I think it’s all rubbish. I believe that Cardiff might want him but that it’s rubbish he’s going to leave. He’d be the most hated man in Charlton history.

Look he'd be stupid to go, but if he does, whatever, it will be career suicide for a man who's already been labelled by many in the game as a nutcase who can't manage above this level. Unless he manages to take all the backroom staff with him, including the good doctor, Fleming and Chappie, which is incredibly unlikely, then I am confident that we'll find a suitable replacement, maybe one that doesn't get hung up so much on what was said about him 7 months ago when we were fucking shit.
As a Charlton supporter who lives in Cardiff I would seriously question the assertion that Cardiff is a bigger club than Charlton. There have spent a total of 2 years in the Premier League, being relegated twice at the first opportunity. In total, we have spent longer and have been more successful in the top division. Unlike us they have also spent time at the fourth level .
Like us, their main claim to glory is that they have once won the FA Cup, in their case as long ago as 1927.
There ground is modern and holds about 33,000. Their average crowd last season was just over 19,000 in the Championship, about 1000 mote than us in League One. I suspect that had we started the season anywhere near the top end of the league our average attendance would have exceeded theirs.
The unknown thing here is Jones himself, and the relationship with our owners and board. They showed faith in him when under some pressure from the our crowd when things got wobbly in the autumn and early winter. He is a Cardiff man and clearly a patriotic Welshman. However he is no longer a young man and we will start next season ahead of Cardiff. There is also the suspicion the Vincent Tan can be a difficult owner. The deciding factor could be if he feels our board will back him.
My guess is their fans are putting 2+2 together and getting 5. They’ve seen what a great job he’s done here so why wouldn’t they want him? In reality he’d be taking a backwards step. He didn’t go mid season when we were in bad form so why would he go now when we’ve just been promoted?
I'm not ruling it out, regardless of how illogical it might seem. Heart over head. Not everyday the opportunity to manage the club you support comes along, and it might not again. I'm just hoping he's not their prime target, but they're taking ages to make a new managerial appointment, which did make me wonder if they were waiting for our season to end before coming in for him.

He seems to love the glory when we're winning but can't take any criticism when we're terrible.

I can’t see it happening. But surely as football fans we can’t really hate someone too much for going to manage the club they support? Something we’d probably all do in the same position. It would be very frustrating yes but he has also just delivered us a promotion that we desperately needed
One thing we can be certain about. This will resolve quite quickly one way or another. Neither club can hang around with the season already looming. Charlton won’t let it drag on as we would need to find a replacement in very little time. Still think it’s nonsense though.
After watching 5 years of league 1 football not sure even being a boyhood fan of any club would convince me to drop back into that division. Unless their owner is going to buy the division like Ipswich/Birmingham then I wouldn’t understand the risk.
Cardiff last four league seasons in championship; 18th, 21st, 12th & 24th. Not sure I see the appeal whatsoever.
Zero chance he goes there now. People worrying over nothing based off some words in an old interview.
I think the concern comes from that tweet from a journalist that @Braziliance posted
The tweet that makes no mention of Jones whatsoever? Righto.
The same journalist that made the article liked a post in response to his orginal tweet saying it screamed of Cardiff going in for Nathan Jones he’s basically indirectly said it’s him they’re looking at

It isn't just that. It's the timing of the tweet with members of their message boards saying that Cardiff have definitely been in contact with Jones. Seems like there's a bit of smoke, especially with their journo hinting it would be a manager that a lot of the fan base would be happy with, but there are complexities. All their other candidates seem to be unemployed, so I don't see how the likes of Buckingham, Evatt etc could be complex.
End of the day, it's a speculation thread. If he goes, he goes. We will move on.
Could have seen it back in September when they sacked Bulot, although whether Jones's stock was too low for them to consider it I'm not sure.
But not now we've gone up and they've gone down - a step down, think Tan will be cutting costs and not paying compensation, and Jones is building something here.
Frankly if he starts well for us next season he could do better than Cardiff.

Why ? We get someone new … and that’s Lyle Taylor !!
Go put a grand on Buckingham to be the next Manager and watch the odds drop like crazy
You'll never find a poor bookie...
True
But you have to have a reason to put a grand on Buckingham in the first place right? I mean you ain't just throwing a grand away for no reason
For NJ to go into 7/4 are Cardiff fans just putting money on him in hope rather than expectation or do they genuinely believe he is the guy they are after

Said by many after losing to Crawley at home.
Cardiff City have spent 17 seasons in the top flight. Highest finish being 2nd.
Cardiff City’s historic average attendance is 15,626. Charlton’s historic average attendance is 15,360.

Which the journalist teasingly plays off rather than offering a flat out "No"
Could be read in two ways; (1) He cant confirm, because its true and cant say (2) He wont confirm because he wants the attention

Plymouth reckon he’s in the running there as well.

Or was it the other way around
