That was beyond depressing, and time for Calamity Jones to get the hell out of my beloved club2
-
He changed the formation and about half the team today. What do you mean "doesn't change"?YardAddickt said:I feel numb we are falling apart and Jones is oblivious to the problems he can't stay in this job if he doesn't change6 -
No matter what combination Jones throws together we can’t keep the ball or pass it to one of our own players. Our possession stats are awful. We rarely manage more than one goal and when we get it try and sit back and defend for the rest of the game. This must be coming from the coaching staff. We need a change of management and give the new manager time to decide what is required in January.8

East Kent Addick said:I've had enough -:time for Jones to go - clueless twatI think I've had enough too, whether he stays or goes.Same old dropping back hoping for a one nil after we score, and then the second half was a prime example of players not giving a shit. Poor performances are one thing but no effort or commitment is always inexcusable. That's down to Jones and the players - they can all fuck off, or stray. I'll take a leaf out of their book - I couldn't give a shit.5

Okonkwo was blameless for any of the goals, plus he kept the score line down to what could have been a land slide.valleynick66 said:Okonkwos worst game to date. Lloyd also off his best.
Yes the disallowed goal did for us but we just drifted to sleep.
TC kept plugging away and didn’t let his miss affect him. JRC I thought warranted his place.
One or two clearances weren’t acceptable but apart from that he was fine….he’d get a 7.5 from me.7 -
Not being in the relegation places once since returning to the championship is a reason to sack NJ? Good one mateBedsaddick said:

1 point from Burnley, Watford and Norwich.
Just sickening.11 -
Jones has to go. If we stick with him we get relegated. If we change manager maybe we still get relegated but at least we tried something. That second half was comical, one of the worst I’ve ever seen by Charlton.9

We needed the half time whistle to regroup and come out fighting in the second half, god knows what was said as we came out even worse!Utter shite again3

We're just a team where everything has to go perfectly. We have to take every chance, the few that we get, we can't make any mistakes because teams will always score when we do, we can't be on the receiving end of a dodgy offside and we can't have anything other than a totally perfect day. That's completely unsustainable. We took our two big chances against Derby, our two against West Ham and then were grateful they missed their pen and Preston were so bad we only needed one goal. Today we had a few chances and we haven't seen enough angles of the disallowed goal to say if it was offside or not but it's a wild guess from the linesman. The big difference today was that we scored in our first big spell of pressure, they scored in theirs, then again at the start of the half. We then scored in our second bit of pressure but it was disallowed and they picked us off as we got more and more desperate. We needed everything to go our way today and it didn't so we lost. That can't keep being what we rely on because it's not worked since August14

Not taking that money for Mbick to strengthen the midfield is the decision that relegates us.

I like Jones. I think he runs the club well in general. But we are going down and he doesn't have a Plan B.
Unfortunately, I can't see any other option than to try to find a manager who has a track record of motivating struggling teams to try to get us competitive.1 -
I’ve had enough of jones now. We saw how this team can play the first 15 minutes. We get a goal and sit really deep inviting the equaliser that we can all see coming. I don’t believe the players are all that bad it’s jones tactics that are at fault. Every game is the same. You can see the players confidence disappearing every game.1

You won’t have to wait long for us to be in a relegation place with this form!ProperCharlton said:

2 poinrs from QPR, Portsmouth and Cardiff pretty poor too4

I’ve always found Jones to be unlikeable but at least he was doing a good job in league one.
Now he doesn’t know what to do with this team against better teams and managers, so times up for me.
Thanks and see ya later.8 -
Kelman is quality, think today put everything to bed about him, can create chances and score chances. Rankin Costello is a fantastic passer of the ball. Koumetio had a brilliant first half and then seemingly became sentient around the hour mark and was awful. Some awful defending, really poor goals to concede. Norwich were there for the taking at the beginning of the first half.9

Still can’t get my head around why Brighton or Southampton were willing to pay over 5mil for him . I’d have snatched their hands off.Croydon said:Not taking that money for Mbick to strengthen the midfield is the decision that relegates us.13 -

The injury time shows the mentality of our team. With two goals to make up, we still played it around the back as if we were drawing at least. There is very little urgency shown and the high press, and running that is so successful for other teams, just isn't in our locker. We just don't have the quality in the squad. I'm not sure Jones has the answers, but I have serious doubts as to whether a change of manager would get different results.
This is in the owners, to go into the season with a squad well below the league average on quality. How last season ended, was a big alarm that hasn't been addressed. The three early wins were just a blip of good form in an otherwise 20 odd games run of awful form (performances).
Jones needs a miracle turnaround now or he won't make December, let alone January.

I left a comment on the match thread but i think it was too late .I really believe now there is no way out . I have follwed Charlton for over 70 years and win or lose we always gave the opposition a good game , Not any more can any one remember a good performance, were not even gallant but unlucky Charlton . The opposition waltz through our defence and we never be honest look like scoringa goal even today a 1 on 1 after 30 seconds went begging , The last 3 games should be awake up call but is anyone listening. I really cant think ofa solution , So sad. Im sure im not the only one but this really mucks up my weekend4

Looks like the whole of the squad joined up with the missing Ouma9

Its probably all already been said but can only confirm we are seriously bad and going down bar a miracle.
But one thing that really annoys me. At the end of every game we end up a complete shapeless mess with the only tactic hoofing it forward in hope. It just looks like a kids game as 11 players charge around chasing the ball.
Its pitiful.7 -
Under Jones we used to only be able to have one good half.
Now we’re lucky to get a good 20 minutes.
It’s backwards we are going.
Jones out.

I’m not sure that’s true, I think this lot of players think Jones is a clown and can’t be bothered with him. You only have to watch the way they look at him when he’s yelling at themNo.1 in South London said:Jones will not be able to turn this around. Not because he doesn’t have the skill set, but because we simply have a completely under equipped squad of players for this level ☹️……… and apart from the outlier at West Ham, we haven’t even played the really good teams yet.1 -

First game of the season for me for various reasons but there is very very little enticing me back. I haven't been in the Jones Out brigade, but we played well for 15 minutes, scored then played for a 1-0 win. That's on Jones. Every time. It's not working. Called the subs man for man and predicated they'd have no impact. No one was playing for the last hour. Just unacceptable.0

Usually I moan about the lack of goals that we score but now I'm getting concerned how our defence its getting ripped apart game after game. Stoke & Cardiff gave us a lesson & now 2 out of form teams in Watford & Norwich could have had 5 or 6 each.
I think we used all our midfielders today apart from Skipp - Carey, JRC, Knibbs, Grant, Mwamba, Cov all came & went and I don't think NJ knows who to play now.
Problem is, even if we do tighten up at the back are we going to score enough to win a game. 2 strikers on the bench today haven't got a goal between them all season and neither look like scoring either - certainly neither would have scored with the chance Kelman had.
No idea what the answer is. I'm not a NJ fan but like others have said, do the owners have the money to replace him - I doubt it. So I'm afraid its same old same old & hello League 1 next season13
