I'm totally staggered that The Met had 295 officers on duty....where were they? Doing what the Met does best sitting in White vans or standing in large groups being ineffective.
Sadly no one in authority wants to hold their hands up and say they got it wrong, this is across the wider society from the very top down. However the club showed contempt with their lack of response and survey. Its easy to communicate the good times but when they're are genuine concerns from the fan base, please don't cynically ignore them & try & fob off the fans with a half baked survey but get on the front foot and communicate to the fan base. Thats all we ask and that this doesn't happen again.
Airman - Rick, my father used to love reading VOTV arriving in the post firstly in Devon then when he lived in Bath, phoning me often saying have you read what Rick wrote. He never meet you but he held you in the highest regard. VOTV was and is the very best of football fanzines. COYA's
And neither the safety officer or the police gold commander in the control room thought it was worth deploying a few at the bartram entrance at the end of the game?
Incredible.
unbelievable, its a wider MET police problem, officers aren't deployed to prevent but to react tearing around London in unmarked cars and white vans. I was in Brixton last night groups not just youth but elders openly smoking crack or whatever and dealing no coppers around. This was at 6pm before cinema and after having a meal in electric avenue, felt lawless and not very safe.
Try this one next time you do a journey in London see how many officers you see on the streets. I have done countless journeys Spot The Officer Patrolling on the Street, guess what theyre rarer than a rhino or snow leopard......just usual 3 police cars & officers around a stopped car or a youth. They however appear in large numbers well in white vans or clustered together chatting at rallies, football matches, Notting Hill carnival, state occassions.....earning overtime!
A slight diversion, but agree Goldfinger in the Control Centre had all the "tools" sorry officers to police this match, keep Millwall behind and deploy officers behind the JS to prevent Millwall forcing the gate and attacking fans, but neglected to do this. Wall of silence from MET & Club continues......3 -

There was a Millwall fan on 5live yesterday morning gloating over the fact that they played 2 local derbies away in a week, and in both of them the home fans were held back.2

No reply to my email yet - except the one that says they usually get back within one working day. Hopefully they’re inundated with emails. More than after the Watford game anyway.3

im not sure why the met didn’t have that idea.3 -

"We are millwall, super millwall, we hold home fans back...."1

Watching the spanners v Watford game and seeing a healthy police presence in the ground for a relatively low key game.
Watford have got the lower tier as well. I wonder if we'll get that.1 -
2 very poor teams0

Half empty as well2

More than half empty!!0

I'm keeping an eye on it whilst chomping away at the remainder of Saturday's "lucky" wine gums in the hope they might trigger some decent forays & at least one goal for the away lads .2
-
I'm still try to fathom what 295 police were doing at our fix (VOTV) once you take away 30-40 hanging around the station, a small cavalry of police horses, a few chatting by the control box with the gold commander or whatever he is called upstairs in the box asleep.....but that leaves 200+ police doing what? parked up in white vans on their phones working out their overtime?
If watford can have downstairs in the away end at The Den, why can't we be given the whole away end for the return fixture? If police are inside The Den, then surely there is no excuse for Millwall not to give us more seats for the return fixture. The police will keep us in there for an hour anyway....
I remember old Den when you could park up inside the Away End, them were the days and drive home. I'm more than happy to wait patiently and get escorted onto a train but expect next time we play Millwall at home that they get similer treatment a lenghly wait in the Valley after the match

Is it that they genuinely think there was no issue with anything that happened?
Is it that they're in the process of reviewing and putting together a more detailed response?
Is it that they just can't handle "bad news" and have chosen to put their head in the sand?
Or is it that they just dont care?
The longer the silence the bigger the issue for me. Anyone can make a call that is proven to be questionable, at best. If that happens you hold your hands up and apologise for any inconvenience, and explain why you did what you did if need be.
But ignoring your customer/fan base is never a good thing.25 -
I think we already know the answer
