The 2nd half we were atrocious. Couldn’t keep possession. Kept passing the ball away. Our midfield was very weak. I just don’t get what Coventry gives us. Maybe I’m missing it. Anyway, a point is a point. I believe we’ll stay up but when I see performances like that 2nd half I do wonder.3

I've an idea; why not change formation and stop putting square plugs in round holes? TC is not a LWB.Garrymanilow said:Disappointing not to hold out for the win given we were 2-0 up but at this point we're holding out until we get some reinforcements in. We need a LWB so badly. Can't risk Bell there, don't have anyone else at the moment. It wastes TC and it leaves us in trouble especially when Burke got injured. I do think it would have been better to bring Gough on and not leave our left side so exposed. Gillesphey just isn't at it unless there's plenty of protection around him. I think there's some overreactions on here though coming from how tepid we were second half and our lead, we needed to not lose this. It's a problem as well that both Burke and Ramsay are injury-prone and playing in the same spot. If you can say anything for Gillesphey it's that he's available. We need players in, that's the fact of it. A LWB is essential, another option in midfield and I'd like a pacy winger/striker more than a target man like Dykes. On the positive front, good to see Kelman doing what he was brought in to do5 -
Looked like he did well for our first goal to get that attack started - that’s where he should be playing, not practically at left back.Charlton1905 said:

Blackburn fans has it right. "2-0 down and you fucked it up", "how shit must you be, we're drawing 2-2."
Kaminski made one good save I think, but looked weak for the goal(s). Bree absolutely toilet at set pieces. Bell moving over left us seriously unbalanced (though he did have some slick moves) and took an age for his throws when I thought we were going for it (as did Bree, who got booked for his trouble).TC needed coaching for defensive positioning throughout (unsurprisingly) - surely that doesn't help defensive focus for the others, especially Macca who ended up closest to him (the less said about Macca the better). Don't think TC won a single defensive battle all game. I did enjoy watching him and their 12 go at it all game further up the pitch though.
Coventry looked a shadow of his former self, too slow to break up play and misplacing passes. Berry got into good positions then messed up. JRC anonymous. Carey failing to pass forward was worrying and looked like all he could do was foul to stop breakaways a couple of times. Knibbs offered nothing but didn't have much time anyway. Doc put himself about a bit and was the more impressive of the subs.
Kelman I thought has been looking better since his return, two goals to help boost that confidence, but beyond that was pretty anonymous. Leaburn won nearly everything and showed nice touches and control. A real shame he went off, hope it's nothing serious. Tants showed good running but no end product.
All in all just really disappointing, but at least we're no worse off than before the match in relation to the drop zone.3 -

Thought we were pretty decent at Hull mate. Only a silly mistake by Gillesphey cost us the goal.AFKABartram said:Start of the season we had Bristol City, Sheff U and Ipswich where we grew into a game and were better 2nd half. We had a little bit of a rally against Pompey, but I can’t think of a single other away game since those early ones we’ve put a decent performance in 2nd half. Too many like Wrexham, Norwich and today have seen us well short 2nd half4 -
That will be at the same ground which has a ‘flat atmosphere’ (according to some) ! 😳😆philcafc said:I'll try and be a bit more optimistic than some on here.:-
We didn't lose to a relegation rival.
Norwich & Swansea both lost.
We have 12 of the last 21 games at home2 -
Regarding Bell, I think the good stuff he does outweighs any errors by some way, he is pivotal to our defensive capabilities, and missed so much when not in the team. The Red Robin said:Campbell is being played out of position but he has to do a lot better for both goals, especially the second. That said, I think Bell should stop the cross for the first goal. Also thought Bell was partly to blame for both Pompey goals too but he seems immune to criticism sometimes.6 -

Management team to blame down to 10 men when the goal went in why?0

Pretty even game at Hull but we played well in parts. Macca cost us the goal there. Again.Chippycafc said:

At some point we have to start a game Ona different formation, wingbacks have been our downfall for the last 10 games3

