This made me giggle but it's so true. It'll be someone that's got the physical presence to win battles in the middle. I'd wonder what's wrong with him if he signed some European Oztumer sized No10.

I'm with AFKA here. I understand that "if" we operate within our budget, which is deemed bottom 3, then the players we are looking at make sense. What I don't understand is "why" we have that budget. I mean what is the point? It just seems a really odd strategy to get promoted, then put the absolute minimum in needed to be competitive, and hope that's enough, with a genuine risk that we get relegated and have to start again.

I agree that spending is no guarantee of success, but not spending is a pretty sure fire way of not succeeding.

We gave ourselves the best chance by starting really well, but the lack of depth and injuries have shown we just don't have the quality to survive, unless we are proactive and get ahead of it. We shouldn't be sitting at the end of Jan wondering whether we are "lucky" enough to sign Conor Coady. It's an odd high risk strategy.
It may be that that is the budget to avoid going over the FFP rules, and it's breaking them that has got lots of clubs into trouble leading to points deductions.
    But not Leicester, YET.
I was googling yesterday when any points deductions would happen & it seems an announcement is due within the next week or so. Seems it could be anywhere between 6 & 10 points.

People are begging for creative midfielders etc but we all know this is not Nathan Jones game. He has never been a manager who will be scoring loads. He likes clean sheets and grabbing goals. We saw this last season and it doesn't change. Just gotta believe he's building from the back again.
NJ said post-match against Millwall that they need to look at a midfielder who can control the game.
I imagine he means through physicality and by being an expert at winning second balls, not by being a playmaking genius.
I don't think I heard the exact quote, it was Cawley talking about it in the podcast. That wasn't the idea I got, but might be wrong.

    Let's see eh
How are the clean sheets working for us at the moment?
Actually I meant perhaps we are not just getting defenders in.

Obligatory YouTube compilation making him look like prime Virgil Van Dijk if anyone wants to get over-excited about Sichenje
I think he might be the best player in the world. Conor Coady doesn't need legs if he's playing next to him.

I’ve said it earlier in the thread but it seems people are discounting the possibility we’ll sell Lloyd.

Not sure we need 2 right footed Centre Backs
Agreed, I've always wanted them to have a right and a left foot ideally

Sichenje has 15 bookings and 3 reds in just over a season. The man isn't lacking any fight - but might be out with suspensions as much as others are out with injuries  :D

Genuine question, and I may be grasping at straws, but did Coady play for Wrexham in a back three or a back four?
Back 3 and by all accounts wasn't very good in a back 3 by all accounts that's why we're signing him. More square pegs in round holes! 😂

We don't? We also don't know how good this guy is, but hes only 22 and I quite like the idea of trying to improve our squad rather than signing backups for players we already have.

    Crazy concept I know.
Just think a left sided centre back, a left wing back and a central midfield are more pivotal

No need to throw your toys out the pram

Why on earth would we sell him? What possible reason could there be that we'd sell our best player?
Just something I’d heard was a possibility and something he’s apparently open too. Fingers crossed the defensive moves are just to support him rather than replace him.

If we sell Llyod Jones, the whole club can do one. Would be the worse possible thing we could do this transfer window. That is some straight up Roland shit to do

He isn’t really a hugely sellable asset due to age, relative lack of experience at this level and injury record. We’d probably get less for him than Brighton offered us for Mbick. He is incredibly valuable to us but not as valuable to other teams

I think he’s more valuable to others than you suggest here. Plenty of promotion challenging teams would like him in their squad.

That may be the case but he wouldn't command a large fee so I don't think we'd sell

Just someone I know and I know I’m far from the only person on here who’s heard the same. Like I say I hope it’s off the mark.

All I've heard about Lloyd is that he shouldn't have really played at the weekend, and made the injury worse

Which would make sense and explain the Coady signing

I can’t see who would sign Lloyd. Won’t have any resale value and whilst being an incredible combative defender isn’t always the best on the ball. Lacks a yard of pace too.

Maybe a Derby type side could come in for him, but I’d be surprised.

(This is my way of coping)

Nowhere. He apparently can’t grasp the concept of adding defensive depth

Not a chance in hell we sell Lloyd Jones
