Awww, Ketters that's a real shame.
But never mind - nothing ventured, nothing gained. Now onto the watercooler instead of the tea room....

I bet Office Bird has been on Charlton Life all afternoon following this thread.

If I haven't been able to get any work done, I don't suppose she has either.
Bet she's not even had time to reply to Ketters' email or get herself a cup of tea.

Kets, 90% of women would rather go for the naughty man with a dodgy character than for a nice guy ready to help with the washing, the ironing and the kids.
Your hesitations and E-mail depicts you as a shy, good natured bloke, an image which does not seem very attractive to them nowadays. And how do you
expect us to correctly evaluate your personality and give you some decent advice when we still don't know what happened 4 years ago with the stalker/3 kids etc..
and, most importantly, what did YOU do.

She probably already knows you're an Addick .....and her Millwall Dad has told her not to mess around with trainspotters.
You might have to dump the anorak and thick glasses, mate.

Just trying to be helpful, you know.
  • Moral of the story: next time you're in this situation, don't hesitate and ask them face to face.

At least then you'll have conclusive proof and will be in no doubt that you have been rejected....

Bollocks! Women like good looking, interesting blokes - the nice ones get snapped up really quickly, which means there are more dodgy ones that fit that description in circulation, and they get away with it because it's not usually readily apparent that they are dodgy. If you're not good looking and interesting, then being nice may get you some extra brownie points but it's not going to suddenly turn you into an Adonis, and nor will being dodgy.

i think Ali should write a regular advice column for all us blokes. ''Ask Ali''

First time she met me she made a cardie joke so not sure which catagory that puts me in. : - )

Ketman, better to regret what you've done that what you didn't.

Ali, I haven't mentioned good looks because it distorts the statistics. To simplify, women prefer 'naughty' to nice, 'confident' and 'assertive' to shy.

Well you don't need to waste any of your precious time sweet talking to her now!

Still, at least it won't be REALLY awkward next time you bump into her.......

(for what it's worth I reckon it's not over.....yes means no and no means yes if you know what I mean! Perseverance my friend - don't you dare give up straight away)

    Good idea, Henry!

    Dear Ali,
I'm not as young as I used to be, but the engine is still a decent runner.

I've also noticed that most attractive women are, how shall we say, erm ..... a bit younger than me.
How do I find a woman with the brains, maturity and experience of a 45 year old, but with the body of a
    25 year old?

    Please help.

    Yours sincerely,
    Confused of Cornwall.

I was reading this during a particularly boring afternoon's work and it is pure CL quality (I ended up going back to previous Ketman posts on the same subject).

What can I say.....Ketman you are a legend, keep doing what you do. Well done on having the nuts to give it a go - I really do believe that there is nothing worse than not going for it and then wondering 'what if' for the rest of your life. I hope that this goes how you want it to, but I am sure that if it doesn't, there will be plenty others queueing up because you are a diamond!

Oh, and please put us all out of our misery and tell us how it ended with the pub bird!

    Best of British to ya.

P.S I won't give you any advice myself, because that would be like BP giving advice on the best way to avoid an environmental/PR disaster....
  • just wanted to let you know that the Chinese nation is now awakening....

there is a heavy expectation of news from ketmanland

...and.... what did happen with the other bird with 3 kids and a stalker?
