Booked tickets for The Bootleg Beatles at The Palladium next month with my daughter.
I forgot they even existed.  Have them them several times and they were on the support for Oasis at Knebworth back in yesteryear.

Realised they are doing a gig in Tunbridge Wells when I googled thanks to you jogging my memory so thats date night sorted for me and Mrs D next week :)

Should be good. They're doing songs from their 5 best selling albums - Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt Peppers, White Album & Abbey Rd.
  • Going to see Celtic band the Poozies at Blackheath Halls. First time to this venue - anyone been there? Does it work well as a music venue.

Been to a few gigs there in the past, pretty decent venue.

Last time I went was about 20 years ago to see Geno Washington. Had a few beers and my mate turned up with some skunk he'd got off a guy at work. I hadn't smoked it for years but got stuck in and sank a few more drinks. By the time we got in, I could barely stand and we bumped into Charlton Dan's dad. God only knows what we said to him and what he thought of us, we must have bored him to death!

the floor is flat and not raised, so sometimes sightlines can be impaired (unless they do it as seated). Sound is decent

the Royal Albert Hall is one of the greatest venues to watch anything in, but especially music
    Listening, though, that's another matter.

Morden Arms, Greenwich, last night.  Ukadelix.  Who'd have thought you could have such a great night with five (yes, five, the drummer's hiding behind the lead ukist) ladies of pensionable age.

Had some great nights in the Morden Arms, but can never find out who is playing there!

They're on at the Pelton Arms - I might go and watch them...

Saw Joe Bonamassa there this year, possibly the best blues guitarist around at the moment . Clapton and other British
R&B artists shaped his music today.

So I travelled to a venue I’ve not been to for a very long time, The Brighton Dome to see Alison Moyet on Saturday. She was absolutely brilliant, covering a wide range of her back catalogue, finishing on a real high in the encore. I never saw her in her prime but so pleased I eventually got to see her.

I was there too with my bestie!
I can see myself in the photo as we were slap bang in the middle seats about 5 rows back.
We were Yazoo fans from the age of 12 so there was no way we were missing this. She was as magnificent as ever. Loved her interaction with the audience and she’s incredible when she’s singing.
    Still buzzing from it!
First time I’ve been to the Dome, excellent venue 🤩

I used to live in Sussex so had been to the Dome a few times, most memorably seeing Depeche Mode there a couple of times, in 82 & 83 ! Love the Dome, similar but not as nice as the Royal Albert Hall....

Europe at the Hammersmith Apollo, celebrating 40 years of The Final Countdown album.
Tremendous performance from all concerned.  Big production for the more recent numbers they started the show with, huge sound, lights and back projections. Crowd went nuts for Rock The Night and the rest of TFC. Being Swedish there is usually a total lack of irony and everything delivered with total conviction (nothing wrong with that) but Joey and the lads cheerfully sent themselves up and how they looked back in the 80's while faithfully performing the whole album.
Fair to say however that not all the material on TFC quite stands up to Europe's big proggy material of the last decade or so.
Special guests were Gun who made maximum use of their 35 minute slot and smashed out a spectacular greatest hits set to a highly appreciative full house.
Openers were Canadians The Damn Truth who also impressed despite ropey sound and a predelliction for pseudo 60's fancy dress outfits

Next up: The Mission performing Gods Own Medicine in Kentish Town - I expect I'll remember more about it this time than I do from seeing them play in 1986

Not quite as old as Charlie Harper(UK Subs).

    Impressive that he's still performing..

You'll enjoy Chuck Prophet - saw him somewhere about a year ago.
  • Saw Arab Strap at Heaven under the Arches at Charing Cross. It's a strange venue: hyper-secure to get in, cramped inside, and a surprisingly good sound system. I didn't bother with a beer; I suspect it's undrinkable stuff. However, Arab Strap were very good musically and good entertainers with it.

Heaven is a great club. Used to love it in there late 80s. The Spectrum all dayers when they opened up the whole thing were legendary.

Arab Strap suit that arch very well I’d say.

Jamie T acousitc gig in Kingston.  Made me appreciate what a good musician he is overall.  When playing with a band, he pretty much bashes out the songs, but stripped back, you can appreciate their detail.   He is also sober (at the moment) which also helps as I am not sure I have ever seen him without him being drunk.

Some top notch b sides and album tracks played, although not much from the new album (which is excellent)
