Their best XI also currently consistents of a 33,34,35 year old in their back 4 and Connor Mcgrandles in midfield. Willing to put life savings on them finishing in the bottom 3NabySarr said:
Lincoln are coming up and we will definitely have a much bigger budget than them. Be nice if Oxford could stay up but I think they’ll go downshine166 said:
If it’s not at least the 21st best budget, it means we've been over taken by those getting promoted in the summer. Would be nice if Stevenage manage to get promoted, they are already punching considering the size of the club.Crispywood said:
Said we wanted to get to a midtable (12th) budget over the next 2-3 years. Even if our budget was to increase let’s say 22nd->17th.Callumcafc said:
The plan, as described by Gavin Carter, is to gradually increase the wage budget season over season as we establish ourselves at the level. I would hope that includes competitive contract offers for our most talented players as they are deserved.Crispywood said:
We’re currently on 2nd-3rd lowest wage bill in the league there’s going to be so many clubs in this division alone that could offer him a better deal. Maybe the Sichenje signing was planning for his inevitable exitRedhenry said:
I would be surprised if Ramsay got a better offer from a club other than us...AberystwythAddick said:Could some spanner’s be put in the works if we get offers for Ramsay and Jones. We might have to rebuild the defence?
I would be very concerned for our future prospects over the coming couple of seasons if we’ll stick to having a bottom three budget.Theres still gonna be a lot of clubs who would be able to offer more for our best players in regards to wage bill just depends if anyone wants to pay what Ramsay is worth fee wise2 -
We know Ronnie has donated 18 mill to the fund...😉Sword65pf said:4 -
That’s assuming they don’t upgrade at any of those positions. Historically newly promoted clubs use some of the increased revenue to have higher than average transfer fees in year one. Also historically, newly promoted sides have done a decent job of staying up in year one . Now year two and three are different story. Lincoln always appear to me to be a well organized side that makes smart personnel decisions. I am not a bettor but I wouldn’t bet on them being relegatedCrispywood said:

Lincoln, Oxford in the Championship next year with whoever comes up from L1 via the playoffs and I think we’d be much more comfortable avoiding 2nd season championship syndromeNabySarr said:

Lincoln’s budget is bottom half of league 1. Their promotion is an incredible achievement and based on brilliant long term planing and recruitment. I think the step up will be too much for them though, and could also see a championship team stealing Skubala this summer which would make things almost impossible for themBostonaddick said:

Lincoln will struggle with the step up you would think but have for some years now had stunning recruitment for a club their size so I wouldn't write them off too quickly.1

I'm not worried about a team with McGrandles and Reeco Hackett in it tbh5

Lincoln's budget will be what causes them the most problems. Great achievement to get promoted but they're not going to have the financial clout to even compete at this level. Cardiff coming up with them who knows? Depends on what mood Vincent Tan is in.0

Can guarantee at least one of them will score against us next year, if we end up playing them!2 -
Really hoping Stevenage manage to fluke a playoff win to make it a weak 3 coming upMarcusH26 said:Lincoln's budget will be what causes them the most problems. It's still possible so not discounting anything.3

The gulf between league one and the Championship is massive. The 3 that come up are going to be in big trouble.MarcusH26 said:Lincoln's budget will be what causes them the most problems. If spurs go down and Stevenage go up, sky will call it the a1 derby 😡😡😡😡7

None of the prospective promotional teams strike me as being willing/able to really throw money around in the style of Birmingham/Hollywood FC and while one or two might manage to do a Charlton and brutalize their way to survival with safety first football but I'd be surprised if all 3 did.J BLOCK said:

That said you can see some of this season's struggling sides struggling again so it could be interesting at the bottom of the table next year.3 -

Sonny Carey scored 8 last season in League One and has 8 this season in the Championship. I know you know this @Scoham, but just goes to show that raw stats only show you so much about a players potential.Scoham said:
TC scored 7 in L1 last season, Tyrese Shades it having scored 9 in the league so far this season.Ferryman said:
More end product in League One? Because Shade has never played above that level.CH4RLTON said:So I’ve heard from two people now that are not particularly in the know but totally separately that we were one of the teams who had a bid rejected for Tyreese Shade in January and we going to be in running again for the highly rated winger/foward. I have to say he ticks all the boxes of what we are looking for and looks basically like a Tyreese Campbell clone but with more end product.
Doesn’t look like someone who’d improve us based on the stats, but then Burrell at QPR scored 11 for Burton last season yet has 10 for QPR at a higher level so far this season.7 -
Thought I would like to remind everyone that talking of the teams coming up , we are still not assured of our place in the Championship next season !5

Sure, and mathematically Chelsea can still be relegated and Liverpool can still win the Premier League, Coventry can drop out of the top 6 and we can finish level on points with MillwallRuffdiamond said:Thought I would like to remind everyone that talking of the teams coming up , we are still not assured of our place in the Championship next season !

Think we’re 90% safe it would take an incredible run of results plus teams are playing each other .. let’s not forget we not been in bottom 3 all season which in it self is excellent.Ruffdiamond said:Thought I would like to remind everyone that talking of the teams coming up , we are still not assured of our place in the Championship next season !3 -
Opta has us at 99% safe even from an optimistic or pessimistic bias point of view you can’t argue with thatRonnieMoore said:

The chances of of us getting relegated are low but not zero.8

Most bookies seem to have it around 50/1. Not negligible but remote. I'd say it is unlikely to be something anyone at the club has serious concerns about and any plans in place will be on the basis of a Championship position next season.ShootersHillGuru said:The chances of of us getting relegated are low but not zero.1
