I'd say its more on the players on the pitch. Theyve got to grow some, seems to me that NJ threw a few fucks about at half time and some of our players didnt like it so put that 'performance' in 2nd half. NJ will get all the dogs abuse on here and elsewhere, but for me, the owners are the ones to blame,so short sighted, absolutely no money spent in the summer, theyve checked out,its obvious, they short changed Jones and ultimately, theyve short changed us as fans because,as its stands, we look likely to be playing league 1 again next year.fenaddick said:

At 1-0 up, it was clear what was going to happen.
Too defensive, too many off the pace.
Baffling that Josh was introduced into the starting line-up, and why bring on Mbick to chase the game? He hasn't looked ready this season. Why take off Carey who was far from the worst on the pitch.
Jones looks devoid of ideas, and the lack of urgency in the team as the minutes ticked away was telling.
I fear that NJ may not be able to turn it around.
For 4 transfer windows the call has been for a central midfielder who can link defence with forwards. Why can't NJ see that as a priority?8 -
It’s a shambles and shameful. We scraped a win against Preston and haven’t won since. Hammered by Stoke and Cardiff, could have been a rugby score against Watford and now Norwich easily turn us over. We lack confidence, drop way too deep and look desperate. Don’t know what the answer is but Jones has to stop the late subs tactic, where he chucks on the last ones sitting, plays without a discernible formation, with no structure and no hope. Not sure what the answer is….but this has relegation written all over it, especially as we lose/get tonked by teams on poor runs or in the bottom half, ergo relegation rivals. It’s been awful since week 3 and is getting dramatically worse.4

Yeah, agreed.golfaddick said:
Billy put in a couple of goal saving tackles. He might make the odd mistake but more positive than negative in my view.sammy391 said:Calamity Koumetio and Dire Ramsey at fault for at least 2 of the 3!Defence looks shaky every time a team comes forward. The midfield, regardless of how it changes, is piss poor, and the attack goes from potent threat to limp and lifeless at the drop of a hat!
no bones about it, we’re are in a tail spin and there is nothing looking likely to change.
the football is stale, fans are turning and league one the only likely destination
Billy is well in credit as is Ivan despite his OG.
In any team playing poorly, even your best players are going to have occasional errors. Billy is the least of our problems.11 -
Forget next week 3-0 for me but lose at home to Bolton jones gone for me that starting team ffs.0

Charlton, the gift that keeps giving. For you if you are a struggling opposition manager that is.
Norwich looked very ropey for the first 15 minutes and a good press led to an excellent finish by Kelman. But then....nothing. It was like watching the air escaping from a fast deflating balloon.
Norwich suddenly found the home team backing off them and playing deep. The visitors enjoyed the next 30 minutes with 90 per cent of the possession. Oh, and the Charlton defense tired itself in knots allowing Coventry to play their winger onside and guide him into the box so he could score his first goal of the season.
The second half saw more attacking intent from Charlton once we had gone 2-1 down and TC was threatening and Kelman was getting chances. The offside decision was poor and took the wind out of our sails and the third goal killed the game.
These bloody early kickoffs are doing us in. Those, and NJ playing the likes of Edwards and Carey who are just not up to standard. Grant is becoming a liability on the pitch. He does little with the ball and doesn't pick up opposition players. The yellow was shabby play from him. Coventry had an afternoon he will want to forget and was lucky not to notch up another penalty.
The scary thing is that the rot has started to set in with our defenders. L Jones had a poor game by his standards and even Billy K was looking ragged by the end of the game.
I can't see a change in manager not least because the club probably can't afford pay offs and the price of a replacement but NJ needs to turn matters around fast or the atmosphere at the club is going to get poisonous over the next few weeks.0 -
Can we get Coady in for the next match…10

We can’t keep playing 3 up front with these players, Grant and Campbell are not in the game enough.2

