Yeah - sorry I will adjust my handicap for next time....charente addick said:Playing matchplay golf against someone you’re giving 16 shots to. They beat you on the last hole then strut off like they’re Rory McIlroy despite the fact that you actually played the course 15 shots less that them!3 -

Calling a formation 3-5-2 and not 5-3-2 when you're playing wing-backs.0

Surely that is exactly what handicaps are for ?charente addick said:Playing matchplay golf against someone you’re giving 16 shots to. They beat you on the last hole then strut off like they’re Rory McIlroy despite the fact that you actually played the course 15 shots less that them!1 -
Sounds like your gripe is with the person you were playing, not the system. To be fair, they sound like a bit of a nob. 😂charente addick said:Playing matchplay golf against someone you’re giving 16 shots to. In fact, it sounds like the handicap system worked perfectly, giving you a close fought match despite being golfers of very different abilities.

Yeah that sounds exactly like the game you’d want to play. Fair golf.0

Being so disappointed by yesterday’s match that I can’t be bothered to do the player’s marks!
Sorry @Lancashire Lad for all your hard work!1 -
Earl Spencer
Just let it go man. Don’t spend the rest of your life bitter. Charles tried to love her but he loved someone else. He didn’t kill her.11 -
Why are we listening to Carragher on a Liverpool game again?
I’m guessing Neville will be on the Man U game later too.
This must be a conscious decision that Sky make, because they always seem to do it, but why?Do people like having a biased commentator?1 -

I think on every occasion I have used the red button, we have had a commentator biased towards the opposition.lordromford said:Why are we listening to Carragher on a Liverpool game again?

I think sometimes it can seem that way, but I think that’s partly our own biases coming into play.gringo said:

A lot of co-commentators are ex-pros and there’s a decent chance they might have played for one of the teams, so to an extent it’s a bit inevitable.
But Neville and Carragher are one club players. They could put them on commentary duty for literally any other game. But no, they always get their own club.
If Sky put an ex player of the opposition on commentary with them, I’d have less of an issue because it would have balance, but that never happens. The only exception is when Man U and Liverpool play each other. Then they're both on duty, which seems fair enough, but again, special treatment. 🙄
It’s gone on for too long now. You can’t even claim they’re providing any back room insight because neither of them have played for about 15 years. They played for different managers with different players in a different era. The game has moved on. All they provide is bias. It’s just not right.0 -
they all seem to have knowledge of the other team, but very little about ourselves.lordromford said:

Earl Spencer has had to apologise to Piers Morgan for errors in his book. How can we believe anything else he says in the book.5

Spencer also once vowed that he'd never make money from his sisters death.
Morgan wants the books pulped - it may be the best outcome for all concerned.2 -

BBC2 tonight 7.30pm Race Against The Tide. Adults building fkn sand castles before the tide comes in and demolishes them. So glad I paid my licence fee.3

It’s not the handicap system that annoys me, anyone who plays regular golf signs up for it. It’s the bragging about it afterwards as if they’ve shot 72, not 92. Never a flicker of acknowledgement that it was the shots allocation that enabled them to compete. It’s far more likely that a 20 handicapper is going to score 5 below their handicap than someone who is playing off 5. This is particularly accentuated in the summer when a ‘bobbler’ can get 50+ yards extra roll. The bigger hitter doesn’t get the same advantage as they generally have to club down to maintain accuracy and approaches don’t hold the green as well.lordromford said:

When you’re driving and you pull in to let someone go from the opposite direction due to parked cars etc and a moron behind you then decides try to overtake and blocks everyone. It’s happened three times to me in the last few weeks.7
