Whatever our intended recruitment plans are we have to move some on to create squad places, ideally soon.

If Holsgrove is holding out for a move to Germany and we may still be in with a shout if that don’t happen closer to the window closing .. do we play the waiting game ..or move on to next name on our list ???
We’ve spent nearly 2 months chasing him, may be a little pathetic but have to ride it out if we think he’s the player to change this team. What we should do though is have somebody locked and loaded if it does go pear shaped.

Ideally would have been good to go in for 2 midfielders get one sorted now and one we can wait a bit longer to bring in
I think that's why we have suddenly brought Chalobah in. Like Grant & McNamara they weren't on our original "hit list".....but as the weeks have gone on we've had to go hunting in the freebie bins.

Freddie Potts is being linked to a move to Belgium. Surely better than our current midfield and a local commute.
We might sign his brother Tin .

Probably end up with the other brother Plant.

Doesn’t really seem that there has been much of a budget this season in comparison to last.

People are just hoping that this is because we’re saving it for a few midfielders.

The longer we go without signing them,
The less likely it is that we’ll get the players we might have originally wanted.
Questions should be answered if we don't show the money to sign what is so evidently needed.

Carter said this to Cawley in May: "We need more up front. We didn’t score enough goals this year and that’s painfully obvious. In the middle of the park we don’t want to rely just on Sonny (Carey)."

So far we have zero new strikers and zero new central midfielders. If the window closes with no real money spent in these key areas, the question is, what's changed?
Carter has also said he hopes our player budget will grow to the size of a mid table Championship side in three years time, so the increase this year, if any, will be modest.

    @Carter is this true?

How much do you think he is going for? £12m above what we can afford

Freebie bins isn’t really a fair reflection though is it.

Alli cost £1.5m, grant was a free. I would bet my house on grants wages being significantly higher than alli’s. My guess without any substance is that grant is on £8k a week more

two defenders that cost a fee, three including CS in Jan. McNamara on a free. I bet McNamara is the highest paid out of those three.

I would start chabolah over any of our current central midfielders any day.

Just because a player is on a free, it doesn’t mean they aren’t worth signing

This conversation about us being relegated for sure is a farce.

We should have been home dry much earlier than we were and now I'm not making excuses there, we didn't get it done and made a rod for our own back with some shocking results but the fact we got ourselves into a position like that with the squad we had was nothing short of amazing.

Quality and depth has absolutely been added as whilst we are playing with a new system, I am confident that we still stay up because this particular system will suit the players we have and that can only be a good thing.

Those saying we will be relegated before a ball has been kicked, have a word with yourselves. No guarantee we won't but we are in a much better position this time round.

I don’t think we’ll be relegated. It only took signing coady, Clarke and dykes to make us into a reasonable championship side. Yes we desperately need a new centre midfield, but the likes of Preston and Blackburn are a bit up shits creek and Lincoln will struggle. Always the potential for an implosion from some one else too.

Them up the road are long overdue an implosion and a flirt with the big R, surely?

    Very wishful thinking I know

Think we’ll get in a few prem loans as they start to become available later in the month
Be interesting how that would work with the 25 man squad that's has to be put into the EFL at end of the window. Those loans would count in that squad, if i''m correct.

Would need a load more out's for that to happen,
Technically we don’t. We can have as many players under contract as we want, but only 25 can be in the EFL squad.

I’m sure the club won’t want to be paying guys not to play, but we might have to if we can’t shift them.

Nope, radio silence at the training ground. Did hear we was suppose to play west ham in a pre season friendly but because playing them so early in the season was cancelled

Surely a L1 side will pay £250k for Doc or Coventry to finance a basic of £5k pw for Chalobah. But still need a marquee CM.

Wednesday fans gripe with  Chalobah, was he was injury prone and they believe on £15,000 per week.

It'll be amazing if we aren't in some sort of relegation battle next season, even with a couple more decent signings.

That doesn't mean I think we will be relegated, but we'll be nearer the bottom of the table than the top, and any bottom half team can easily get into trouble with loss of form, key injuries etc. as it's such a brutal league.

The 3 promoted sides will all be involved, but so will us, Pompey, West Brom, Preston, Blackburn and even the likes of QPR and Watford, who only finished 5 and 4 points above us, respectively.

Everyone may change their tune tomorrow when the club are expected to announce a new signing. Is it Holsgrove or one of the 2 mentioned on here from Oxford who would solve their provisional current embargo. I hope we are not disappointed.

Won't be Mills as he played over the weekend which he wouldn't have done if he'd signed for us

There are much worse sides in this division than us
    Who?
No-one knows yet. Transfer activity hasn't finished and no competitive games have been played. It could well be that there are 23 worse sides than us by the end of this season. Did anyone really think we'd get 101 points and win the title before a ball was kicked?