Get yourself a lottery ticket. That’s the luckiest thing to happen to a Charlton fan in a very long timect_addick said:Thought it was a 3 pm 10 am here….slept thru it luckily !4 -
This is the culmination of a series of catastrophic decisions.
We’ve played 3-5-2 for years and the players were drilled on where to be to within an inch of their lives. Jones decided to completely rip that up in the summer to try and make us more fluid in attack, but was unable to get the players to play 4-2-3-1 effectively. We’re now in a position where we can’t effectively play 3-5-2 or 4-2-3-1. We’re stuck. It’s beyond clear that we shouldn’t be playing with wingers, but Jones put our entire budget into signing wingers.TC is our most dangerous player, forcing us to shoehorn him in every week. We’d be so much better playing two up top with wing-backs, but we didn’t buy any wingbacks due to abandoning the 3-5-2.Long story short, we’re fucked.15 -
He’s saying we need to be harder to play against. Does that mean we’ll switch back to 7/8 defensive players on the pitch? He isn’t helping himself.1

They showed a stat on TV, that in a 15 minute spell around/after their equaliser goal, Norwich had 136 successful passes to our 7! All this from a team devoid of form.Dugdaleclass said:Charlton, the gift that keeps giving. For you if you are a struggling opposition manager that is.

Starting Edwards was a mistake and I don't like to observe this but Jones is making too many mistakes.6

Debates about whether Knibbs or Coventry or Mwamba etc should start look irrelevant when there is no team identity. Mesik or Edwards... Kelman or Leaburn... it doesn't matter. Will Chalobah's return turn our fortunes round? Nope.
First 15 or 20 minutes I was impressed how every single red shirt seemed to want it more than their opponent - personal battles were being won. That evaporated for no good reason, and the lack of team identity was then exposed.
Confidence clearly shot to pieces for the last half an hour, it just got worse and worse.7 -
Yes, decent interview for once. Calm & measured. I don't think he thought that even if we had got back to 2-2 that we would go on & win.fenaddick said:NJ not hiding behind the ref when talking to Sky1 -
But for how long were fans crying out to play with wingers because we were too defensive?ElliotCAFC said:This is the culmination of a series of catastrophic decisions.

It's a shit situation and we're now not equipped to deal with either formation at all.

I haven't watched all his 500 games but I can assure you that we have done that numerous times at Charlton - 2 weeks ago for example. We've been easy to player against since we got promoted as we give up possession too easily in midfield and are incapable of retaining possession outside our own half. We are tactically inept and so easy to play against - we're going down again at this rate.fenaddick said:

Jones has no plan b and plan an isn’t working.
I’m sad to say this but I think we need someone new otherwise not only do I worry about relegation but also our ability to come back up2 -

Make you spot on, Oz.ozaddick said:I can't blame the players, I can't blame NJ, even for all his faults and fragile ego... He does remind me of a sporned child at times, BUT the leaked info around the owners wanting fresh investment, and the potential of a full sale of the club is so so detrimental. It can only breed uncertainty, and that's being reflected in our lack of a decent off season, let alone the quality upgrade we could all see we required to stay up this season . We are fucked.
A feeling of demoralisation around The Valley from all quarters - management, players, supporters - which will take a miracle to turn around.
But agree, the buck(s) stops with the owners. Fail to prepare, prepare to fail. Plenty of words, but unwilling to listen to advice from those with experience of the game/club, failure to acknowledge that a decent CEO is essential in running off the field issues successfully, time & money wasted on unacceptable customer service & knee jerk practices which alienate the faithful....Just part of an growing list of why we are where we are tonight....in an almighty mess.
Too interested in counting their billions whilst CAFC burns.
Well, the chickens will start coming home to roost on Nov 3rd on a cold autumnal evening when there's a choice between watching the match (or not) at home in the warm or schlepping to SE7 for another expensive, doom laden 90+ minutes & the inevitable feckin road closures on the homeward journey. Hmmmm....Half year season ticket, anyone ?
A heartbreaking waste of the potential ahead when that final whistle was blown at Wembley just 2 years ago.8 -
It clearly doesn't take rocket science to understand that we absolutely must be taking three points from those teams around us and below us. Winnables. Yet, we're being tonked by every single one, all of whom have clearly 'worked us out'. I very much hope we will not be hardscrabbling relegation places and looking back with huge regret and gnashing of teeth at crucial points needlessly blown, places thrown away early in the season when accumulating points really counts massively. The winnables. Yet, we're not and hoping upon hope we're not rueing this current downslide towards season's end.0
