They were terrible make no mistakes we looked lightweight offensively again in years gone by we lose or draw this sort of shitfest we watched today. Our skipper has a big heart but his touch is even bigger we dug in rode our luck and for the last ten finally went for it. A great result but we’re gonna need to offer a little more to survive this season.
At the game, bloody fantastic, the emotion in the away end when we scored was something to behold. I was battered from left and right, everyone was leaping around with the enjoyment of the moment. Enjoyed some of the chants at the ground today. As you know, they also have a player called Tyreese Campbell ( notice the slight spelling difference) When he was on the ball, the Charlton faithful started singing, ' You're just a shit Tyreece Campbell, shit Tyreece Campbell.........' The other one I enjoyed, rather childishly, was when Wilder came onto the pitch after the final whistle, and our fans started chanting ' Sacked in the morning, you'll be sacked in the morning....etc' A perfect awayday performance, strong defensively, was impressed with Burkes performance, Bree had a few sloppy moments in the first half, but grew into the game and came on strong in the second half. Nathan's game changers came on and applied the pressure on their back line for the last ten minutes, resulting in the goal. To cap it all I ended up on the train to Manchester with Steve Brown and Gavin Carter. They were off to Dumfries for the RSK AGM, on Monday, giving a presentation about how the sponsorship is going. Steve Brown had organised the trains, using trainline, but their were gaps in trainlines information about the three changes they needed to make. Using Realtimetrains, I was at least able to point them to the right train and platform at Manchester, hope they got to Dumfries OK. Call us trainspotters! I've never met either of them before, Steve Brown was such a lovely fella, and he thanked me for sorting out the train connection at Manchester. Gavin Carter was also engaging, and asked me why I was a season ticket holder, living in Manchester. I now officially love Steve Brown, and Gavin Carter looks like a steady hand at the wheel. Only downside, they were drinking Budweiser on the train! Shame on them!! What about some decent English beer.
Steve Brown left to organise the trains
Joking aside, that's surely not something he should be doing?
I think if the rest of us can manage it, he can as well.

I agree totally.
The optimist in me says that Jones has had a game plan since he took over and look where we are now. The pessimist in me says that IF the defence starts to leak goals then possibly upfront we're not going to be scoring enough goals and we're in the brown stuff.
I think we'll end up bottom six but after 15 games I think things will be a lot clearer, I use that as a barometer.
So glad we strengthened the defence the way we did in the summer.
If Jones can work out how to tweak our formation so that we can create more chances then who knows what's to come.
Safe trip home Addicks.

I don't think it's creating chances that's the problem, I've only seen the sky highlights but Kelman clean through has to at least hit the target & just after, Campbell makes a good break, Charlton player totally unmarked in the box he seems to look up early but then drives forward cuts outside & hits a weak shot miles wide. Defensively we're upper championship (despite having a goalie that sets up shots for the opponents), midfield is decent but upfront we're definitely 3rd Division. I've said it before, we should of bought an experienced Championship striker. Ok it's not my money but the people who bought the club are apparently billionaires, a few million extra on a championship striker which could be the difference between 2nd or 3rd Division football next season is nothing to them & is a route we should have gone down.
It would be interesting if we paired Kelman and Olaofe for a few games, we do need to start scoring more goals. I realise this may mean a different style of play by Jones.
With a much more solid back 5 with the addittion of a proper rwb in bree and Burke fit for competition across the back in can see us having a classic 532/352 with 2 up top. Which would be mental as apter would miss out starting game who has prob been our brightest spark. But I'd like to see him come on for any of the middle 3 running at tiring legs as a finisher.
So glad we won today. Our performances have been better than our points total so nice to see us 2 points off the playoffs, even if it means very little at this stage of the season.
I was driving from Dijon to Lille with Talk sport commentary on, and they were v impressed with Burke and Jones (the latter is no surprise). Has our superb defence got even better?
Well done NJ. His appointment has been unbelievable for Charlton.
Was in the Tony Currie lounge and in the padded seats in the middle of their end. Had to make a swift exit 30 seconds after we scored the winner, went bananas. Yorkshire folk were not happy.
I know you get what you deserve but in all honesty a point against Leicester and three against Millwall would not have been unjust. We do though need to find a few more goals from somewhere.
I know we weren't our best against QPR but I think we still deserved a point IMO and a useless ref should have sent one of their players off at 1-1. What is different about this division is that you get less moments and you have to have them go for you. The refs are just as poor although last week's one was OK.
The way I see it, we have been in every game and deserve more points but I have been of the mind that we keep going and it will come our way. And today was an example of that. A useless ref cost us 3 points at QPR and a good one cost us 2 points last week. Another useless one this week but that didn't cost us. We are not pretty but you can see we are horrible to play against. That hasn't changed from last season.
I thought the ref was OK today. I had a big problem with the linos more than once, but it seems like they just don't think they can proactively flag fouls any more.

What was the view of the natives before the game about Wilder coming back?

Most expected a comfortable win, myself included when he came to our table pre match and asked for my thoughts. I thought they’d come out firing in the first 10/15.
I'm pretty sure we have played 3-4-2-1 in every Champ game this season, but a proper No 9 (Leaburn) has only started once. That has to change.
The only games we've got points from is when Kelman / Campbell have started... Why change that? - It might not be working in front of goal for them, but the approach that Jones is using, clearly seems to benefit the team as a whole at present.
Absolutely no need to complicate matters, just because we all think we're smarter.

Yet people were raging at Millwall fans in the boxes last week
I think when Bree and Edwards are the wing backs we should play a proper 2 up front. When Apter is your wing back, we often shift to a back 4 and then, TC playing as a winger/striker works.
Nathan Jones sets the team up to win 1-0 - it happened a fair amount last year not least in the play off semi and the final So long as he sticks to his system we aren’t going to suddenly start scoring loads of goals whether we are playing Kelman or Harry Kane up front.
If Ramsey hadn’t got himself sent off this would have been our 3rd 1-0 I think the gloom about this is a bit overdone i think we will win quite a few with this score and that will be enough for a mid table finish

He sets up the team to not concede - that doesn’t mean he sets us up to score 1…
If you've questioned whether we have the players, the resources, the ambition & the following to keep our hard fought place in the Championship for another season...
...then as the young'uns are wont to say " Give your 'ead a wobble! "
THIS squad , THIS manager, THIS Board, THESE Fans are what we've awaited for so long.
The energy expended by our lads, the sheer bl**dy mindness attitude of getting in the face of the opposition, the fantastic team spirit & the passion ( who doesn't like a bit of that ? ) mirror our very special manager.
How can this be anything less than a recipe for success ?
Believe. Keep the faith. Be an integral part of this exciting chapter in the history of our great club.

You're absolutely right.
It's not your money.

But football isn't everything you know.
I missed it.

Actually, football is everything
Unless it was Andy Scott of course.
