Mannion MOTM by a country mile.

Will take a point but next season we need to be able to score more than once. Need midfield players like Louza & not ones like Doc.

Big spends needed in the summer. Almost certainly done enough now with 49 points but 52 will guarantee it.

    More later.

We lose a game and it is all anger, random threads about the manager and relegation is imminent. A decent point or win and the sun is out and everyone is content.  We all need to be more Curbs.
Some people go completely off the deep end every time we lose. Unhappy home lives
Bit strong of you to suggest I've got a life!!
(Sorry, dont really have much to add to these threads when we dont win, I'm just a one trick pony with my GIF)

Only 4 shots on target compared to their 10 but a much higher xG, shows that it's all about quality not quantity 😉
Or shows you how bollox XG is

Man of the match without any doubt is Mannion. Pleased that he has come back after Bad Friday and smashed it. He's put in a top keeper performance. Watford had some quality and Irankunde had us in toast on the left wing all match. We tried Bell and tried TC and nobody could keep up with his pace. Just have to accept that he was lightning quick and and had the finish.

The Coady incident took the sting out of things and the players looked pretty chilled after the restart. All mates walking off the pitch.

    A great and valuable point.

    Results elsewhere went out way.

Lincoln promoted to Championship (2nd division) for first time in 65 years. Congrats to them. Hopefully a club with a smaller budget than us next season.

We are creeping to the line and 3 points at Hillsborough (please God) will be the line crossed.

So, what is the "R Factor"?
    No idea, 8 or 9.

    What we can now see is that;
Oxford gained a point on us but lost one compared to our result today. Portsmouth lost 2 today and also drew at Watford. Blackburn lost 2 today but gained 2 on us at watford. West Brom lost 2 and another at Watford, so that's a net gain of 5 in our favour!

    Good result.
    Its 8

That’s a great point imo. We looked so much better today in terms of looking like we actually wanted to push forward by passing through the lines rather than hoofball

I personally thought we were safe before today but now surely even the battle scared pessimistic crowd can relax !! Major window required this summer to keep building a consistent squad

I swear we could go into the last game 6 points clear of the bottom three and there'd be people saying one more win and we're safe!
You can never be too careful
  • Mannion was outstanding today. I hope Coady is okay.

Watford have some excellent players and caused us plenty of problems.

JRC should have taken his chance.

An excellent point and a day in which none of the teams below us gained a single point on us. The likes of Leicester and Oxford are running out of road.

A very decent and even first half but we were really pushed back towards the end and did well to hold on in the face of a lot of pressure. Mannion had an excellent game and that showed a lot of character after his error on Friday. TC also did well in that first half (one errant pass aside) before he was moved back to the wing-back position.

Delighted for Matty Godden, who finished his chance with aplomb.

Let’s finish the job next Saturday against Preston and have a more relaxing g trip up to Sheffield.

And back in reality land there was no gains or losses anywhere as all the bottom 7 drew.

In fact there were only 4 wins, with 5 draws.

Great point but not a great performance. I suppose that doesn’t really matter. I thought Mannion was exceptional. Definitely kept us in it. Worrying about Coady and on the face of it we’ve probably lost him from the roll call for the final run in. Watford are a decent team. Some really good individuals. Still not safe but no real damage done with other results and games running out. Although nobody could really question the players attitude and effort, provided we stay up I’m not overly concerned by us at this point anyway stumbling over the line. Highlights our obvious deficiencies in terms of quality which should be obvious to those that matter. Big summer.

Decent performance but feel its two points dropped due to some shoddy defending yet again and anpther mistake by Mannion not sorting his feet out.
Who was at fault for their goal don’t think?

sometimes you just have to accept that you concede a really good goal?

We've definitely gained though, counterintuitive though that is for you. Another game where we stay 18th and are NOT gained on is, in the context of survival, a net gain.

"30 - Three of the four occasions this season a team has faced 30+ shots in a Championship match have been Charlton Athletic - they haven't lost any of those games.

31 vs Ipswich in October (won 3-0)
34 vs Middlesbrough in March (won 1-0)
    31 vs Watford (drew 1-1)"
    Only a draw today?

Shite result compared to the two other occasions.

    Jones out!

An enjoyable game in the end. I did think when we went 1-0 up it would take something pretty extraordinary to get past us and it unfortunately arrived. Louza is an £8m player and the extra bit of quality really showed when he played an incredibly early outside of the boot pass to set Irankunda away. Bell managed him all game but the quality and speed of the pass took him out of the game and Irankunda's finish was superb. Those two are about what we spent on bringing in all our players this summer so it shows what's possible once you can establish yourself in the division and start adding a couple of excellent players each time rather than having to overhaul the whole thing. Mannion, TC and Godden all had excellent redemptive games after their errors against Bristol City and that's good to see.
The only real negatives I can't help but bring up today are Carey and Rankin-Costello. Carey hasn't really played well or contributed in weeks and when he's not scoring either he's just a passenger. Jones normally keeps him on longer than he should because he's so capable of popping up with a goal regardless of his performance but I thought it was notable today that Jones took him off after 61 minutes because he was that bad. He completed 3 out of 7 passes, 0 of 2 crosses, 0 of 1 long balls, 0 dribbles and lost possession 9 times. I hope Knibbs is feeling spry because Carey might get bricked up in a well by Jones after today. And as for JRC, he doesn't play as much as he'd want because he can't do the dirty work that Docherty can but when he does play the expectation is that he drives on the ball and offers us creative options. Today he wasted two absolutely fantastic chances to get us the win with the kind of touches that you'd expect of the people doing the crossbar challenge and you just can't do that when your sole purpose is to make the most of those opportunities. Really, really annoying. Hope there's room in that well.
It's a shame we couldn't hold out but it's draws all round so no ground gained on us by anyone but the road shortens again. We just need to get a win from the Preston game or the Sheff Weds game and that should really be that for the season, which would be a superb achievement.

We were better today than Friday. But can’t help but think this an opportunity missed. I can’t remember where I read it but saw some expecting 6 points from th Easter games. 1 is a pretty awful result

Great ball by Louza and great finish. I accept those sort of goals. Would be good to hear Coady is ok.

He is right the only real gain was the fact they all lost one more game, in which to catch us.

Nathan Jones confirms Conor Coady lost consciousness after blocking Tom Ince shot. In hospital now and hopefully OK. #watfordfc #cafc

The gain is in another game passing without a team clawing us back. Every game that passes means there's fewer points on offer. Before today there was an 8 point gap with 18 points to be won, now there's an 8 point gap with 15 points to be won. Time is running out
