Them's the rules, right?9 -
We all have our moments, I can only speak for myself when I say I genuinely don’t intend to upset people, but now and then it happens to get my point across. I’m pretty certain 99% of people on here are genuinely good people, however sometimes when the pile on starts it doesn’t seem that way, the irony of it all is we are all on hear for the same reason, a football team!!🤷🏻♂️ForeverAddickted said:Sword65pf said:

For what it’s worth golfie I wouldn’t want you to leave. We disagree on a lot of things but ai hope I do that in a polite and civil manner. You are totally entitled to your opinions of course but I am also entitled to disagree with themgolfaddick said:

So nobody is “picking” on you - they are responding to what are I think deliberately provocative, relentlessly nagative, narcissistic, and mostly incorrect posts, which seem to delight in any perceived mistakes and even dig out the team and manager when they have won and put in a good shift. If anyone has an agenda I think it’s you. You have deliberately and systematically cast yourself as a pantomime villain without any conspiracy from other posters. You post to provoke and it’s very clear you seem to enjoy mixing it and somehow enjoy others mostly negative responses, although how and why is beyond me. Trolls gotta troll I guess.golfaddick said:

No where in that post did I criticise either Coventry or Skipp. I merely pointed out that if you are going to play Chalobah then one of them has to drop out.
But you carry on with your agenda.
Perhaps we should all stop responding to you and you might stop.
Don’t feed the troll - Which you are the definition of by the way.
Maybe its because I've been supporting this club for 50 years that I can remember the 80's & 90's where you were entertained & saw goalmouth action on s weekly basis.
I've been mulling things over during the night & I'm seriously thinking about packing it in. I love coming on here and reading opposing views & its amazing how people at the some match can see things entirely differently. But the grief I get from a great number of posts (and its usually from the same posters) just arent worth it anymore. I may stick around for the Cardiff game but I will take the 3 week "International break" as my cue to leave.

Back to the match yesterday:
The real paradox is Leaburn has been excellent in the lone strikers role but he just doesn't score (so far)
I always felt he was capable of leading the line in the champ but with Carey not looking as Sharp as the first six months last season and TC still being a winger who will chip in with goals, Grant is doing ok in the 10 role.
I guess it could still click but neither Skipp or Coventry look like scoring when they do get forward like in the last 10 minutes when Conor had a good shot on the edge of the box which went over.
We can't lose the defensive stability of the last 2 matches after the 4 conceded against Stoke but we just need Grant, Leaburn, Alli, TC, Carey, Kelman or whoever to be ruthless when a chance comes calling.

You can have players coming together that doesn't result in a foul. I personally think Leaburn has thrown himself down theatrically from a slight nudge, but that doesn't make it a dive either.PragueAddick said:

You could argue that yesterday showed how wide forwards in the £1.5-£2m bracket often lack the quality to influence the game consistently.
Ali, Shade and Kamara were all very huff and puff, and you could add Apter to that list if he had been available. They all played in or around their best positions, and the end result was a 0–0.2 -
I don’t think there is any doubt we were desperately trying to bring in a 7 and a 10. But if your targets - those within your price bracket- aren’t available then it’s more sensible to stay with what we’ve got than buy for the sake of it.ShootersHillGuru said:We’re sixth so why am I going to moan. If someone told me we’d be in that position after seven games I’d have laughed. One loss. Surely it’s fantastic. Sorry I’m not convinced yet again. We’ve just had a transfer window and arguably for me the two most important areas to sign quality we didn’t. This team is crying out for a midfield playmaker yet we signed two more defensive midfielders and Ouma who is going to take time to settle. We are experiencing exactly the same problems we all wanted addressing from last season. Midfield, certainly without Chalobah is static and without creativity. My second big gripe is we still don’t have a striker who scores goals. Kelman is the only potential player who might fulfil that role. Just like last season we are unable to score. We concede possession in every game. Another thing that needed attention from last season. Sixth and two points off joint top. It’s obvious the potential is there but we’re shy of realising it because of the same issues we needed to address from last season. We wanted Rak Sakyi and in the end it failed for whatever reason. Should we have then gone and got a cheaper version such as Kamara or Shade just to get someone in?
We have a squad of decent lower championship, upper league one players particularly in midfield. We need to add quality not quantity to what are two key positions and I think it’s best to wait rather than repeat what we did last year.6 -

