And there’s people saying ship him out on loan. TC and Leaburn would not be playing like they are now in the championship if they hadn’t had a year learning the championship. We will benefit long term from Mbick playing in the championship this season, even if in the short term it is tough for him
As long as we stay up experimenting with him. By which time if he is as good as people suggest won’t be with us.
That’s the balance we need to strike. We managed to stay up last season while giving TC and Leaburn minutes to develop them. We need to do the same with Mbick and Mwamba this season
TC and Leaburn had games in league 1 though which helped the development, Mbick hasn’t and it shows, he also isn’t near as effective as the other two, for me  if Mbick and Mwamba are in the picture it needs to be sporadically off the bench as I don’t see either quite good enough yet.

Would have liked him to have a League one loan. He is nowhere near a Championship striker. At the risk of getting stick, I don’t see what Brighton see in him. His physicality was a boon in the U21s but the Championship is full of big physical defenders. Not his fault that Jones played him as a number ten.
Brighton are the best run club in the country and their recruitment is an absolute joke, even Southampton’s youngster development and academy is brilliant. If both those think theirs a player in their more than happy to give them the benefit of the doubt. Have to at least give him the season before we can make evaluations

I would say with Micah I am largely in the unimpressed with what I've seen so far but recognise he has huge potential and in flashes has shown of what he can be capable of when he develops a little more, Mwamba looked much more up for the level to me on the eye test.

If Brighton value him at £5m we should get them on the phone immediately, and grab the £50m they must think Leaburn is worth! :p

Saw a few signs tonight that were better.

He isnt a battering ram lump, and I can see that he is technically a very good player who would likely look much better playing for Southampton than us.

A couple of times tonight he took it down well, and laid it off, and he is actually better with the ball played into his feet.

I’d agree with that. For probably the first time I saw a couple of encouraging signs.

I'd roll the dice and start him upfront with kelman... Think would look a different player with someone making intelligent runs off of him. Leaburn is putting himself about, but we need goals
  • I’m sure there is a very good player there and I’ve seen some nice touches but he looks like he’s carrying a bit too much weight. He looks a bit slow off the mark and heavy to me. If he were using that weight to good effect it’d be ok but he doesn’t appear to be that type of player so I wonder if he could do with losing a few pounds.

I don't think he looks heavy at all, he's a big lad but he's very lean

Play him as a striker and not a 10 if you want to get the best out of him.
Id start him up top Saturday against Watford alongside Kelman.
Leaburn for all his effort just isn't good enough when it comes to scoring a goal.

People are expecting far too much out of him. Unfortunately when it comes to strikers and wingers, fans look at just one number and players get judged by it. Miles suffers from the same.

I didn’t think he was actually that bad on Saturday, had a good moment flicking the ball over the defender.

TC is three years and two months ahead of him. Three years ago TC was being called all manner of names at Gillingham away in the cup.

    Give the boy some time.
I think people are commenting on what they see, and in general the consensus is that there is obviously something about him, however the time he should be given shouldn’t be in the 1st team yet. Miles unfortunately is suffering due to our lack of creativeness and finds himself battling too far from goal, so absolutely he needs to be cut some slack, but he needs to get himself into goal scoring areas aswell, he needs to make that decision.
There were a few unpunished fouls on Leabirn yet again. I despair of refs.

Definitely grew a little bit more tonight… i think he will get better every game he plays, until he scores, and then he will be top notch.

Think he’s got the issue when Leaburn first came through where he thinks he can dribble through everyone like he could at U21 level and in L2. Not rapid but for someone with his kind of build he moves much smoother and quicker then you would expect

When he gets a chance in our team he has to realise that he's playing in the Championship and not League Two. Keep it simple.
He showed some decent moments last night but then held onto the ball for too long and got dispossessed.
In League Two he could probably get away with trying to do things on his own. In the Championship he needs his team-mates.

But, yet again, those two sides weren’t bidding £5m for Mbick to be in there starting 11. They’d have bought him and loaned to league 1/2.

He is young, he is going to be inconsistent, he is going to have games he struggles to get involved in. At same time, he will have decent moments through this season. We, as fans, should be patient.

If we had the luxury of options that those two clubs have I am sure we would have loaned him to League One. But we don’t have those options, and Jones has clearly seen enough in training to think he can impact games in the Championship.

It’s a long season. Would not be shocked if he figures it out quickly - goes on to score 5 in 5 or something by mid December and then he’s gone in January and all those currently saying they don’t see it are wondering why we didn’t keep him.
  • Anyone who could score 5 in 5 games playing in this NJ team would be worth way more than £5-7m.

This wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. Puts a run together between now and Christmas and goes for £10m+ in January. There's absolutely a player worth persevering  with and keep on giving him minutes will only help.

He’s obviously got some talent but I’m not sure throwing him into Championship football out of position is what he needed when recovering from a serious injury.

Not a chance he is scoring 5 in 5 in the championship. We have seen nothing to suggest it’s a possibility. Let him have 5 shots in 5 games 1st.

A nicely directed header in the build-up to our equaliser. I haven't heard any mention of Alli's decent hold-up play and pass either, so credit to him.

What is the point you are trying to make?

He’s had more attempts on goal than any other player in our team since the return from the international break so it can’t be that the games are passing him by…

How many on target? What’s that stat?Obviously need to move the goalposts because the most telling stat is 0 goals
