That’s all? We’ve sold ten times that in subscriptions to other clubs looking to benefit from Charlton Lifers’ player analysis. It’s the hottest thing in world football.Chunes said:

They’re gambling on potential though. 7 million is peanuts for premier league clubs it’s peanuts for a team like Southampton who’ve recently been in the prem.Chunes said:
I think the only point of difference between fans on this, is that some say they don't see what all the fuss is about, and the others say they can't wait for him to show what the fuss is about. They sound similar but they come across very differently.Sword65pf said:
I’m sorry but even the most staunch fan of Mbick would have to admit he’s not done anything to overly impress , he certainly hasn’t shown us why sides have offered good money. And a good loan spell at Colchester doesn’t prove anything. Still waiting to see what others do.Diebythesword said:
I agree with the rest of your posts but comparing Ouma and mbick is ridiculous, if Ouma showed 5% of what mbick’s shown in his cameos we absolutely would not be on his back.Swisdom said:First Ouma, now Mbick. Why can't we get off our players backs. This league is relentless and incredibly tough both technically and physically.
As much as people are saying he's nowhere near Leaburn's level - how many of you were saying last year Miles was useless and should be loaned out or sold? It takes time to adapt. Factor in Micah had a serious injury in January and it's going to take a while to get up to speed and to trust his body fully (just like it did Leaburn after his injuries)
Miles has flourished since he had a full and proper pre-season and Micah hasn't had that luxury so is playing catchup.
Brighton rarely get it wrong when it comes to transfers and they definitely tried pulling our pants down with £3m initial bid - but they have clearly seen something in him so maybe we should support our player rather than destroying a 19 year old finding his way
Brighton's recruitment is so good that other teams pay them £1.5 million per year for their player analysis.
They bid £7 million for Micah. The kid's only had a loan in L2. They must rate him pretty highly.
Personally, I watch him having faith that, with time, he'll show why.
He’s got the build that top clubs want in their strikers. The talent can be developed later. He’d be nowhere near their first teams at this point3 -
Yes, they're gambling on potential. That's literally my point. And Brighton are arguably one of the best around at spotting it. So good that other clubs pay them for it.AberystwythAddick said:

So are we saying if you are not within the game, you are not entitled to an opinion of how good a player is and we know nothing?, there are many examples of the professionals getting it wrong.LoOkOuT said:

There was a lot of excitement over DK having a good season in L2. But MB was having a marginally better season (up until injury), while being two years younger.
How many clubs made bids for DK? We couldn't shift him for £1 million. But we're refusing to sell Mbick for £7 million.
But on this board, it feels like there were more calls for DK to come back and play in the first team. It's an odd one.0 -
This is absolutely brilliant and well worth half an hour of your time. The stuff at Colchester in particular is really heartwarmingfenaddick said:4 -
I'd guess it's because more people have seen DK play, as he's had more minutes in the first team. But that was because we were at league one level.Chunes said:There was a lot of excitement over DK having a good season in L2. We had actually seen Kanu play and the majority had already liked what Kanu was about it Mbick was and still is a complete unknown. Mbick is always going to be valued more as well due to his play style and having 2 years of development on Kanu.Chunes said:There was a lot of excitement over DK having a good season in L2. Oh fuck it!!, sorry lookout, had a quick read didn’t see it as a joke.👍fenaddick said:

Am I misremembering him scoring against Hill Valley Clock Towers in the FA Cup a couple of years back, albeit with bigger hair?2

#cafc boss Nathan Jones has confirmed that contract negotiations have commenced with Micah Mbick's camp. Southampton had a £5million bid rejected in the summer transfer window. https://t.co/us39BWmlVQ https://t.co/vvxFHPhj1S

But he's done nothing at this level... Whats the point? - Should save the money on his wage that will increase and sell him to the next club that offers £10
-
Think the point is to keep him happy and I’m guessing to extend his contract by a further year. What you don’t want is a player throwing his toys out the pram because he’s playing championship football on L2/non-league wagesForeverAddickted said:But he's done nothing at this level... Never been that impressed with Mbick. But it is early days in his career.2

Scored twice in friendly v Barnet last week.14

Reading between the lines of NJ's comments regarding Mbick, it sounds like his team aren't keen on signing a contract.0

I assume the strategy is to get him signed up for another year or two and, if he won’t sign, then we’ll be in a strong position to sell him in the summer whilst he still has two years remaining on his deal with us.ElliotCAFC said:Reading between the lines of NJ's comments regarding Mbick, it sounds like his team aren't keen on signing a contract.