Of course the pricing point is currently ridiculously high and will put off a few , we are a rudderless bucket shop .
if we chopped the price in half I don’t think we’d be selling thousands more .

1. Agree. But in this case, Miles is just standing his ground waiting for the ball to drop to his feet. A Lloyd Jones would use his body weight to try and get the ball. Thats a coming together. That guy knew he had no chance physically against Miles so he pushes him forward with both hands. That's gaining an illegal advantage. Got to be given as a foul.Croydon said:

2. Honestly, no idea how a player throws himself to the ground to fool the ref, but it is still not a dive?
3. Apart from the grey anonymous commentator on that Sky/EFL clip, who has said it wasn't a pen? Rich Cawley, (a Fulham fan) says that, outside the box, that's always given as a foul. The implication, not spoken, is that inside the box, in the 87th min, with no VAR back-up. the ref bottles it. That lad with his TikTok clip, who is a neutral, called it a pen. I didn't find his clip helpful, its too short, but he has the footage on his phone he will have studied. Who else? if you show me a studio of ex-pros with access to slo-mo, and their consensus is "too soft", maybe I'd listen. The old Charlton TV had that. You can call "biased" to that set-up too, but Curbs and Scotty usually balanced out Brownie's more tribal takes.

I think Cardiff is relatively a must win game or at least a must score. Not convinced with our set pieces those need to improve and Nkeng and knibbs should really get some minutes. Overall take a point but we need to do better going forward. I'm already thinking towards January and that supposed JRS money needs to spend on a rw or number 10. I think getting okonkwo on a permanent needs to be done asap.

Far too early to be using the "must win" stuff, I am sure we will win, and a point wouldn't be the end of the world, I would say "must not lose" game...and we go into the International break in a relatively good position with our AWOL contingent being available thereafter...YardAddickt said:I think Cardiff is relatively a must win game or at least a must score. Sort of agree the Leaburn push was a def penalty, the guy just pushed him in the back with both hands...
Anyway, we'd have probably missed it...so move on, a point was ok on the balance of play, we had the first half, they had the majority of the second...2 -

I think it’s a clear penalty. If that happens anywhere else on the pitch it’s a free kick, there’s no higher threshold for a foul that leads to a penalty.Croydon said:
I am sorry but you are absolutely mental if you think that is a clear penalty. He is never in a million years getting that, and you'd be livid if it went against us.PragueAddick said:
Just FYI, you won't find me involved in any anti- Golfie football pile-ons. We have a professional relationship, which I value. And btw in that relationship he bears no resemblance to his football persona here.Dansk_Red said:

"Allo, allo, fucking useless, fucking useless".4 -

Far too early to be using the "must win" stuff, I am sure we will win, and a point wouldn't be the end of the world, I would say "must not lose" game...and we go into the International break in a relatively good position with our AWOL contingent being available thereafter...YardAddickt said:I think Cardiff is relatively a must win game or at least a must score.
Yeah fair enough I'm getting ahead of myself it's certainly a must not lose but we should definitely be looking to go into the break having at least scored even if it's a 1-1 result0 -
Could you do one for the odds of golfie quitting the forum?oohaahmortimer said:We’re much improved on last seasons dross but we’re missing that X factor (JRS may have provided)
There’s no real spark, proper graft , 100% effort and can’t knock them for trying .
We should stay up but just like this time last season I’ll be looking down not up because we offer limited goal threat.
I like Skipp and he has a touch of class about him .
