Nothing looks like a pen at that speed.

Conor did not even raise 1% of a protest.

Just seen the video of the pen clearly a dive and Coventry get do not leave the ground so made no tackle …. Once again like QPR and Pompey at home ref cost us with a mistake

To be fair this one probably wasn't but the first one which was dismissed should have been a penalty to them so on balance was probably fair
The first one was a free kick outside the box and a red card
It was similar to the Luton game a good few years back, at most a yellow, as the Bristol player made contact with the ball and missed, therefore a goal scoring opportunity wasn’t denied.

100% mate, the guy was going over before any contact was made...
  • Bit surprised by the mostly negative comments at the start of the thread.

Thought we were good for the first 15 mins or so, then poor until around 55/60 when changing to the 352 brought us back into it. We were the better team after that.

Definitely good value for a point and could, and maybe should, have nicked it.

Quite enjoyed it as well and think the boring to watch comments are a bit over exaggerated (for this game in particular, not in general).
Totally agree, just back after a 200 mile round trip and myself and a friend going for the first time enjoyed.

******* Definitely an improvement on the Cardiff game and we made more chances than we have for a while******

Agree with the comments about Josh and Micah, both looked off the pace. Probably a fair result on the balance of play but at times we made a good side look ordinary rather than the other way round

I must have been watching a different game because we made very few chances. As far as I can remember there was......

    •   The goal
    •   TC's chance
    •   Knibbs free-kick

In addition Grant had a shot in the first half that was deflected over & Kelman had a shot that he didnt hit cleanly that I think was deflected.

Against Cardiff we also scored,  had the chance Grant had that he should have passed & a chance for Kelman.

Not much in it I would say. And definitely not good enough for 90+ mins
Against Cardiff we could have conceded 6, xg today (if anyone takes any notice), was just a tad lower than our last 3 games combined….massive improvement I’d say but some people love to be negative. Too many glass half empty on here

So we didn’t lose 0-3,like a few of the let’s say less positive posters predicted, actually had a decent ref for a change, on to Burnley and a heavy away defeat as no doubt predicted by the happy people on this  site .

Sounds like Bell was injured during the international break. Wonder if Edwards would have been on the bench otherwise

Was told earlier Chalobah is back in roughly in 3 weeks
Did they also tell you how long he’d be back for?
We shouldnt be relying on Chalobah with his record!. He should always have been a finisher sub etc… i thought thats what he was brought in to do.

Were people really predicting we’d lose 0-3? That’s crazy

Good opening period when we looked at it. Then we drift back into this mundane backward passing and constantly giving the ball away.

Can't see why Brighton chased after mbick, sell looked a level below what's needed.

And why from set pieces we defend do we not leave at least 1 player at the edge of the box to clear defensive headers,  it led to the penalty.

But an improvement on recent displays.

Eric Cantona had a phrase for Didier Deschamps - porter d'eau or water carrier. None of our central midfielders are of Deshcamps' quality but the criticism remains the same. No incisive passes and no third man runs (probably not allowed by Jones anyway because of the system we play) beyond the forwards but an abundance of short, square and backward passes. When we do try to do more than that, invariably, we lose possession. Coventry and Skipp have a scoring record between them of 5 goals in 353 league appearances.

Couple that midfield and the fact that we are reliant so much on counter attacks utilsing the pace of TC and Grant, it isn't surprising that we've scored just 8 goals in 9 matches (only Lincoln have fewer), with only those two players plus Jones finding the net. In fact, we've not scored more than once in our last 7 games (8 if you include Spurs).

I think most people will accept a season of consolidation but I really did think that we would, especially in dumping five at the back, be a bit more pro-active going forward. We've just reverted to type.

Karlan Grant won man of the match in the lounge
Is it called the Who Scored Today Award?
Might as well be when you have as many non performers as we consistently produce !

Wow. Didn't lose? How about going out and winning more than a few quite winnable matches, this one included. Threw away another three pointer, there for the taking.

Knibbs free kick was decent, hopefully he gets a few more opportunities, not like we’ve got a tonne of options anyways!

First game back after that long break Could have been a lot worse.

i liked Skipp and Cov ar first and thought it could develop, but it hasn’t 😂
He won’t from the bench . He’s barely played since he signed for us . To positive for NJ I think .

Cov and Skipp are just too slow as well.  They’re okay individually, but they need someone with a bit of pace alongside them.

We’re also too focused on getting the ball to TC still when we go forward.  We need some other options

Defended well but we’ve no ideas going forward as usual .
I still don’t see what all the fuss is about with Mbick. He’s certainly not done anything in a first team shirt yet . Today he was anonymous.

Bristol City looked dangerous so a point isn’t a disaster.
Plus points . We are still undefeated at home . Billy slotted back into the defence well . Grant looked keen .
It’s going to be a long season .
Totally agree I'd have snatched the hand off of anyone offering £5 Million

An ok point in isolation but that's 6 games without a win. Including home games against QPR, Portsmouth and Bristol City.

I think we actually look worse going forward than we did last season. And the less said about our midfield, the better.
If you don't give your manager a championship budget this is the inevitable result.

Would’ve taken it this morning. Same old we look shakey at the back with 4 at the back and look toothless going forward with 3 at the back. Edwards looking sooo rusty and very league one, have a feeling it will take him a long time to get back to the level he was at.
Don't make me laugh, it's his first game back in best part of a year, give the lad a chance eh,...
But should he be starting ? As I said in the preview I would have thought it better to ease him in gently from the bench. He's been out for a year & played a couple of under 21 games, I just don't see how he can be considered ready to start games.

Were the only team in the championship not to have won a game in the last six
  • We are so dull to watch.

Decent for the first 10 & last 10, but no creativity or intent for the other 70.

Jones is a naturally defensive coach & is probably overachieving given the budget he has compared to other teams in the league, but it's not fun to watch

It's the midfield that needs an upgrade for me.
  • Saw a group of 6-8 tourists with scarfs leave the ground afterwards and wondered what they thought if it. The crowd were flat and so were the players.  Such little skill and creativity in the squad.  Individually I like the players, they are grafters who give their all.
But the midfield is so weak.  Skipp and Coventry are identical players with no forward play. Grant can not pass, will score a few but his vision and awareness are miles off.
We have tried to evolve and it has not worked as we do not have the personnel to do so. I can see us going back to a back 5 which is probably sensible but risks weakening TCs attacking influence as it will remove wingers.
Need a win quickly, as whilst we have only lost 2 it's just far too many draws.
