[cite]Posted By: RedArmySE7[/cite]Orient, I used to have a season ticket there alongside my Charlton one when I was under 16 (ticket cost £45) at that time Charlton were a Premier League side and Orient were Division 3 (Now League 2). Scary!

exactly the same with me mate, you a local?

    or Enfield Town

Welling, ground I've been to most apart from the Valley. Get this, I saw them play Yeovil when Welling lost 3-1 in a league Conference match, isn't that a depressing fact!
  • Dartford - always been my local team, used to go there before Charlton
  • Dartford, AFC Wimbledon and Welling, I can honestly say I do not have a soft spot for any of the other 91 league teams

    thankyou

I only said pointless as a matter of opinion to me They have been a steady top flight club for decades never being in very much danger so relatively dull for being bad. They haven't won the league since 1963 and only 2 cups in the last 20 years FA in 91 and league cup in 2008. For a club that has been secure in top flight football for so long it is dull. Meaning no excitement bottom-end of the top half of the premiership year in year out. Dull! and pointless (in my opinion). Sorry.
  • Soft spot for the 'Fleet that goes back to schooldays {a long, long time ago) . If the very worst ever happened to CAFC we could not support anyone else but would probably nip down to Brighton just to see a League game occasionally.(providing they keep going) . Otherwise Redhill in the Sussex League or Crawley in the Blue Square .
  • Don't be drawn in Sadie - Shag is only after one thing.

    Dulwich Hamlet FC

The second most local club I don't mind is FC Cologne.

My club is Charlton, always will be. I do not give a crap about anyone else.

    Dislike: Millwall (Obvious)
    Crystal Palace (")
Fulham (Something about them pisses me off)
    Chelsea (Enough said)
Sheffield Wednesday (Goes back to 89/90)
    Bristol City (1994)
Oldham Athletic (Goes back to 1989)

Like: Blackpool (Have relatives who love the Seasiders and I hope they go up)
Celtic (Always been my favourite Scottich side)

    Soft spots for: Bournemouth
    Accrington Stanley
    Sunderland
Brighton and Hove Albion (Similar to Charlton in many respects)
Doncaster Rovers (A fantastic recovery from near oblivion and a quality footballing side to boot)
    Obsessed by: Charlton Athletic

Don't bother me: Everyone else really!

So it's not just me then!!
  • I remember that game. I also remember thinking that SW's fans were just about the ugliest bunch of tached up/mulleted mutants I had ever had the misfortune to lay eyes on....I still don't think i've seen an uglier set of fans since!

Bearing in mind the image alongside your monika, surely you should be following me with support of the great Peruvian ex team, Deportivo Wanka?
  • Bournemouth.
Been my local team for over 20 years now

I remember two fat pissed up 40 plus mutants of which you speak outside Sellout after the match goading my brother and I (I was all of 16 my brother all of 11) that we were going down and other insults and laughing their highlighted moustaches off and chanting that they were staying up in the most uncalled for and arrogant way, I remember saying and after next week you will be joining us. I think Forest thrashed the arse off them the next week (thanks Cloughie) and sure enough Sheffield Mullet joined us, I pissed myself with laughter!!
Earlier in the season at Hillsborough I was with the Jr Reds and we were sat amongst Sheffield Mullet fans and realised that they were not of this planet for the first time then. Two ageing mullet boys saw fit to try and agitate the Charlton kids (more to our mirth than anything else), that was the point that I started to hate Sheffield Wednesday. I have taken great delight in all their demises since then and hope they go down and we bypass them on the way. I am not saying all their fans are this way but back in the late 80's and early 90's there was something very nasty about Sheffield Wednesday and the bile has remained!
  • Brighton pre Withdean
  • Really like Melbourne Victory.....love Tiene Fuego(my 5 a side team)

Obviouslt totally in love with Charlton and couldnt really give a rats about anyone else to be honest....

Well at least you've tried to justify yourself, fair play.

I beg to differ. Since '61, we've won 10 major domestic trophies (runners up 4 times) and won 3 European trophies (runners up once). Ok, of them, we've only won 3 of them trophies in the last 20 years (runners up twice), I can count decent cup runs ending in semi final defeat on 4/5 occasions from memory, watching exciting football with players like Gascoigne, Klinsmann and Ginola...more recently with the likes on Lennon and Modric (they're not quite on a par with them just yet), nearly going out of business and having to sell Gascoigne to survive, the Sugar v Venables board room war less than a year later, being in Ars*nal's shadow since Wenger took over, Lasagne-gate, 3-0 up at Half Time against 10 men in the Cup to lose 3-4...the list could go on and on.

Dull? Supporting Tottenham is like a rollercoaster. One minute you're on top of the world, the next you want to slit your wrists. Hardly dull. Pointless? Erm, nah.

You don't have to apologise Sades .

Very dull and extremely pointless they are . We can talk about this later in bed anyway

JohnBoyUK; you stand by your team fairplay to that and I like any other Charlton fan can sympathise with the financial struggles as we had more than our fair share, however the one thing that puzzles me is if Supporting Tottenham is so interesting why spend time on a Charlton fansite? Do you support both clubs? work at charlton? I personally find there is enough drama and excitement supporting Charlton so I wouldn't go looking elsewhere for my entertainment. Anyway ;ike I said it was just a matter of opinion :)

    anyway

Thanks again, but I think my husband wouldn't appreciate the intrusion lmao ;)
  • Sadie,

Johnboy comes here for a bit of intellectual stimulation. I think even he would accept that the mental age displayed on most Spurs fansites is about 11. My Spurs supporting nephew certainly thinks that anyway.
  • Tranmere Rovers

They play 10 mins walk from the inlaws and have provided some relief when stuck up there.

Also my little boy's first game was the 4-0 earlier this season, I'll always thank them for that.
  • Oldham, Bristol Rovers and Orient (well tomorrow anyway)
  • If we ever folded then I'd probably support give closet support to AFC Wimbledon as they are the closest club to me. Kingstonian being a bit of a joke. Hate palace and Millwall and hope Hammers go down. Have a grudging respect for the arse as they play good football.
  • Johnboy, if you seriously think supporting Tottenham is like a rollercoaster, it's just as well you don't support Charlton or Palace, now that really would be a rollercoaster ride.

But back to the original thread, I like to watch Arsenal as they play the proper way, shame they havn't got a finisher.
  • I dont like Arsenal corprate posh business mans club not about real fans i know so many fans who have been driven out of that club. None of the prem teams really the closest club to me that i dont mind is Welling probably.
  • Ive always had a soft spot for Coventry and if we went under they would be the team that i would support.

I've never really hated any other team. Chelsea i don't really like because they've bought their way to glory.
  • Arsenal is the best of a bad lot for me. My sister loves them, and although they are staid and corporate, and their fans whine as much as their manager, they do play good football, and I can always find a player or two that I like to watch.

Noteworthy that no-one else has said Toronto FC as yet. Juan Pablo Angel beat us 3-0 yesterday (although another NY player also scored), but I have to follow the closest club of any substance. Can agree with vancouveraddick's reference to the Whitecaps. Always liked them from back when I was a kid watching the NASL...