Separately scum with a stoppage time winner and Pompey being let off the hook of what looked like a banker away win and rearranged game will probably now fall under completely different circumstances, very annoying1

Didn't watch it but followed it all on here.
When the sub was made after Burke went off nearly everyone on here drew breath when it appeared that we were going to have Gillesphey and TC together on the left side.
We all know it doesn't and cannot work. There were other options like leaving Bell and TC in place on the left.
I made the comment on the match thread that "in Jones we trust" and will go on doing so as he has done a great job - BUT - he doesn't half make some strange choices sometimes!?
2 valuable and winnable points dropped against another poor and depleted relegation rival!2 -
I think Leaburn had gone off and the substitute wasn't ready.cazo said:Management team to blame down to 10 men when the goal went in why?2 -
Looking at the Fotmob stats player ratings, 9 of the top 10 were Blackburn players, Kelman the only Charlton one scoring above 7.2

It’s bound to as we’re unlikely to be 10 points clear with 3 games left.Laddick01 said:

Also, sorry haven't read the whole thing yet, but what was with the shrugs NJ gave to the away end at FT? It looked remarkably like a "a points a point" not particularly fussed gesture, which is really unlike him? Not seen the post match interview yet either but if he says the performance was excellent/outstanding again then I must be blind...0

I don’t know to be honest, I just seem to remember seeing him there with his energy packet, didn’t help much did it? Couldn’t have sat right!!😂Miserableoldgit said:

It's pleasing that someone has said it how it is.sirjohnhumphrey said:I’ve said it previously and I’ll say it again - although I get that it’s a simplistic and relatively unemotive position to take.
We are a bottom six team/squad/club in this league. More realistically bottom three. This is mainly due to the quality and depth of our squad. How many of them would start for a top half team in this division?Jones and Ramsay maybe?
Edwards when fit?
Bell, perhaps at a push.
None of the others would. Not Kelman, not Leaburn, not Knibbs, not Carey, not Bree, not Berry, not Coventry, not Docherty, not JRC…
It’s a squad that would probably be top 6 in league one. It relies on the sum of its parts rather than individuals. It’s made up of free transfers, experienced yet older players, and signings from league one. Plus some that have come through the youth set up.
This will show on the pitch in terms of decision making, moments of quality, game management etc.
A glut of injuries like we’ve just experienced will challenge us. We haven’t got players worth 5 million plus on our bench. We have Fullah, Anderson etc.
And dropping points against teams around us is hugely frustrating - if we get home wins against Pompey and Norwich and get something away at Oxford then our record against them will be ok (plus the four points we’ve taken off Blackburn)
A long way to go with it all in our own hands given the number of home games we have. And hopefully annoying days like today will be tempered by some surprise gained points against those above us.3 -

We wait years to get a top 6 Prem side at home in the FA Cup & then you want to play the U21's just si we can rest a few players.ForeverAddickted said:
Play a similar side to the one that lost at Cambridge!! - Give as many of the first teamers a rest.MrBurns said:Please don't play Bell against Chelsea and give him a rest. We really can't afford to lose him to injury too
Bonkers.
I've paid £32 to watch the match....I want to see us put up a spirited attempt to win the match.15 -
We will when it's a proper must win game. So maybe the last 3 games of the season perhaps.ShootersHillGuru said:We definitely need to start picking up a win here and there.1 -
if thats the case, whoever the sub is that wasn't ready should be fined and dropped - absolutely does my nut in when you see players trying to find their top or their shin pads - you've got 1 job when on the bench - to be ready!!!! My guess is its actually they wanted time to give instructions to who came on - equally drives me nuts - just get the fucker on the pitch !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Miserableoldgit said:

Not many played well but thought TC, Coventry and Gillesphey were particularly bad.
2 points dropped against a pretty shite team. Cantwell provides them quality that we really do need in the middle.
Leaburn played really well and well done Kelman getting a brace but it wasnt a good performance.1 -
