It's a tricky one because I can see both sides of the argument, I can see the argument " we've brought in champ experience in Karlan we don't need to go and get another striker now". Equally I can see a world where DK goes , Godden , Mbick and Leaburn have injury records to take into account and maybe we do add someone else. Will be interesting to see ultimately how it shapes out. I'm not as convinced as I was pre Grant signing that we're going to spend another fee similar to Kelman on a central striker now , I think ultimately that'll be a winger if the 4231 switch is genuine.

Yes i think the most likely scenario is that Kanu is loaned out again and then we sign one more.

Kanu won’t be loaned out without signing a deal. If Kelman is injured for a while I can see Kanu sticking around

My son dislocated his shoulder in a rugby match at Christmas, was popped straight back in by the physios on the pitch but he still had 3 months of rehab to do to get the movement and strength back to where it should be. He then wore a shoulder brace till the end of the season. Would imagine it’ll be a couple of months recovery for Kelman even without any major damage or surgery.

Could have sworn I posted on here at the weekend that a dislocated shoulder - even if popped back at the time and not requiring surgery - takes a couple of months’ recovery.

We won’t see Kelman till mid September in the optimistic scenario, which is a real shame. Need Godden back at his best in the meantime.

Regrettable as it took him an absolute age to get fit last season

I see Grant as an option for the 3 (out wide) behind the 1 in a 4231. Or one of the wide in a 433.

Think Leaburn and Godden can play the 1 role and maybe even Mbick. Kelman did it at Orient….. could see Dykes coming back.

Would be ok at that if we then threw all the budget at buying a proper (by our standards) top notch CM and another winger

Grant is going to be used as a winger.  Leaburn struggled to score the last couple of years.  Godden is in his mid 30s and only averaged 6 goals a season in the championship when he was younger. Kelman and Mbick are injured.  Kanu has only succeeded at the L2 level.  We absolutely need a forward but will need to offload probably to make that happen from a budget perspective.

We will not buy another striker unless we suffer another significant injury before the window closes. If we have anything left in the kitty (doubtful) we might just take a loanee as a punt.

Starting attack will be Grant, Leaburn, Campbell, with Godden, Kanu and Fullah on the bench. Kelman will not be missed and, if all goes well, will be sold during the winter window. There will always be sides desperate for goals to avoid relegation or to compete for promotion who will take a chance based on his scoring for Orient. By then, I hope Mbick will be back and competing for a starting role. If so, we could then sell Kanu as well.

I’ll bow to the stats if you’ve got them but he was much better for us up front in a 2 or on his own .

Of course, we will miss Kelman, and selling him in January is ridiculous idea.

I remember having a fight down Sega Zone in Woolwich High Street. I dislocated my shoulder clocking some melt with the Time Bandits gun. Popped it back in off the Shinobi machine and killed eight blokes.

Charlie will be back in no time.
