This will allow us to loan out Gough this season to get some decent playing time10

Good point about the next step for Gough.
Would like to think any loan would be league one minimum.
Burton Albion?0 -
They are league 2 but the Cowleys said they really like him so Colchester will be interested. Ideally we can find him a league 1 team but it's important not to pitch him too high for a first loan so I think league 2 would be fine. Be interesting if we send him somewhere to play at centre back or if it's central midfieldjose said:Good point about the next step for Gough.

Or Wimbledon with Jacko perhaps? Good experience to play week in week out for a side that will under the cosh.jose said:Good point about the next step for Gough.

I wonder if we'll be looking to offload Zach Mitchell this summer, not really developed like many of us had hoped, through a couple of not so good loan spells2

He will definitely leave, just whether that’s permanent or if we still hold out hope for him then a loanYannTheMann said:I wonder if we'll be looking to offload Zach Mitchell this summer, not really developed like many of us had hoped, through a couple of not so good loan spells0 -
We now have 4 left sided defenders, all solid, so it does look like we'll have that unbalanced wingback system again, with the right wingback being much more attacking than the left wingback.
I wonder if that leaves the door open for Apter to get another chance there?1 -
OK Messrs. Curbishley & Garland, I know in your AI capacity you'll pick up this message even before I've hit the enter button, so..... I'm off to Go Outdoors now to pick up my camping order...... while I'm gone can you crank up your massive bank of Arizona servers and scrape all the data about incomers and outgoers and post the result on here for when I get back. If you also search Google maps you'll know what time I'll be getting back. I thank you.
And if any of you other lot can beat them to it....... wow!!0 -
We don’t have any right wingbacks though , not actual defenders just wingers being shoehorned in.killerandflash said:We now have 4 left sided defenders, all solid, so it does look like we'll have that unbalanced wingback system again, with the right wingback being much more attacking than the left wingback.
I wonder if that leaves the door open for Apter to get another chance there? To me the defence still looks unbalanced.0 -

They had a deal agreed to loan Mwamba, but he got injured. In the same interview Cowley said he really liked Gough, but as he was in our squad he wasn’t availablefenaddick said:

Sounds a good singing, Billy the Kid. Was around that Liverpool said when they had abundance of centre halves and made the bench a few times.0

Yeah. Colchester would be a credible loan.NabySarr said:

I assume with Billy also joining we will be moving to a back 4? I doubt that Mesik/Billy would have joined to be in a three way battle for LCB.1
-
I would far rather our youngsters wen't somewhere they were really wanted in a league lower than somewhere they're considered a risk in a league higher. If they are really flying and considered to be playing above the level then they can always be recalled.0

Or Ramsey being moved to RWB?PugRobin99 said:I assume with Billy also joining we will be moving to a back 4? I doubt that Mesik/Billy would have joined to be in a three way battle for LCB.0 -
Remember Jackson saying he would love to loan Kanu but can’t afford him0

It will also hopefully mean we are not suddenly terrified every time Lloyd Jones goes down injuredPugRobin99 said:I assume with Billy also joining we will be moving to a back 4? I doubt that Mesik/Billy would have joined to be in a three way battle for LCB.5 -

I think it’s unlikely we moved fully to a back 4, I think it’s more likely that Mesik has joined as a wing back option to compete with Edwards and we will return to our 3-5-2/4–2-3-1 hybrid system that worked so well in league 1 and at the start of last seasonPugRobin99 said:I assume with Billy also joining we will be moving to a back 4? Koumetio can probably play the central centre back role as well so can be a Jones backup as well as a LCB
I still think 3 at the back will be the way to go. We want to defend aggressively on the front foot and allow defenders to step out and do that so we need the extra defender available to cover that. You can’t have Jones going for every single header or Sichenje charging out to tackle people if you don’t have that 5 at the back defensive set up to cover it

Probably all these centres backs means LJ off to West Ham14

All two of them and Macca gone. lolCAFCBourne said:Probably all these centres backs means LJ off to West Ham8 -
All one of them (who might be a fullback anyway) plus one strongly linked but not signed yet (who plays on the left not the right and replaces Gillesphey.)CAFCBourne said:Probably all these centres backs means LJ off to West Ham
Yes, definitely that means LJ is off. Definitely.2 -
Six contracted centre backs for three places seems sensible to me? It’s been back to back seasons now that Lloyd has played a significant period through the pain barrier so we need suitable options there - if he had to take any length of time out last season we would have been in big trouble.
Sichenje, Ramsay, Jones, Koumetio, Bell, Mesik is a hopefully strong group.9
