Pompey just lost V Derby. They looked quite good but poor in the final 3rd. Still got a game in hand. Have to think they will survive?0

I think we will lose 3 or 4 more games but not more than that.
We are in a decent veign of form - we are grinding out points.
I think we will be comfortably safe.

With ultra negative glasses, we will draw at home to Bristol City, PNE and Hull. Then a draw away to Sheffield W. That gives us 4 points and takes us to 52, which is enough.
If just one of those games turns into a win (51 points), it's even easier. Just need one draw of the other three games listed above.
And I've still accounted for us to lose all four games vs Norwich and Ipswich at home + Watford and Swansea away.0 -
I disagree. Apart from the spell in November/early December when we lost 5 on the spin we've consistently picked up points and ticked along nicely. If you take any block of games (5/10/15/20 etc) in the form table we're not even close to the bottom 3.CharltonManor1966 said:

Exactly our worse spell this season from 8 games is 4 points. That coincided with playing the best 3 teams in the league at the time, 2 playoff challenging teams, and the most inform team in the league at the time. Whilst also having a defensive injury crisis.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

And of our 8 remaining games 5 are at home we’re going to be fine10 -

I think ours is probably fairly similar to Portsmouth and Oxford but perhaps slightly less. Windass, Bannan, Cadamateri, Gassama, Famewo, Michael Smith, Wilks. I'm sure there are others too.
Plus they also lost a couple of promising kids to Chelsea and Man City.2 -
Just checked Chicago Addicks notes from the original fans meeting and it is overall player budget that is 3rd worst, not just wages. While initial transfer fees in the summer looked impressive, they are split over the duration of the contracts. It would also indicate our wages must be pretty low to accommodate those fees and still have the 3rd worst budget.

The amortisation? It's standard practice for that reason, of course it just means your losses are spread over the three years. With 38 games played, the team in 21st are on 40pts and in 22nd on 39pts.
This time last year, the team in 21st were on 39pts and in 22nd on 38pts. The season ended with Luton getting relegated on 49pts.
The season before, teams in 21st and 22nd both had 39pts. The season ended with Birmingham getting relegated on 50pts.
51 will probably see us safe but wouldn’t be comfortable at all. Ideally we’re into the mid 50s points wise as soon as possible.8 -

Good that only 1 of the bottom 4 (Leicester) gained on us, at that was only by a point.
It seems its now WBA's turn to win a couple of games & move out of the relegation zone, after both Pompey & Oxford did it in recent weeks - although those 2 both lost today thus stalling their escape plans.
Must be Leicester's turn next. Hopefully by then we will be safe, but after today I will start getting worried if we haven't won another game by the time we come to play Sheff Wed.
I'll be happy when we get to 52 points. Ecstatic when we reach 54.2 -
